Remember the dock that came with the original iPhone? And was sold extra with later models? What happened to that? Why is there no dock like that? I see there was a similar Apple lighting port dock that was discontinued (with mixed reviews). In fact there are only a few (mostly junk, per reviews) lightning cable docks available now. Almost everything else is wireless charging focused. I don't want to attach something to my phone for wireless charging. It seems just as much as hassle as plugging in the phone, or am I missing something?
I bought an iPhone 13 pro after a crack binge on whim. Overall happy with it, just a bit confused. Any dock solution recommendations?

member this? I suppose it was murdered by the ferocious phone case market

The lightning port isn't strong enough to support the weight so they went bye bye when it came out.

If all you are needing to do is charging, the wireless solutions will work for you. You don’t need to attach anything to the newer phones for them to work. Although with a 13 series, if you put a case on it you need to make sure it works with Magsafe if you buy a Magsafe wireless charger. I have a slightly older Anker 4 in 1 charger that uses just the Qi wireless charging standard. Works just fine with 13 Pros although at half the power MagSafe supports.

The only thing you plug in is the magsafe unit to your charge brick.
You just set your phone on it to charge.
I bought one for my iPhone 13 Pro Max, along with a dbrand Grip case that is magsafe compatible.

On top of existing comments, I'd note that Apple has official MagSafe and MagSafe Duo chargers that represent what the company really wants for charging: easy, simple, wireless.

As it stands, most wireless charging docks don't require attaching anything. I have a Logitech Powered dock and all i do is rest my iPhone on the stand; I don't have to be picky about cases or anything else.

The docks are just not needed anymore. Originally made for iPods you were ok with leaving on a stereo or something. AirPlay and BT replace the need for audio docks, what left charging? HDMI? cable options are fine for those.

I have an Apple lightning Dock with a 3.5mm jack on the back. It stopped working I think with my iPhone 8 and up. Apple just sotped supporting them.
