[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

AMD keeps pushing back the start time. Has gone from 9:20 cst to 9:30, 9:35 and now 9:40.

Edit: now showing it’s been pushed back 2 more 5 minute periods. Hadn’t noticed this happening in previous attempts. Sigh guessing this is adding tons more competition.

If your estimated wait is more than a few mins, chances are slim to none you will get anything.

Oh joy.

I wasn’t even saying anything about estimated wait. Merely talking about them pushing back the start time allowing 30 more minutes for people to queue.

I be damned. I got selected for the Gigabyte Aorus Elite 3060ti without a bundle on the NewEgg Shuffle

I bet that it is not random. The more you buy, the more likely chance of you being selected again. I passed on an evga 3070 when it was still non-lhr and I have yet to be selected again since then. I actually entered in order to get a Z590 motherboard for cheap.

If you add an extended warranty your chances goes even higher I've heard. (Source: I bought something from some dude that works at newegg)

I have been selected 14 times. Most items that I haven’t used I have passed along go friends at cost. I like the looks of this one so I may replace the 3060ti fe in my kids pc with this one. Each time I get selected for a gpu I want to build another pc. I have to stop or I’ll be getting divorced.

Use it to mine and tell her it's saving for retirement.

Yup looks that way. I also bought a 1650 on antonline specifically to step up, which is now eligible for a... 2 series card, lol.

this is the link to the EVGA step-up forum. https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-StepUp-Program-Updates-162022-m3510480.aspx
Note - If you have a GT or GF product (e.g. GT 1030), you will now see a message on the View Details page that your product does not qualify for Step-Up. If you are already in the Step-Up queue, nothing has changed. However, we will update this page with your Step-Up status if your card is still in the Step-Up queue.

You guys don't think they will honor the terms that were in effect when the card was purchased? I bought one.

Mine just shipped a couple hours ago...

From their step-up forum support post "Only EVGA GeForce RTX and GTX graphics cards with a 3-Year Warranty qualify as a product that you can Step-Up from."
so if you were not in the step-up program before 6 Jan then you/me are out of luck.

When 9am PST rolls around, don't be within earshot of my phone...

It will be fun watching retailers and manufacturers scramble to reverse years of these anti-consumer policies when the GPU market inevitably crashes in the near future.
The longer this situation lasts, the bigger the bubble burst.

Oh man, haha, I'm feel sorry for the guys here who literally just bought a card but man oh man I can't blame them. Take a card that is WAY to expensive for what it is, this card should have been a prize in those $50 "grab bags" people were buying before... along with the ram, ssd and shitty speaker, EVGA gives you credit for that amount which again is way more than it should have been, and you get to effectively jump into the "Fastpass" line to get what you want. Kind of shitty you can't even step up to a 16 series card though if they're saying the 1030 shouldn't apply, but hey... people were purposefully paying that handicap person to get a ride line skip :D

I don't think it has been mentioned here yet, but EVGA also performed a "price correction" on their extended warranties. It used to be something like $30 for an extra 2 years and $60 or $70 (can't recall) for an extra 5 years. I think in some cases you could extend your warranty out to 10 years even. As of 2022 that extra 2 years is now $80 and an extra 4 years is $120 and there is no longer a 10 year option. At these new prices a warranty extension might still be worth it in the context of the cost of a card these days (and the ability to get a new one if yours dies), but still quite the price bump.

I'll agree that, same with the step-up changes, I don't like it but I understand it.

I paid $60 to extend EVGA's standard 3 year warranty to a 10 year one for my 3090 hybrid. Not sure if they charge different amounts for different SKUs/cooler types etc but I doubt it.
Boy am I glad that I did. Seeing the 3300+ days of remaining warranty sure makes me happy.

Sad to see that option disappear but I, too, understand why they did it.

It doesn't make sense to stick the pipe to us for this.

You get back what you put in for the seed card applied back towards the price for a ridiculously overpriced card.

so 1030 >> 3080 Ti

is in the end the same as

3050 >> 3080 Ti

They still are selling a 3080 Ti in the end for $$$$$

The buyer loses more in the way of Taxes paid. You are not reimbursed for those.

Yeah les_garten nailed it... No one was getting something for nothing. We were just trying to work within the terms they set, which we followed. They're about to get a bunch more cheap cards returned, only this time the $1,500 cards won't be sold to us but to someone else.

It would have been nice to have a grace period or get 1-2 weeks of notice on both the Step Up changes and warranty changes. Some pitchforks being raised over at EVGA forums, mostly because of the latter. Yes the changes are valid, but they way they rug pulled a few of us sucks.

I might put my 1030 in a frame and hang it on the wall as a souvenir for building a computer thru all of this. Dunno if I can stomach reshipping another card.

So I just got off the phone with a guy who said his name was Wai in customer service.

He said we are the bad guys for what is happening now. Truly amazing "screw you" type of call. He said the program was for someone to buy a card and then upgrade to another card. I tried to tell him that was what I was doing, and it was under EVGA's terms of agreement at the time. He made it sound like we were bad guys for doing this. Un freakin believable! I'm the bad guy for trying to spend $1500 for a 3080Ti through their own step program.

I asked to be escalated to a supervisor. He said none of them were at work today! This is like buying a Mail Order Camera from a 42nd St Camera shop in New York City for anyone who has done that before. Same screw you mentality.

He said we know there are going to be unhappy customers.

Ohhh and I get to pay shipping both ways on the 1030 card. Nice!

I swear when they were screwing me I heard them call me Bitch!

Yikes. If this is such a problem for them they could have put a huge note on the 1030 product page that says NOT ELIGIBLE FOR STEP UP. But I guess if all the managers are on vaca maybe the web team is too.

Yeah it was quite a dickish move to throw this down "effective immediately" since there's a window for people who ordered cards within the week who are completely getting hosed by this deal.

But the whole point of the step-up program was to give you a window of opportunity so you don't experience buyers remorse "oh no they came out with a more powerful card that doesn't cost that much more!" (the last part of that statement doesn't apply to this gen of cards obviously), not buy the cheapest nearly 4 year old video card you can find and use it for the sole purpose of getting an express pass to getting something that ordinarily is very difficult if not impossible to get. And lets be honest that's what everyone was doing, which is why the rules changed.

If that's the purpose, though, then how do you explain the new tiering structure? None of the cards on the list right now are 'coming soon' (unless you count OOS). So if I buy a 3060 I can step up to a 3080 Ti. How is that drastically different than buying a 1030 and doing the same thing? The process is 100% the same. And the end price for the buyer (and EVGA) is full MSRP either way.

Fixed it for ya. I'm sure it was just an oversight on your part...

Not disagreeing at all, but I think what happened here had a lot to do with the calendar. Midnight on January 1st rolled around and things changed. Ikea raised prices like 10% across the board, Hot-n-ready pizza is no longer $5, and EVGA adjusted policies.

I had logged in December 30th or so to look into an extended warranty and got some message like "These aren't available right now, check back later." I figured it was a vacation thing, but when I checked back later (in January) prices had gone up.
