Far Cry 6

wow a video complaining about a video game being woke.. in 2021, almost 2022?! i've never seen such a thing
So the presence of videos complaining about wokeness means there is no wokeness in the game? Hm.

I enjoyed the game for what it was, but I can't deny that it is soaked trough by wokeness.

One of the antagonists is definitely based on orange man. And the majority of soldiers and guerillla leaders in a 3rd world dictatorship are female. And the whole theme of the game is that you are a looser if you want to escape to the US and pursue the american dream, and all americans are racists anyway.

Not to mention the numerous cringe inducing characters that are either direct self inserts of the progressive activists who wrote them, or the worst dudebros representing toxic masculinity.

You know, the respectable behavior is to argue your case. Or is this your way of throwing in the towel?
i never said anything about arguing or debating or anything like that... i'm just sick to death of the same old shit over.. and over.. and over.. and over.. and...
i mean what's going to happen, enough people make complaint videos on youtube and suddenly video games start going back to being duke nukem 3d?
i know this adds nothing, but neither does the endless stream of complaint videos about "woke" videogames

I'm down for another Duke Nukem 3d... though the last game like it had a shampoo bottle upset the "woke" crowd.
I'm down for representation, and was and am still willing to give the game it's fair shake. like I said though I'm going to wait to get it from goodwill for $2, especially when this guy's initial impressions though goes from "Where's the wokeness?" to "There's wokeness everywhere and it doesn't make sense for the setting..."

The Last of Us does it right. There's representation in the game but it's subtle or not a huge part of the game.

Just my $0.02

Then why the snide remarks every time someone mentions this problem? This is a discussion forum after all, not a how I feel today social media platform.
If you don't want to talk about something don't make remarks about it. I mean it is the height of disrespect that you make us read your opinion, but when someone replies you say I don't want to talk about it.

And yes, if enough people complain and more importantly enough customers say fuck this shit I'm not buying this game, then politicizing games won't be normalized. If we stop complaining that's when we loose the battle.
I don't know about you, but I want meaningful and realistic stories in games, not token diversity and kowtowing to what's trending on twitter that day.

this is the ONLY thing that matters and has any impact. yet for some strange reason, games are, by the "anti-woke" crowd's definition, still woke. why do you think that is?

Because they followed your advice of not complaining about it, and just taking it as some sort of inevitability. How would general audiences know about it and make an informed decision about not buying the games if we didn't point it out on forums or on youtube?
I mean you can't expect IGN or Kotaku to point out that a game is more concerned with political biases than the gameplay itself. They are part of the reason why it's in there in the first place, because they complained about games and gamers being sexist and racist and homophobic and worse for years, when none of it was true.

If you want to give up on the hobby, fine by me, but don't expect others to give up on it just because you don't like that people call this crap out. I'm with Arch on this one, we should've gatekept from the beginning and it's never not too late to start.

There are many more who agree with you that just don't have the same patience to deal with the meme spamming idiots.

ah yes, it's totally true that those who are not flying into a rage over the gays and blacks and anti-racist/sexist/whateverist messages existing in games are just "giving up on the hobby."

do you have any idea how much more bitching and moaning there is on this forum about "woke" and "sjw" than there are people who ever stop to make even a passing comment in the other direction? 99.9% of the time it's a boomer circle jerk where everyone gets off on the anti-woke anti-sjw outrage. i specifically speak up about it because i KNOW there are users here who read this shit constantly and don't feel like being that tall blade of grass. the reason my comments are so triggering to you, m76, and no doubt many others is because i'm one of the only people who ever pierces the filter bubble that exists here.

"boomer circle jerk"
"triggering"

Yeah, you're so courageous. Just a few more memes with this week's hip buzzwords and I'll have no choice but to publicly recognize your amazing bravery.

thank you, at least somebody finally sees it!

All I see is you adding nothing to any conversation, no counter point, no analysis, just trolling memes.

So congrats on being a troll I guess.
you know damn well that there's no point in attempting a discussion about it here.. once you've convinced yourself you're the victim of the "woke agenda" being "shoved down your throat" nobody is ever going to convince you otherwise. the victimhood complex is a very difficult nut to crack

Anybody else having crash-to-desktop issues with this game after the latest patch? I'm in Madrugada and suddenly I can't play more than 5-10 minutes without a CTD. I thought it might be due to my hardware upgrades, but I don't have the issue with other games. Weird.

I'd check internet connection, the game used to CTD when the servers would go down in the first week. Or ubisoft might have repurposed the fc6 servers into processing nft transactions, if they are not using our computers for that purpose (I'd not be surprised)

I uninstalled the game.
First, bad game.
Second, crashed frequently, froze up, just a poorly implemented game.

I'll preface this comment with that I haven't played it yet, so I have no personal experience with it. I have two free coupons for it from CPU and GPU purchases, but I refuse to install the Origin client or create an account with them to play a single player game. It's not about the money, it's the principle of the thing. I'll give them my money (like I have for countless other games) if they sell it to me in the store of my choice without forcing another launcher or account on me.

So, that said, I am all for realism. It should be surprising that in a place like Cuba which this fictional setting is modeled after, there might me anti-american sentiment. I'm all for that.. Makes the environment feel more realistic, and I'm not so thin skinned that I can't handle some criticism of my homeland.

The trans stuff and women stuff - however - is not particularly realistic. If this game were set in Germany or France or Vietnam, or even parts of the U.S. I'd get it. Trans people are more out these days, and women are more empowered than ever, and for a game to feel real it should reflect that reality... but not in a place modeled after Cuba.

I don't want to stereotype any part part of the world, but if you have traveled at all in south or central America, or spent any time at all in LatinX communities in the U.S. you'd know that they aren't exactly the most receptive to women's empowerement or LGBT rights. If there is any part of the world where they are likely to dismiss of ideas just because they came from a woman, and beat people who are trans or gay to death, it would be here. To represent a Cuba-like environment truthfully would be to include that knowledge.

I would like games to represent the world the way it is, not the way we wish it would be, and that goes for all things, whether they align with my beliefs or not.

If you think it's bad I wont' get it I mean I still have New Dawn to play.

I'm hoping it is better than New Dawn. That was the worst installment of the series to date. (if you ignore the first one, which is a completely different game)

I go back and forth between which was my favorite, 3 or 4, but I am leaning towards 4.

I enjoyed all of them I have played. 2,3,4,Primal and 5, except New Dawn. That shit I had to force myself to finish.

Devil's advocate: so in the interest of realism - all games should accurately reflect wartime realities of stress, panic, PTSD, human abilities, and what happens with even a stray bullet on the human body?

I mean, I'd like that. I'm not sure everyone would, but the games that are the most realistic like this have been the ones I have enjoyed the most.

Red Orchestra 2 was brilliant, Nazis vs Commies on the brutal eastern front of WWII, being forced to rush across an open enemy field armed with nothing but a comically long bolt action rifle and a bayonet, while enemy machine gun fire hails all around you in order to take an enemy position in an almost one hit one kill game.

Panicked taking cover from machine gun fire in a crater left by an artillery shell, only to hear the ominous roar above of incoming artillery fire, and within seconds, explosions all around you and you stay low and just hope none of them fall close enough to get you, while body parts of your teammates who were attacking with you are flying all around you.

It depicted all the true horrors of war, on the brutal eastern front. Much better IMHO than most modern silly run and gun titles which portray war as nothing but a fun game.

That would make a very interesting game imho. At least it would be different than Battlenight of apexduty

Just FYI according to surveys most Latinos detest that label. It's a gross sjw simplification "let's just bunch up these people into a big group, they are all the same anyway" As usual the SJW is the racist one.
That's interesting, because the people I hear use it the most are of latin American backgrounds.

If they didn't like it, you'd think they wouldn't use it.

I tend to try to use whatever term I perceive people prefer. It seems like the nice thing to do.

Most just want to live their life and don't care what label twitter wants to put on them this time. I've heard a few who said they and their extended network hate it. But you don't have to believe me.

I don't doubt you, no group of people is a monolith, there are presumably some who embrace the term, and others who do not. There is room for both of our experiences to be true. I just hadnt heard this perspective before.

I don't know if I'll replay it, but it was what I expected it to be - a big sandbox of virtual people to kill with a ghost panther.

That's really all I expected.

FC5 is the only game in the series I've bothered to replay and that's mainly because the game forces you to fight the bosses after a certain amount of time. I wanted to try some different approaches in NG+.
With the other games (including FC6), you can just keep taking over outposts and such after you complete the story. There isn't much point to starting anew just for the story missions...although at least the ones in FC6 didn't just feel like normal side missions.
