S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Remain optimistic! Lets hope, not just for the game, but for the people.
Agreed. The civilians said they are going to fight.

What concerns me the most, is if he doesn't stop, if he attacks a NATO ally, Article 5 will be inacted.

And that'll be the end.

Without getting too off topic, I don't think he would go so far.

We should keep this thread on topic, but obviously this will cause a delay to the game. It was already delayed from April to December, so I assume it is mostly done. But obviously this will cause a delay of some months at the minimum. Which is a shame, literally my most anticipated SP game right now.

Hopefully the game studio were able to transfer all the game data and files outside Ukraine.

apparently there was battles today in the Zone during the invasion... I wonder how the real Stalkers are handling this. Must be pretty intense to be out there minding your business and enjoying the quiet only to realize you're suddenly in the middle of a war. :( The IRL Zone Stalkers aren't hardened fighters like in the game, actually fighting an army isn't their thing.

Keeping it on-topic, I hope GSC is able to continue their work and that their people in Ukraine are safe in the coming days / weeks.

Frightening and tragic to think that some of these devs may well be picking up real rifles to defend their cities against Russia. What a horrific potential bloodbath that would be.

Does anyone know any trustworthy sites in English where we can donate to provide aid to Ukraine? I saw this site linked in those Twitter links but cannot read them.

Expected. I don't blame them, this is entirely unavoidable. When things get under control, hopefully their relationship with Microsoft will help keep development afloat so it isn't rushed out the door quickly.

Heard on the news last night some idiot decided it would be a good idea to shell the country's largest nuclear plant.

Here's hoping everyone at GSC (and Ukrainians in general) manage to get through this safely and are spared another exclusion Zone being created...

A training facility near the site was set on fire. No power generation facilities were damaged. Don't believe everything you read and hear.

Stalker developer GSC Game World appears to have subtly changed the name of its upcoming and now on-hold sequel...its full title, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, has been altered on Steam to Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl - reflecting the Romanised Ukrainian version of the name, rather than its original (which is based on the Romanised Russian)...

Still annoyed this one has to get put off, but a very reasonable excuse. With Microsoft backing it I have hopes that it won't be completely abandoned even if development lags on.

Dumb thing to do, and probably for a dumb reason.

Yeah, lets change the spelling of one of the most known accidents in history to a barely used one, so that the bulk of the world that spells it the other way, cant easily search and we wont show up very high in the searches for that topic because we spell it different than most people will!
Need to think of the marketing. You're appealing to the world. The world calls it Chernobyl. The world searches for Chernobyl. You dont show in the top listings for Chernobyl because you spell it differently. They'll be real high for Chornobyl..... and the people who cant spell it the accepted way will still find it so easily :)

The whole world is riding with Ukraine! Get in baby!

You realize the anglicized (or in this case "Russolized" I guess) spellings of place names are reclaimed by their original owners all the time, right?

See Bombay ==> Mumbai. Hell, in my own province the local indigenous tribe used to be called Micmac by the European settlers, and decades ago that change to Mik'maq.

Get with the times, bro. Branding goes both ways.

It just changed one letter from E to O. Really not that big of a difference, I don't think it will throw off search results that much. Besides, any traffic lost will be regained with the various news articles keeping the title in the news due to the uneventful name change.

Little test Google obviously has no much issue, but steam did give quite the different result searching Chernobyl 2 versus Chornobyl 2, when the game actually release I imagine the algorithm would push it higher.

For the statement of it being dumb, I think that a misunderstanding, Inefficient does not mean dumb, it is a different weighting of values. From Brexit to the current Russian invasion of Ukraine, if you just have human tried to maximize comfort and wealth has their algorithm, they will look really dumb and misfunctioning, but that not what they necessarily value.

Guess they took "get out of here STALKER" to heart. Happy to hear this.

Nice. I wonder how many people are moving over, how many are working on the game, and who's staying behind, or has already left to another country.
