Battlefield 2042

Instead of telling people who want a more traditional battlefield experience to play COD, you all should just go play fortnite so you can get you moments of peace and quiet in game lol.

So you have no answer and thus no point then.

How is this not a traditional BF experience, I seriously cannot recall (outside the trash that was 1 and V with smaller battlefields) a BF that had fighting on every square inch, there has always been quite spots when you are not fighting around or between the victory points. What you want isn't traditional battlefield, its more like planetside or fox hole.

Because battlefield has never been a constant firefight
Again that's not true. Only Conquest has a lull in action. But the maps are designed in a way that it doesn't take long to meet "resistance". Caspian Border for example.
Orbital isn't on the design level of Caspian Border, Karkand, Wake Island etc. Rush, BF3 close quarters, Gun Master, Operations etc. are intense firefights that became more popular modes than Conquest.

Everyone that's criticizing what I said don't get it. There should be considerable "defensive resistance" given the 128 player count.
Orbital was just about finding a few players on an objective, wiping them out, and then on to the next. At no point the player feel the force of a 128 player count.

Lastly, my experience in BF is deep and I haven't bought or played a COD game since the original MW. So again, stop with the childish comebacks.

Oh great, youtube is involved now, don't worry their experts.

I never had the experience you had, it was a constant push to capture points around the rocket holding tower.

Sure when I spawned out in the bush, i had to walk it and met little resistance but still always ran into a small handful of players. People have unrealistic expectations these days.

Maybe it takes time for people to learn and create the resistance you want, because lets face it, gamers in general are neither organized or team players, its going to take the average blockhead a while to adapt, and many never do.

They're the consumers that play the game. If they think it sucks and don't play, the game will die fast.
Read the comments, many agree, if they didn't the video would have massive down votes.

This is a classic example of, "I'm happy and so what if you're not."

This is what I have been trying to say.

I have played the 2 most recent COD games, i still play COD2019. There is a huge difference between COD and wanting focused points of conflict with smaller squirmishes.

I played 3 matches of the beta, it felt like a running simulator half the time.

I think we all know they are including Portal to hedge their bets.

Only Conquest has a lull in action.

Depends on the maps and player counts. Take Operation Firestorm (BF3/BF4). It could end up being a near constant battle non-stop. If often did. You'd spawn, drive around the hill in a tank, and be shooting at enemy tanks and helicopters just outside the airfield. There were a few objectives around buildings and containers on one side of the map. These are typically swarming with infantry. You can push through the oil facility and the fighting never stops. You can go around it but on around the hills you're fighting off ATGMs, snipers, AA vehicles like to park there, and the jets tend to prefer to target you there.

The player count and map sizes in BF4 were fine. In 2042 they decided "bigger is better" when it wasn't. More guns, a few more vehicle types? Cool. More people? Doesn't really matter much. It comes down to map flow, size, and player count. Design a map right with 32 vs 32 to 48 vs 48 player teams and it will play great.

Battlefield 2042: Enhanced With Ray-Tracing, Only On PC

Today, NVIDIA and DICE revealed to have partnered on Battlefield 2042 not only to add Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex as previously announced, but also ray traced ambient occlusion effects, whereas Battlefield V featured ray traced reflections...this won't be available on next-generation consoles...

Thats great news that DLSS will be available! Can't complain with free frames when using the quality setting. Ray Tracing on the other hand will be turned off.....No reason to lower your frame rate in a game you want high FPS in.

Shoehorned in at the last minute most likely after nvidia slung a suitcase of money in their direction. Says a lot when even the trailer has very noticable frame rate drops.

I could be wrong, but I thought it was announced awhile ago that Nvidia was bundling BF2042 with 3000 series cards?

EDIT: I was correct, this was announced on August 24th. So, they have had plenty of time to get it ready.

Now will the game itself be ready is another story.

Even if they did get their payoff...make their deal on august 24th, the game was at that point slated to come out in october, so that really only gave them a few weeks with the initial release date.

True, but its totally possible they delayed it because they were adding in RTX/DLSS. Who knows.

*Certain prebuilt PCs and laptops with the higher end models (3080 and above, don't recall if 3070 was included). Its not free with standalone GPUs.

I reckon a lot of people will just do the Origin Access or Xbox pass that gives 10 hours of gametime to decide on full purchase.

Gaming YouTuber daily routine:

Wake up, make coffee, look at top two or three Reddit threads, make video about that, profit. Reddit nerds swoon "controversy must be valid, even our youtube hero is talking about it!"

Some valid criticisms can come out of online backlashes and get noticed by developers, but sometimes they're just upvote circlejerks.

Yeah... this video is actually remarkably bad marketing with how severe the frame rate drop with RTX enabled is. Yikes.

Just realized its only 9 more days until the we're playing the best Battlefield - maybe even the best MP shooter ever made. Not even factoring the gender bending and lesbian sex.

We're that close.

If I would of known that I would of bought the Gold Edition it wasn't posted when it first hit Steam.
Too late to refund and buy again I don't want to be flagged for another refund.

that actually looked good. el alamein looks awesome. And the terrorist getting knifed on the roof not wearing some specialist costume. I really don't know how specialists are going to work since both teams have the same ones. imagine a server with friendly fire on and specialists?
What I am hoping is that with Portal that there won't be any specialists and the game will be played like all the previous games.

Of course I am guessing because I have no idea how customized you can make a portal server.

yeah I'm almost positive there will be some official dice servers that have no specialists. that clip of the guy getting knifed looks like one.

The only reason I think there won't be any specialists in portal is because you can setup servers with specific teams from BF1942, BC1-3 BF2-4 etc etc. Since there was never any specialists for those games, I am assume there won't be for portal related servers?

Again I am speculating.

true, but I think portal can be anything you want to be, specialists on one team and none on the other. doubt anyone will do that. but yeah I mean how many WWII servers will have specialists.... not many.

Its good to see a trailer for portal come out cause I wouldn't have been surprised if they announce its delayed for release.

Portal definitely can save the game and I hope it will.
My concern is the ability to rent servers. From what I have been reading you will not be able to rent servers with BF2042.....So how the fuck are you going to have portal servers that are up 24/7?

If they don't allow dedicated servers for portal, talk about a HUGE mistake if you ask me.

I hope they bring back some BF4 stuff as well (maps and weapons). But the BMP-2 is back in Portal which is great. Kharg Island was one of my favorite maps in BF3.

And I really just want modes with modern vehicles/equipment, without specialists. The BF 2042 guns are essentially real world guns with minor differences so I'd like those included. WWII weapons are fine to. Really all I want. Not interested in knife vs defib fights. Just a classic BF experience in Conquest Large and TDM.

As long as we're requesting, if they bring back Wake Island in some future Portal update, I will enjoy that more than will probably be healthy. Damn I love that map.

At this point I'm even getting a little concerned for Portal - "the expectations are too damn high!" Ripple Effect Studios has gotta be feeling the heat, like "We were happy to develop a cool add-on for BF2042, but it seems now that expectations for the entire game have shifted onto us."

Wake island with the original vehicle assets would be good, subs, cruisers, carriers all usable all moveable and not just static props. Without all those the maps just missing out on a LOT of the original gameplay. 20 years ago was the best version of that map, subsequent versions are just pale imitations with it's balls cut off. Baffles me to no end how they either don't want to, or can't bring back versions of all those vehicles for that map.

I think it was jackfrags who stated the servers will only stay up if 1 real person is in the server. So if at midnight everyone jumps off, the session terminates until an admin opens it up again and joins the server. Pretty weak IMO.
