Battlefield 2042

I paid $45 and got 100 hours out of it. hopefully the season delay is them doing some serious work.
They ain't doing anything. When you see a big studio like EA/DICE make an announcement like this, the delay is due to massive staff cut backs because the game isn't bringing in the money that it should have.

you're just guessing, just like I'm guessing. warzone had many season delays, so did fornite. it wasn't because they are scraping the game. Like I said, hopefully they are doing serious work, but again I'm not going to be surprised either way. not sure why you're interested in this game so much, you don't own or play it lol

It was EA's big holiday release title and it's already down to 5k players on steam. The game is a complete failure. Even BF5 is up in the Top 100 list on Steam, and that's only steam numbers. BF5 is included in normal EA Play so it has decent player counts.

My god.....They might as well just throw in the fucking towel. 6 months after release and thats the NEXT big update? This game isn't going to last and I highly doubt people will come back in the summertime to play. As much as I love a lot about this game, it still needs a lot of work.
Game isn't even lasting now. Lol
I agree - they're half assing any fix for this game.

Warzones player counts were and are much higher, even with delays.

This is happening the same way Anthem did.

Season 1 is 'delayed' because they are seeing how poor the numbers are and likely got rid of most of the 2042 post-launch development team, and there is likely only a skeleton crew working the game now. So expect very minimal updates, and the seasons may not even happen.

I'd be super pissed if I paid the full price for this game. This is way worse than the Simcity 5 disaster, but at least for that game they apologized and gave people a choice of free games in return.
There was a SimCity 5?
It wasn't rushed, Dice/EA released what they saw as a "finished" product.
Exactly this. The transcript from the earnings call last quarter had EA boasting about how far ahead of schedule BF2042 was.

Yeah, it was called Simcity, but it was the 5th official game. It was a massive cluster from EA. Anyone who bought the game in the first few months ended up getting 2 (might have been 3) free games in the EA catalog as an apology.

However, that was long enough ago that EA still had some level of standards. These days there's nothing. They won't give 2042 owners anything.

Funny thing how a team of 10(Hello Games), can do a complete 180 in regards to what was considered the worst release of the decade, by releasing awesome content over the years, yet these devs numbered in the hundreds to thousands can't even come close to matching such an outstanding comeback.

Hello Games is small enough that the people have to care, it's their company.

DICE/EA? No one gives a shit. It's a giant company.

Hello Games is graphically and animation basic, DICE/EA isn't. I'm not excusing Dice or EA, but its a lot easier to polish a game when you are not throwing millions of dollars at generating assets to look pretty, but rather generating content to be fun. Its a broader problem of the industry at large as well.

Also its EA, this has been their MO since the 90's.

I think I know why I've had more fun in BF42 that almost everyone here; I'm a vehicle whore. Vehicles in BF42 are pretty powerful once you master them. I'm the guy that can go 90-0+ in a chopper.

Going back to BF1 and BFV; vehicles are more of a slow afterthought. I liked the infantry/first person combat when I was younger, but now it kinda bores me. So basically you can have some fun in BF42 as a vehicle whore lol. But ya that wore off fairly quick and I deleted the game.

DICE can make up for this, make a brand new Battlefield 6 game, using the Unreal 5 engine ( Frostbite blows ), and have it be the true successor to BF4.

Unreal engine is terrible when it comes to faster multiplayer first person shooters.
It's great for other things, but definitely not a faster paced first person shooter, unless you consider something like PUBG great. It works with slower fps realism games, but still kind of wonky.
Much prefer Frostbite engine for something like battlefield compared to anything else out there (if done right) which 2042 obviously isn't.

Nah ah, no ways that Anthem could have been a foreboding bellwether for this train wreck...DPI said so right here.

I haven't seen that shill posting excuses for some time, must have slithered back into his EA cubicle.

Doubt it. UE should work fine, it is up to the developers. Frostbite used to be great, and I not sure how the current version is. A badly designed game is just badly designed, UE, Frostbite or any engine. Also UE5 is out, and that should be quite different from previous versions.

so according to steam I've played for 137.5 hours and I'm level 80 or so in game but its grown stale at this point. Ive learned a lot from EA again. No more purchases from EA for me, I've been burned enough times for it to leave a lasting impression.

I'm 172hrs in, and although I still have fun, its simply not a game that I can play, every day, for hours at a time. Caveat, I found that I could level up my weapons and have a much more satisfying experience with fully unlocked weapons, by "Single Player Bot Agriculture" mode. Jumping into a PUG solo with rando's is an incredibly frustrating experience.

Breakthrough, on attack, tickets are at a premium....and this shit happens. I'm not naming and shaming these dudes specifically, but this is the kind of PUG shit that I keep running into, that when my regular group isn't on, I seem to have to put up with.

I am playing it in small bouts but 9/10 I join a game where idiots are already losing. Most fun I had is when I played with a friend who was also on my squad. Otherwise nobody revives and nobody helps. It is a solo world even if you are in a squad.

I love how there is no reason to play anything but maybe 3 of these stupid people so the entire match is a bunch of 58 year old women running around.

Oh okay, thanks for your expert knowledge.

...so how is this almost a month later? Haven't touched it in a while.

This! Although Respawn heavily changed most of the source code, but it definitely still has the feel of Source engine.

Once upon a time, Source was hated for being a terrible engine to. People thought it was terrible for online FPS. Recall Counter Strike Source vs the original game arguments. It was very limited compared to what UE 2.5 could do, although it looked prettier in smaller tailored environments. Newer versions of Source are of course better but the main reason people say it "feels smooth" these days is because graphically it is dated and everyone gets high frame rates. Of course things will look smooth when you're getting 180+ frame rates.

Still doesn't even have a scoreboard. Maps are still the same. Same annoying operators or whatever they are called. Less than 5k players according to Steam, so at best maybe 15k-20k players total through EA Play.

There is a reason why BFV is in the top 100 of Steam and this game isn't.

Cannot believe this game came out almost three months ago and they've done next to nothing to fix the issues.

I believe they've largely abandoned it. This is playing out the same as Anthem, if not worse. They know what their numbers are, and EA has likely already pulled the plug on major funding. They likely have a life-support dev team to keep the game functioning, and that's it. The best case scenario for the people that want this game to succeed is that all the after-release developers have been pulled to basically remake this game from the ground up so they can release a 'fixed' version this summer or something. However, knowing EA, I highly doubt that.

After not playing BF42 for like two weeks and then going back,
I realize it is one of the most SHIT games I've ever played. Hit me like a ton of bricks.

BF1/BFV are pretty boring to me after years of playing those. What else is there??
