I just got this card from the Zotac store. I wanted to wait until cards came down, but the main game I play just had a two year update to the Unreal 4 engine. With my old card I was getting 10-20 FPS at 1600x900 and all low settings. Unplayable. It's an MMO and many of these people I have played with since 2008 when the game first released. So, yeah, I want to play and don;t want to wait 1-2 years for prices to come down. Anyway, MSRP on the 3060ti is 399.00. I had to pay 699.99 for it, but the same card is going on Amazon and elsewhere from scalpers for 900, if you can find it. Still robbery.

Anyway, I got the white edition because of my white build. It's an OC card, the highest OC they make in the 3060ti version. I might post a Youtube review becasue there are currently zero reviews on the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Ti AMP White Edition.

A couple of things I don't like about the card right out of the box.
  1. There is one LED area and it illuminates the ZOTAC brand, not the GEFORCE RTX label. On that one, well, fuck you Zotac.
  2. The LED is white and only white. I guess they needed to save .01 cents per card.
  3. There is no way to increase or decrease the brightness, and that MFer is bright.
  4. It's OCed to a point it uses 20% more power than a factory clocked 3060ti (200w vs 240w).
  5. The Firestorm software fan control curve is indecipherable. It's like they have it marked in %age of fan speed, and temp, but the two are reversed. I literally can't make intuitive sense of it. Maybe if I read the manual. But, you shouldn't have to do that with a simple three point fan curve.
  6. Since they increase power to 240w, they now use 2 8pin connectors.
  7. The connectors are recessed WAY into the card.
Everything else, such as fan noise, card size and weight, and performance is fine. One thing I do like is that this is a very small card. It's only 9" long, and it's light. It doesn't sag at all.

What I wanted to do as a review, mainly, it compare performance at it's 240w OC to the stock factory 200w clock speeds. I remember back in the day that OCing video cards got you pretty much exactly nothing, and by nothing, I mean like 1-2% increase in performance for a whopping increase in power consumption and heat. If so, I'll clock it down to factory specs. But, to increase clocks and use 20% more power for little if any performance gain is really sad on AIBs' part.

Any ideas on what I should find OC vs factory clock?

$700 for a $400 card direct from Zotac's store? Wow, not even pretending to not be cashing in lol.

I would just look for general reviews of the 3060 Ti and compare their OC performance. A lot of them publish it, and you could use it as a gauge, but I doubt they'll have exactly 240W performance since every card's potential is different. Your mileage will vary, but OCing can make a huge difference depending on the card. For example, my 1070 Ti can clear a 1080 easily if you can push the memory hard enough because the card was designed with insufficient memory bandwidth as a part of product segmentation. OCing made a huge difference for this card in performance. My R9 280X, by contrast, had an embarrassingly overkill amount of memory bandwidth, so you could overclock the VRAM all you wanted and get almost no benefit. A lot of it depends on the card you have and how close to the limit of its potential it is to begin with, but it can make a difference with certain ones. I can't speak for the 3060 Ti in particular, though.

The easiest thing you can do is just run a benchmark at stock, then OC'd, and compare the results yourself.

But, to increase cocks

Hope your white build has yellow accents so they can match the yellow fans on your Zotac card in a few weeks :D

The cards bios has the over clock in it. It will run at its overclocked speed out of the box. The 240 watt power is the power limit it can use. Not what it will be using. Until you load that card in a benchmark or a heavy game it won't get to 240 watts.

If you want to see the difference use Afterburner or Precision to down clock the memory and clock speed to Nvidia numbers and rin a few benches. Then pit it back to its stock clocks and run them again. You will see a difference.

The memory is stock.

It will not make a huge difference in most games. You could easily use afterburner and set it to about 84% power limit.

Some Zotac cards tend to cause weeping and gnashing of teeth when installing the power connectors. I had an rtx 3070 amp holo.....

If you want some rbg, 3070 amp holo is the name.

Yep. Zotac is selling their cards more expensively to discourage scalpers, along with making it a one card per two week period, same address/card address. The same card on Amazon sells for 900 from a fucked up scalper. If they sell them for normal prices, customers never see them at that price, and scalpers become the new middle man. So, Zotac decided to make that money themselves.

As far as the OC goes, I think this is the hottest 3060ti card out right now. It's god to hear it might actually make a difference. I'll have to try it.

First things first, through. I'm looking into how I can light it up, first. lol

nice lookin card for a white build. looks like the pcb is tiny so they seem to be way back but the heatsink is really huge.

Pretty happy with the way it looks and size and weight is amazing. Just can't understand why such crap lighting? I mean, really, n way to even decrease the fucking super nova branding?

i had a msi card like that, bright led on the side. you could either unplug it or try to dampen it with something like tape

After I fix AGAIN my custom 12V LEDs in my case, and light the card up some how, I'll post a picture of it. I had to take off the cable ARGB cover. The car is so short, it wouldn't go directly into the back plate holes. It looked cramped. So I ran white sleeved cables under the card without LEDs. Looks cleaner that way, anyway. I think I am going to take off the 24pin ARGB lights too, and us this 90 degree 24pin ARGB connector and a white sleeved cable. It will look a lot cleaner. I ahve a Cooler Master unlit 90 degree and it looked clean that way.

Yea just the fan logo. I doubt anything is under them (except really hard to remove glue)

Random redit picture
Well, they really need to address that. In my build, you don't even see teh fans, so no big deal. Hopefully, with the updated version, they solved the piss fans - lol. Really, that's just unacceptable. I didn't buy piss yellow fan caps.

Do you honestly believe that? They are selling their cards more expensively to make more money. Zotac has been the worst of the worst in terms of price gouging (followed closely by MSI and Asus).
Yeah, true. They are trying to cut the middle man out because they are suppose to be the middle man. The way I see it, they can either sell them for more and make the profit, or they can sell them for less, and scalpers can make the profit, plus causing us to pay more than Zotac or MSI's inflated prices. I mean, that's probably how they are viewing it? The card I got is 900.00 on Amazon from scalpers, or 700 from Zotac. 700 is a 75% increase over MSRP. 900 is 125% over MSRP. I don't know if buying them from Zotac for 700 and trying to sell them on Amazon for 900 is enough of a markup for them. Zotac store is now out of stock, again. I think I was fortunate to get the card at 700, although my ass still hurts.

It's interesting that now on Amazon, scalpers are now asking 964.00 for the Zotac 3060ti Amp white card. Just before I bought mine from the Zotac store, they were 900.00.

Ok. So as supply increases, are people going to buy $700 Zotac cards OR $600 EVGA cards? I already won a $600 3060Ti Asus card from the shuffle not too long ago.

Granted, I understand you are going for a certain aesthetic with the white. Personally, I haven't looked at my video card since I installed it. I certainly wouldn't pay an extra $100 for a certain color.

Money is money. Companies make money, or they would not be a company. I think maybe you are joking?

They are selling their cards more expensively for more profit. And I bet scalpers will still buy them at the markup price if they believe they can make a decent profit. Zotac isn’t doing anyone a favor by marking up their cards so blatantly.

Ugh, “won” a $600 3060 Ti. The world we live in!

Was the shipping $38 to discourage scalpers too? ;)

My $750 Zotac Amp Box was $788 with shipping but no tax so can’t complain.

Maybe. If you really want it, and when prices return the the normal, you never pay MSRP for a card. Perhaps yuo could get that card for 400, right on MSRP?

They are doing a favor by not allowing scalpers to buy their entire inventory and mark in it up a lot more than Zotac is. The same card is now 950.00 on Amazon, from Scalpers.

699 or 950? I think 699 is more of a favor than 950.00. Look, it's still a RIP OFF, but less of one. I'm not standing on a position that is a matter of kind, but degree.

You say they are "doing a favor." When in reality they are just charging $300 more for a product than Nvidia's "MSRP" and passing on the "savings" to you. If they were doing YOU a favor, they'd charge maybe ~$550. The difference between $550 and $699 goes right in their pocket.

It's just a semantics argument. I'm well aware that companies are not altruistic. Just leave out the "favor" word, if that helps, and insert "choice." They allowed me to purchase a card that I would have otherwise had to pay 900+. They gave me a choice: to buy from their store for 700, or from scalpers for 900+. And, since supplies are limited, every card they sell for 700 is a card scalpers cannot sell for 900+.

Except scalpers could quite easily buy a $700 card and flip it for 900+ and make money. Sorry but to me Zotac isn’t doing anyone a favor but Zotac. They don’t care who’s hands the cards fall in to.

Back in What day? Graphics cards could benefit very much from oc’a (for example hd7970h
How much improvement, and if that was one of only a few cards, teh exception proves the rule, right? Are you talking 10% increase in FPS?

Then why does it say this on the Zotac store site:

"For RTX 30 Series products, each household is limited to one item every 2 weeks. Orders beyond the first order from the same household within the 2-week time frame and orders with multiple RTX 30 Series products will not be processed."

Here it is. I decided not to try an add lighting too it, unless I could actually do it right. Doing it right would involved taking the back plate off, cutting some diffusion panels, gluing them to the back plate, and then creating the LEDs to do in the right places. I actually did cut a couple of strips and push them into the card's front. It looked ok, but I decided there is enough light in the case that the card doesn't really benefit from a quick lighting job.

You can see in this shot where I took the PCIe LEDs off, and just ran white cables under the card. Since I had to work on my RGB strip that outlines teh front of teh case, I decided to redo it completely, and took out the back panel strip, since, again, there is plenty of light from the ARGB lights, and put a new strip in the front, left vertically. That lights that area up really nicely and adds reflected light to the card.

I think I'm done with this build, at least until I can score a scroll saw and a jig.

So they have order stipulations? To fight fraud, chargebacks and people mass returning products they can’t re sell? Again this isn’t about Zotac doing you a favor. It’s about business. Zotac is small and I am sure they operate on smaller margins than many of the larger companies. They are protecting themselves from bad business. Not being the hero.

ti4600 had good gains, 9700pro gave fairly large increases with overclocking, so did the 5900xt, x1900AIW gave very large gains in terms of performance, hd4870 had a fair amount IIRC, 8800gt had monstrous head room, gtx460 had huge head room, hd7870 had massive headroom along with the hd7970. gtx1070 had a fair bit of headroom. Vega64 gave fairly large gains if you were willing to tinker A LOT, vega56 had huge gains. Current 6900xt offers a lot of headroom too. This is just from what I recall and I also googled quickly to corroborate (at least a 10% gain from overclocking, often closer to 20%).

Also, the magenta and white is a really nice color combo. I dig it.

I'm just curious, are you a Taylor Swift fan?

this is what discourages me. been eyeing the white 3060 on their site for ages. its always in stock but the 40 dollar shipping stops me from buying it.

On the other hand it's the only online vendor I know that doesn't charge Mass tax.

My favorite is the fact that they sell RTX 3050 for $249 unless you are buying the exact same card with a factory overclock then the price bumps up to $399. But they are just fighting the scalpers evidently. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're probably all out of the base cards but they'll sell you the overclocked ones all day long.

Look, they don't have to do anything. They are, and if it benefits them, great. It saved me 300 dollars whereas I would have either had to go without or buy one for 900+. Your argument about business is just a tautology. "There in it to make money, so everything they do is to make money." Ok, I get it and said that I understand there is no altruism in business. However, the "bottom line" is that it saves customers money.

I think I got really lucky because they are still out of stock as of today. I still feel butthurt paying 800, with tax and shipping, and shipping was 50 bucks. I could have gotten that free on in two days on Amazon Prime, or gotten it free in 5 days without Prime. Even at MSRP, in normal times, I could have gotten it for 425.00. What are you going to do? My cards was a 2012 AMD 7950. I couldn't even play my main game after they updated the graphics engine.
