Official PS5 Thread

I haven't touched my PS5 in a long time. I've been playing almost exclusively on PC for the better part of the year.

Basically the same for me - I was fairly active on it a couple of weeks ago, but New World took me back to PC.

Not seeing you man. I searched the app for players and the closest I can find is "Domingo_x3"

I'm "repulloo" if you want to try and add me.

You're definitely there, but it tells me that I can't add you because of your privacy settings. Xbox Live isn't this challenging :p

I just changed my privacy settings. I just noticed it was set to not accept any friend invites. Yeah my buddy said Xbox is a lot easier to add friends.

Just sent you one as well, psn is ragenrock. My playtime is all over the place though, during my week on I end up working 15 hour days due to travel and my week off its when I find time between the wife and kids lol

My console game usage is pretty streaky. I pretty much only buy/play exclusives, but luckily Sony has a bunch of those. I might go 2-3 months without touching my Playstation, but then I'll go on a run though all of the Uncharted games, TLoU 1/2, Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, etc.

Are there any co-op games that could be fun? Doesn't Demon's Souls have online elements or does that work differently where you don't actually play it together?

Yeah, you can play Demon's Souls via co-op, although I think it's only in short bursts. I've never actually tried it with anyone I've known. You can summon other players via a blue stone which will let them enter your world and help out. I think they disappear after you clear an area/boss, but it might be different if you're actually connecting with someone intentionally. I've only summoned or helped randoms with specific bosses.

I wasn't even planning on getting a PS5 for a while, but since getting one I haven't touched my gaming PC or Series X.

I've been playing ghost of Tsushima directors cut. Loving it so far eventually will do all the legend stuff but I have no friends either 🤣

It Takes Two is a purely co-op experience which has been widely well received.

I have it and plan to play it with my girlfriend.

The PS4 version automatically converts to PS5 if you put the disc in a PS5. Or if you buy it digital, you can download and play it on your PS4 and PS5.

As a big fan of FF7 and completed the original game 3 times ----- FF7 Remake is pretty great. Runs like butter on PS5 and supports true 4K output. You can put a PS4 disc in your PS5 and upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

Yeah I've been playing FF7: Remake Intergrade on PS5 and it's been great. The Quality mode definitely it preferred and the graphics are just incredible with a rock solid 30fps. I don't care about performance in a game like that so I leave it on Quality mode.

Does anyone know how to increase the amount of installed games that are visible on the main screen?
It annoys me that a bunch of stuff is hidden and I simply forget about having them. PS4 was so much more customizable.

Yeah this is a big gripe for me too. You can't customize the home screen at all. The PS4 had a easy and fast home screen with folders. I had my games in folders in alphabetical order. With the PS5 I can't do anything other than select the last 6 or 7 games I played. Which if you think about it I can understand Sony's logic like we usually don't play more than a handful of games on rotation at any one time, but not having the option of having everything on the home screen, and instead filling the home screen with needless information about the game itself like people streaming it and whatever that I don't care about is a step back.

FF7 Remake PS4 new at Amazon, $24.99. You can put this in a PS5 and upgrade to the PS5 game code, for free.

The "intergrade" DLC featuring the character Yuffie, is $20. If you know you are gonna get that, you can just buy the PS5 version of the game for $44, which includes that DLC:

Yeah, Intergrade is $46 on PSN right now too. Was tempted by that as well. I have the free PS+ copy of FF7, and slightly annoyed I can't upgrade it to the PS5 version for a small fee at least. But I can't really complain with the "free" game either. I got like 15 hours into it so far and decided to wait until I upgrade it to play it again.

I prefer digital copies and live overseas where it takes 2+ weeks for packages to arrive. But these are certainly good deals.

Mark Cerny confirms that PS5's hardware accelerated storage compression has allowed some PS5 games to be smaller in stored data size, than their PS4 versions:

Picked up deathloop on sale.... this game is awful. I don't get it, the controls are so delayed and stiff, feels like i'm playing goldeneye. Deathloop as well as Ratched and Clank are up for game of the year. Compare those 2 to last years nominations and it's embarrassing.

Waiting for returnal to drop more. I don't think I'd like death loop either.

Returnal is light years better if you ask me. The fact that it's months older and still costs 2x as much should have highlighted that for me :)

don't care, don't care, and don't care. in fact you could even say that's why i bought it
Yeah, I have yet to use the disc reader once on my PS5 in the year that I've had it except to install my $10 copy of CP2077 just to make sure it works (not playing it until the PS5 version is out). "Worse games prices" is debatable too since most retailers are only matching PSN sale prices anyways.

It is not debatable. You can find disc versions discounted as soon as a month after release. Normally $20 to $30 off.

Not really. PSN doesn't have many sales during the year. Idk about MS. You see a lot of game still being $60 on PSN years after the game released. while the disc can been had for $10 in the bargain bin all year round. There really is no benefit for being digital on consoles.

I dunno, Sony seems to have regular sales throughout the year over PSN - I've got PS+ so maybe most of them have been paywalled behind that and I didn't notice.

Shows how much you pay attention to sales on PSN. They're pretty equivalent to the constant Steam sales and have been for the few years I've been all digital so far. They have decent PSN sales on a monthly basis at minimum. I know because I'm constantly checking my wishlist on there and there's usually at least a couple games on sale and right now the majority of games are on sale for the equivalent prices that all retailers have for BF. Anecdotally there seems to be one game on there cheaper than I can find through any retailer; Tetris Effect: Connected (pretty good on VR apparently, so been wanting to try it) currently 60% off at $16 on PSN and $25+ on any retailer.
