MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED 34″ Ultrawide 175Hz

If MSI manages to make this cheaper than the Alienware, they have a winner. I always thought it was silly to include dedicated G-Sync on a self emissive display that has near instant pixel response. As much as I hear about VRR gamma flicker on OLED, my old BenQ XL2730Z is even worse for VRR flicker, but hardly noticeable on my FO48U most of the time.
 
This and the Alienware version at this time would be best fit for what I would want in a monitor except resolution. Samsung's, whenever release also a great candidate: https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/samsung-odyssey-g8qnb-with-34-qd-oled-panel-and-175hz-refresh-rate. I would expect 5K high end monitors of at least 120hz, OLED, would have been out at this point, something that would last me for 5 years plus, that is if no serious burn in occurs. May end up getting this one or the Alienware when they are more readily available and some history with users are present to make sure they are actually good for PC usage. Hi refresh rate check, Great HDR check, 21:9 aspect ratio check, fast response time check, 5K :(.

I am also holding out for a 5K ultra wide, after owning an X34 I just cannot imagine going back to a standard aspect ratio for productivity and gaming. It's getting fucking annoying waiting for monitor manufacturers to start churning them out.

Anyway, another interesting selling point for the MSI that I just picked up on when reading the press release on videocardz is the ability to access the OSD from your desktop....have other monitors offered this function yet?

For the most part I don't mind the curve, my HP 3440x1440p has a curve so slight I wonder why the effort in putting it in. My Samsung 27" 1440p curve is just plain stupid but I end up not noticing it until I look for it. As for the 1800 curved monitors, I only see a benefit if they are big where less eye movement or focus is needed to see what is on the screen. If the distance to your eye stays relatively the same regardless the position on the screen, more area will be in focus at a given time. At the same time, if you do cad or 3d work, some adaptation is needed when straight lines turns into curved lines lol.

I am glad I am not the only one wanting a high end 5K with great gaming and productivity work ability. Seeing 360hz + 1080p monitors, who the hell or how many would actually buy those? Yes a few, a very small few I would add maybe can use that higher refresh rate but for content makers, more gamers, professional workloads -> I would think 5K would sell way more even if a small percentage of all monitors.

I think you are very mistaken. There's going to be more eSports fans buying high refresh rate 1080p monitors than there are those who would buy 5K displays. Most eSports titles can actually utilize those framerates.

That said, I do really want a nice 5K ultrawide with high refresh rate or just more higher res than 4K 16:9 options.

It's difficult to understand why gaming 5K monitors haven't become a reality when 5120x2160 panels are being sold and 200hz+ 4K monitors are the next big thing. I would be very happy to settle for a 100hz 5k. The only thing I can think of is manufacturers believing there isn't a market for 5K gaming, but the same was said about 1440P ultrawides and now the market is saturated with them.

Is there really a noticeable difference between 4k and 5k for the majority? It is almost 50% more pixel to push over 4k.

The extra pixels are simply the product of an ultra wide aspect ratio with a 4K resolution. Whether you call it 4K ultrawide or 5K its effectively the same thing. Having used a 1440P ultrawide for several years now I can say first hand that there is a noticeable difference.
