Trying to connect my 360 to my TV and the only connections are HDMI or component. I've tried many VGA to HDMI connectors and they have all failed.

Is there a legit option for this? Something from MS? Or am I just out of luck when choosing from the 1000's of "vga to hdmi" adapters from Amazon?

I have the older non-hdmi 360 btw.

It's been damn near impossible to find one without the huge markup/sold as junk.

So pretty much, whichever I find first (for under $15)

Component to VGA might be your best bet; I had a cable like that once upon a time, so I know they exist. Probably still have it in my secondary box o' cables.

I'm gonna call up some friends in the city to check out some of the used game hardware stores.

Lately a lot of stores started getting rid of PS2/Vita//Xbox hardware and software for space. So it's a bit hard.

Your TV doesn't support component input with its own adapter? My old Samsung TV had a 3.5mm looking adapter to component if I needed it.

Component "adapters" that come with new TVs compress the separate color channels down to a single composite input. It is not a reasonable solution.

Looked and worked fine using it with my Wii at the time. My adapter had several rings on the adapter that seemed to correspond to each component/composite signal input too, so YMMV with them I think.

Were you able to get 1080p output with it, though? I know the Wii only did 480p, but that is the point.

I think so because I remember testing Gran Turismo 4 at 1080i on my old PS2 on it as well. But who knows, this was about a decade ago now, lol. It was a Samsung 1080p LED TV I had at the time.

This claims to be a Microsoft component cable for $14 https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Component-HD-Cable/dp/B000B6MLPU/ it is a 3rd party seller, so I dunno. You could also get used for less (and as long as you can go through amazon returns if it's not as described / doesn't work, maybe some hassle, but oh well). At least with my TV and xbox 360, 1080p on component works fine; YMMV. The original wii is 480i/p only, I know the PS2 can do 1080i/720p/480p/480i, not sure if it can do 1080p or not, but very little ps2 software supports much high res, the hardware can only barely manage it.

I would look and see if there is a vintage game store in your area for stuff like this. That way you can at least try before you buy, and support your local business. I have two such shops in my area and the owners at both are fantastic.

That looks rather nice, I tried looking for this item on Amazon Japan, no luck (so far, might be listed under a different name...)

I got damn lucky as someone listed the ONLY component adapter on Yahoo! auctions recently.
