Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

This looks really bad. I have a feeling it will be delayed and heavily reworked, because I don't think the reception of this preview will be positive.

P.S. For those unfamiliar with Ninja Gaiden-----This is the develop or Nioh and Nioh 2.

Yar, not quite feeling this one. I was already tired of angry polo-shirt guy's one-liners mid-way through the trailer, I doubt I would make it far into the game hearing that over and over.

So, what, we're just retconning the entire series now?

Koei Tecmo also means that if there will be a PC version it will be absolute garbage.

If SE ever gets the PS5 demo working I'd be interested in trying the game out. Still, having the demo be not working for this long is really bad sign for this game already.

Seems it's an Epic Games Store exclusive. It's okay, I wasn't really interested in it anyway.

not feelin that, gives me zero desire to play and no idea what its about other than jack, jack, jack, jack, jack...

Games looks better then when they first showed it but still have little interest in it.

I'm worried Square is going to make one of these spinoff games for FF VI and butcher Kefka's character with an origin story.
the fact it took them so long to touch that one I hope means there are lots folks at SE who agree with that sentiment

i played the demo on ps5 and ultimately bought it on Epic even though it doesnt come out until the 17th vs 15th for PS5. I just feel it will look and play better. Fingers crossed. But the combat is great. The story is trash, seems like they wanted to take some serious cues from Dark Souls having a useless nonsensical kind of story.

Looks like it is suffering from similar issues to the PC version of FF7 Remake. Probably uses the same modified version of UE4. Dynamic resolution scaling that can't be changed or disabled, horrible post-processed AA, huge dips in performance, high VRAM usage, etc. Also sounds like the game speed slows down if it drops under 60 FPS. As I said earlier in the thread, Koei Tecmo has a bad track record with PC ports. It's exacerbated by SE's bad implementation of UE4. Funny how game companies seem to dump all the games they know are bad on the Epic Game Store exclusively.

Just prove SE doesn't give a damn and trying to live off their legacy. That said I am liking Triangle Strategy so far at least. SE wasn't the developer of it tho.

Graphics aren't everything, but the trailers look fairly dated. I haven't played FF7 Remake but that looks a lot better. Would be a shame if this had the same problems, but I kind of expect it. Lazy port and bad use of the engine.

I'm a few hours in. My rig is good so I haven't had any problems but it's not a 100% "solid" experience. The graphics could be better, and there is some stutter in cutscenes but I rarely encounter them in actual combat, no more than I did with Elden Ring. On the Hard difficulty, this game is harder than Elden Ring. Funny thing is, there's a 4th difficulty option aptly named Chaos that unlocks after you complete the game. Sounds absolutely brutal but SoP does have new items and some perks in their NG+, it's not just playing on harder difficulty for nothing, so I guess that's cool?

So, after a few more hours with this game, it just kinda sucks man. Massive step down from Elden Ring. There are more reasons to dislike it than there are to like it, so that makes it feel like it will end up almost being a chore to complete the game. So for now, I just can't recommend this game to anyone. If you are an FF fan, it's not an FF game and is 0% faithful to the FF series. If just played Elden Ring, definitely a no go. If Nioh 2 is your favorite game ever and you want a less good version of that game, THIS is your game.

So how is this performance wise with the latest V1.04 patch? Does it run okay or is it a stuttering mess?

I got bored of it pretty quickly as well. It was fun at first but after the 4th story dungeon area I felt like I’d seen all the game had to offer gameplay wise and nothing else really hooked me. While the combat felt good and I enjoyed being able to switch classes at will, the loot system becomes very uninteresting (the equipment upgrade mechanic also seemed pointless). The final nail was just the overall lack of story and character or enemy development. I knew it wasn’t a traditional FF game, but wasn’t expecting it to be so bad at loot and story.

Any performance issues with the current patch? Wondering if I should get this one or just wait and play it sometime in the future.

Worst loot system ever. I hate it in Nioh as well, it's pure inventory management simulator. Probably the worst game I've picked up this year, bummer. Love FF games, this was not an FF game in anything other than title.

Never played Nioh, though I heard it was compared to that. But yeah, there's just too much gear. By the end, I just hit the auto-equip, and scrapped the rest of the gear.

Is there any reason Xbox controller prompts/hints don't show up in game or in the menu? I can see keyboard/mouse prompts but am using an Xbox controller. The controller itself works fine, but it will show something like E or middle mouse button on a keyboard/mouse.

Is there an option to change the button prompts in the menus?

Was hard to find but someone on Reddit pointed me in the right direction. It is under Keyboard/Mouse Settings which is why I missed it. Copy pasting their response for anyone else confused like me:

Under System Settings, Keyboard/Mouse Settings toward the bottom, then Display Icons toward the bottom, changing that to Controller.

And then still in the System Settings, if you go up to Control Settings toward the top, and adjust the Controller Type to Type B.

Publisher Square Enix and developer Team Ninja announced earlier today that the Trials of the Dragon King DLC for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be released on July 20th...Trials of the Dragon King is the first of three planned DLCs coming to the game...
