5800X3D official specs listed on AMD web site

What's the difference between the 5800x and the 5800x3d?

Sounds like it has a built-in GPU? Someone mentioned L3 cache, so that 96Mb is probably more.

Edit: From what I can find, 5800x3d is 3.4Ghz base vs 3.8Ghz, but has 512kb L1 cache vs no L1 cache, same L2 cache, and 96Mb L3 cache vs 32Mb L3 cache on the 5800x

Looks like a wash to me. It would be some sort of upgrade if they had managed to keep the clocks up. My guess is they wanted to build it on 6nm, but supply/demand/pandemic had other plans.
As noted by some the larger cache can help in several areas. if you already have a 5800, really no point in getting this, but if you do content creation and some games, should show a nice little boost. The more cache on the cpu, the better and less ram access that occurs.

Anyone want to make a prediction on the price?
My guess is 5800x drops to $300 and the 5800x3D model goes for $399

If it’s higher then 400 it will be a very tough sell given 5900x pricing.

it'll be interested how they position it, because in gaming the 5800x3D is suppose to be better than the 5900x and i9-12900k. I think we'll see some price shuffling for a few things. Currently you can find the 5600x for $229, and the 5800x for $349, these might become the standard price from now on. Microcenter is a bit cheaper, but not everyone has access the those few stores.
greymon55 (who seems to have a good track record in regards to leaks) says the price of the 5800x3D being around $350. That would be great, but I think that is way too cheap.

I just don't see $350 happening. If it does, that will be great, but such a deal in MSRP that these will be scalped to oblivion IMO. Real world though, I don't see this thing being that much faster over a 5900x or even normal 5800x at modern resolutions, and for FPS chasers who play at low res, the 5900x is still going to be faster in games where outright clockspeed matters more.

Pricing at $450... IMO, not worth it with a 5900x being $400.. But that's just me.
That depends on how it performs in real life, AMD is pretty clear in their marketing for it that this is a gaming-focused chip that supposedly beats out the 12900K, which if true gives them an opportunity to charge a premium for it and puts it in a different class than their 5900x and 5950x which are still solid gaming chips but would be more focused now towards people who use their computers for heavier non-gaming workloads, but still want to game.

It really depends on Performance. If the 5800x3D beats the 12900k in gaming, the chip would be worth it for gaming. BUT thats a big if. We will have to see where it lands when it comes to gaming.

5500 is Cezanne, 5600 is Vermeer. At $450, well.. it better whip the llama's rear end in games. 5800x3D launches 4/20.
