A seller has them listed for $251,

I bought one the other day from a different seller and got the drive a few days later. It was ordered on Amazon and the order came from Newegg, so I guess the seller drop shipped the item from Newegg.

Whoa! Any way you can check if the serial number shows as valid for warranty from WD? If so, this is smoking hot.

Well, it's really only half as much storage as you think since I run Raid 10. But I store home videos, photography, blurays, TV shows, archives of our family, computer backups, etc. It will be well under 50TB formatted so it's really not that much. Video from my Blackmagic cameras can be hundreds of gigabytes per video, so it goes quick.

This is a smoking deal so I had to pick up one. I'm going to transfer my Plex library onto it. Currently using a WD Red 8TB, this should hold me over for a good while longer.

Thanks for posting this Zepher!

not sure if these are legit but i'll take a waiver. These drives SHOULD come with 512mb of cache. Title lists half that. Makes me believe these are a less capacity, maybe 12 TB.

There's a mistake somewhere, but it's Amazon and for $255 a pop I'll take a risk.

512MB CACHE we WD specs on website, looks like it was a listing error :)

Are you all seeing $251 or is it higher? I see $251 since I have a business account.

Something doesn't add up. Zepher's screenshot at the top shows the seller as Chaste. Then, the $251 deal a few hours ago had a different seller listed. Now, the seller changed again to Unbeatable Sale and the price went up to $256. This has to be a screw up on Amazon's site for a smaller drive. No way 3 sellers have these under $260 when they're normally about $400.

My order from Chaste was on the 23rd. I mentioned that in the OP. Unbeatable sale is the vendor from when I posted this thread, and I just noticed that my price is lower since I have an Amazon Business account.

Not only under $15 a tb but in a concentration that make really simpler building a NAS (a simple pre-made the support 4 drive would have a lot here), a single one or 2 would do for many usage

Mine are coming tmr. Shipped from Newegg which is wild.
I am under the impression that this is a credit card scam or a Net 30/60 scam.
Basically the seller on Amazon lists the items really cheap, buyers buy and pay on Amazon then the sellers either have a business account with Newegg or just use stolen credit cards, and Newegg drop ships the orders.
If they have an account with a credit line, they just max out the line of credit and not pay and just pocket all the cash they got from Amazon.
Or it could be some kind of strange money laundering scheme.

huh interesting that makes sense. No way that they got the WD distributor price from Newegg to ship these. Idk, seems like a fairly low risk on our end. Either amazon refunds me or my credit card does.

I guess from a moral standpoint we're all collectively paying for it in the end. Newegg or amazon will need to eat the cost when this goes south. If it gets high enough they'll pass the cost on to the consumer.

I think I had something like this happen to me. Bought an EVGA SFX PSU from NewEgg 3rd party seller. Says it was shipped from NewEgg seller and delivered to my front door. Nothing showed up and nothing on my cams showing it delivered or stolen. Contacted FedEx and contacted seller on NewEgg. FedEx said the sender was some lady and not NewEgg or the 3rd party seller on NewEgg. Seller responded on NewEgg and then I was shipped the product from Amazon. They stated "We figured I wanted the product quickly so we just sent it from our Amazon store". Either way I got the product I suppose. I never went through with the claim on NewEgg since I did get the product I ordered.

My package was delayed due to weather. I guess I'll know on Monday.

Shucks, just bought a WD 18TB external to shuck. Wish I saw this! Need 6 of em.

This might be a better deal.

Sadly I just bought and already shucked two 14TB drives from western digital on a similar discount a few days ago, but this isbetter. Bought this anyway, going to try to return it if I can lol.
Totally awesome deal for enterprise drives like these. You're basically getting a longer warranty and a much better drive and paying only $1 more per TB.

There's a deal over at owc on 18TB drives at just under $300 that have the remainder of the 5yr warranty but are system pulls:

I'm tired of the 3rd world scamsters of the world attacking the 1st world and trying to game the system so that way they can 'make a living'. F them--we work and earn our money honestly and these MF should be completely cut off from even being able to use these platforms. But that won't happen without gov intervention or someone getting majorly F'd over in a big enough way that people drop the platforms.

All marketplace sites/platforms are on my 'last resort' shopping list. I won't buy from them unless I have to because of how these platforms basically are helping support human trafficking, corruption, and other shady 3rd crap with their loopholes. And even if I have to buy, nothing that comes from scumbags or even smells scumbaggy. F those MFs. Worst case, I can go without. I don't need that much anyways.
