This is more of a how-to type question, but I see people here and in other locations selling Steam games. I'm not looking to sell games, but how does one "unhook" a game from a library and pass it along? My nephews are starting to get into PC gaming and I have a ton of old Steam games in my library I'd love to remove and give them. When I try to Google this, I just find answers that say you can't do it, yet I see threads selling Steam games all the time.

You can't sell steam games you already redeemed keys for. I believe most of those threads are selling keys that they have not redeemed. The only way to sell games you already redeemed is to sell your entire account. Which is against the TOS.

Ah, the unactivated codes make sense. I have gotten multiple keys from places like CDKeys.com, and kept one, sending the other two to my nephews. I was thinking people were selling games already activated. Mystery solved!

half the "selling steam key" thread are also selling stuff they claim for free, should just be given away...

By asking some price it could create a much better match between people that want and will actually play the game and could also create more offer of people taking time to do publicized the offer instead of just letting it expire, i.e. you are not necessarily wrong but not necessarily right either, there is a lot of actual value to put price on things.

i didnt say OEM, i said FREE. pass it on to a fellow [H]'er rather making money off them.
OEM keys often come "free" with a purchase of hardware, it was a figure of speech. The part of what I said that is relevant is "regardless of how they are obtained."

It doesn't matter how someone got that Steam/Origin/Whatever key. If it's not violating TOS, they are free to sell them and you are free to not buy them. So, again, deal with it or leave.
