Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Vincent got his review unit so we should have a good review with professional calibration coming up soon:

From the unboxing video only thing really note worthy seems to be HDR400 True Black and HDR1000 is to lessen the aggressive ramping of ABL more than anything which would make it comparable to the peak brightness setting on the LGs I guess.

My order was canceled but I will still be spending Sunday with one for a client that got it. He has been breaking it in so it'll have over 100 hours on it for calibration.
I should have the video out Monday morning.

Someone really, REALLY needs to attach this to a PS5/Xbox Series X and send a 4K signal to it and see what happens..... if it can downsample and display the signal, that is a MAJOR win.... if not, console gaming on this thing may suck.....

Over at r/ultrawidemasterrace this has been confirmed to not be supported apparently.

Well, had the browser open when I left for work. Got a message from my wife around midday telling me "oh, you know that monitor you had open on your browser? Yeah, well I bought it for you"

So that was a pleasant surprise; definitely a keeper!

I really want confirmation on this also.

Any news on Samsungs own G8QNNB version being released? Might have HDMI 2.1 if they do without the Gsync module.

can't wait for Sunday to come do my unit!!! :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

So those of you who have it, how do you feel about the subpixel structure vs LCDs with regular RGB subpixels? It's been my only real concern about the display considering it is also a slight issue on the LG OLEDs if using Windows.

Definitely picking up a QD-OLED, think I want to wait till more reviews start trickling in and more news on Samsung's G8QNB QD-OLED monitor. Really hoping that Samsung's version has HDMI 2.1. Completely understand that UltraWides are more catered to PC/DisplaPort, but it would be nice to have. I think the Neo G9 from Samsung has HDMI 2.1, so fingers crossed they put it into the G8QNB.

$980 one just showed up....$1300 one still taking the slow boat from Chinafornia!

Will be interesting to see how this stacks up against PeeGeez32Uqxer

When it comes to text it looks a little off when compared to LCDs with a standard RGB pixel structure. It's more noticeable with certain text colors/fonts on certain colored backgrounds. One example is the Steam chat window. With black text on a white background it doesn't look too bad to me. With gaming and watching videos it looks fine.

I think you're one of the few who actually got the $980 one. Anyone else here? Seems like a lot got delayed then cancelled.

Mine got cancelled. The man is lucky.

Yea I got super lucky...and I got that order in late too on the 7th...6:40pm EST. Funny thing is it took me like three or four tries as I kept getting link expired notification when I tried checking out.

Triple monitor is working on my Lenovo DTR with a Quadro T1000, the AW running at 3440x1440 @ 100 Hz via HDMI and the side panels running at 2650x1440 @ 60 Hz over DP, though one is showing connected to some sort of virtual display adapter on the dock which may be helping. On the DT, all three displays are detected but extending the screen doesn't work, almost like the 3090 cannot output anything more than 3440x1440@175 Hz, weird...

As for calibration, pretty using stock with HDR 400 and using windows HD color settings to dial down SDR brightness. Image is definitely not oversatured using this method , though a tad greenish than my IPS displays, which is normal for OLEDs. Will try calibrating later and post profiles. If anyone figures out the multidisplay issue lmk.

I have no idea when mine will ship. Ordered 0045 yesterday morning, I am expecting next month. Says April 30th for new orders atm.

This is basically an Nvidia surround issue. Someone on reddit had 3x 2560x1440p set-up, all 3 were Gigabyte. Two of the panels had 165hz refresh and when introducing another that didn't match refresh it would default to 1080p horizontal resolution. Not sure if you'll be able to run properly since you have different resolution/refresh - https://linustechtips.com/topic/1091886-nvidia-surround-on-3-1440p-monitors-cant-use-7680-x-1440/

Also since the AW is only HDMI 2.0, max Res/Refresh will be 3440x1440@100hz. You'll need a DP and have panel at 8bit to allow 3440x1440p@175hz otherwise 10bit will only be 3440x1440p@144hz

Thanks and sorry if I wasn't clear, on my DTR (laptop) it is working as intended over HDMI at 100 Hz and the two side panels at 2560x1440@60 Hz, the primary AW is working correctly on my DT (gaming rig) as well (DP @ 175 hz), just cannot get the side 27" 1440p to display, weird because last year when I tried the 48 CX , I was running all three without issue, anyhow, not a big issue since the gaming rig is seldom used for multitasking that way. It was also working with my 27+38+27 setup just fine fwiw...also DTR=Laptop (Desktop Replacement) and DT = Desktop lol.

It was a rigorous curriculum with a very low student body acceptance rate! Although, Test university 3 & 4 almost wooed me with their notoriously loose cheerleaders and reputations for being party schools, I felt that in the long term Test 2 University would provide the best tools for my future success!

Having recently used & returned the Neo 49" and used and sent back the 38" 170hz UW.....my first impressions of this AW34 are super impressed. Its a KEEEPAAHHHHH and already making Peegeez 32 Jelly!

Damn would like see what Elden Ring looks like on an Oled.

OK some more testing:

I've played some BF2042.....lol have not played that pos in months, but its got great HDR to test.

Then I played some Halo MCC as that always maxes FPS with ease and has nice HDR as well.

Dang, this AW34 is FANTASTIC! Which is big of me to say as I loath 1440peee, but hot damn this display is impressive! It beats the living shit out of the G9 Neo AND the 38GL950G-B!

Blacks are super impressive, colors are excellent, motion clarity is great, HDR is outstanding!

HDR is not as eye searing as the PeeGeez32, but you have the benefit of zero haloing and infinite contrast...overall I would have to say this is the #1 HDR monitor right now, but the PG32 does have its moments. But yea, this bad boy makes the G9 Neo HDR look like a fucking joke!

Also, I don't have any issues reading text, looks typical 1440pee to me there, maybe even better since the oled contrast helps EVERYTHING.

I would say if you have an aging FW900 on its last legs then this is the only digital display for you at the moment.
This is an incredible monitor and I am a 4k resolution slut bag!

Very nice! So far there's only been one review of the monitor that had input lag at 3.3ms but they tested it at 60hz which is comical. So I'm assuming that at 120hz it would be 1.65ms if they actually measured it properly in the first place. I'm so excited for this aspect considering GTG is at .1-ish area for OLED in genera so clarity must be amazing .

I like what im hearing. Cant wait for for this to come out in Europe. Is there an exact date?

I wouldn't take that to mean anything as there is no real info as to how they test. For latency you need to wait for one of the guys who knows what they are doing, and does the test in a consistent fashion (since different testing methods can produce different results) to compare it. However it isn't likely to be a problem since the two big sources for latency are image formation and input processing. OLEDs are really fast, so extremely low image formation time, and the monitor is GSync, so extremely low input processing. My guess would be there is probably a little latency added in whatever processing is in there to deal with the OLED panel itself and maintaining the quality. So unless that is extreme, and I can't imagine it is, then it should be pretty quick on the input lag side. Maybe not as fast as the fastest TNs, but still real fast.

Trust me I know hence super happy Vincent has one on hand. While he's mostly TV centric, he definitely has some tools in his bag =)
Rtings also purchased one but Unknown when they'll get it. With the monitor releasing in Australia, hopeful HU/Tim does his comprehensive testing.

So it looks like only a handful got their hands on one here eh and the rest were cancelled?

I'm sure scalpers are all over this shit. The world we live in seems to be one of people trying to grab things up to drive the price up so they can resell them.

Reselling monitors is a whole lot harder than other electronics, bad pixel, uniformity issue? Bam, Item Not As Described, now pay to haul that 40 lb box back 😉

Mine still says it's supposed to ship today. I ordered yesterday morning with Dell newsletter 10% off code. At this point I'll believe it when I see it :)
