WTF

Your order was delayed while it was on its way. We are working to get it in your hands soon. To see the latest shipping dates, track your shipment.

FedEx is currently the worst carrier with delays. Hope it gets moving again soon for you.

FedEx should change their tagline to “Potentially Delayed. It will get to you someday, we just don’t know when”.

Thanks for posting.

I shared it with my son who is contemplating a Pixel 6 or Pro to replace his OnePlus 5.

I had been pushing the Pro but he does not care about the telephoto lens or the curved sides so the regular Pixel 6 may be a better fit as he cares about battery life and feel in hand. Most everything else is secondary for him.

He does not like to change phones and the only reason he is looking to upgrade is the battery on his OP5 is dying a slow death and the charging port takes some manipulation to get the cable to stay in.

My Pixel 6 Pro arrives today. Will post once it's here in the next 2-6 hours (come on FedEx for once in your life be early for me). Will be able to give a good comparison between my OnePlus 8T+ and the 6 Pro then.

Can't wait for your initial impressions. My OP8 stood out pretty damn good against the Pixel 6. I might be returning it if I don't get used to it. If the phone doesn't feel great in hand, that is a big negative for me..

Time to call Tom Hanks! ;-)

Shipping delays suck! The worst ones are where it's stuck at the local hub for days showing no movement and calling in gets you nowhere. I don't use Twitter but I hear it's actually more useful for getting things resolved.

FedEx is consistently late for me. My 6 Pro was supposed to arrive today, but it's still in Kentucky. I haven't gotten the official "your shipment is delayed" text and email yet.

I was disappointed in the MacBook Pro 14 I received yesterday. Great screen and performance, but it's a thick, heavy laptop. I'm probably going to return it.

I'm trying not to let the latest series of comments about the 6 Pro get me down before I have it in my hand. I can live with a non-state of the art camera. However, I want a great screen and battery life.

EDIT: Just got the notification. Delayed until 10/28.

At least 10/28 is tomorrow, mine states delayed till 11/02. Unless can that change?

In my area, FedEx is usually the quickest to get something to the local facility and slowest to actually get it from that facility to my house. I live in a pretty decent sized suburb that's right off a major highway and only 15 minutes from their facility, too. There have been numerous instances where an item would show up at the local FedEx depot and just sit there for a few days. Either that or it would be "out for delivery" and suddenly I'd see an update that the driver claimed I wasn't home or that the he couldn't traverse the neighborhood on a sunny spring day.

Can we rename this thread to Pixel 6/6 Pro Huge Disappointment just to be fair?

hmz
I believe you. The moment I saw the Pixel 6 regular's weight was 207g during the leaks (just 3 grams less than the 210g of the Pro) I was concerned about the weight. It's definitely not for everyone (and one of the things Oneplus has consistently done well is keep the weight of their devices down without being flimsy).

I've used a 240g phone before so that's not a big deal to me. At the moment, my huge concern is the poor fingerprint reader which is inexcusable in 2021. It'll be easy to double-up the print but that's a hack from the first year of optical in-display scanners.

So it has arrived. I haven't turned it on yet but it's bigger than the 8T+ but not anything that puts me off. I had the Nexus 6 back in the day and that was a behemoth of a phone. It's slightly heavier than the 8T+ but again nothing I'm going to complain about. It definitely has a premium quality to it.

Exciting time :) Did you get the 6 or 6 Pro?

6 Pro.

It's activated. I think the screen is nicer than my 8T+. I think the camera is quite good. Easily as good (if not better) than the 8T. The camera on the 8T is really nice so until I use the 6 Pro more it'll be hard to really say. I'm very happy with the camera quality though at this stage.

I'm not seeing the same speed issues unlocking the screen via fingerprint as some are. It's easily as fast as my 8T is.

Will post more info once I play with it more, get it updated, and get all my stuff reinstalled. Lots of app updates needed but no system update required. It came with October's security patch.

Per something I read this morning, there's supposed to be a system update available on 10/28 that fixes a few things and adds some new functionality.

I haven't had a OnePlus phone in years, but played with an 8T last year at T-Mobile, seemed like a slick quick device and very nice screen.

Isn't the Pixel 6 Pro a lot bigger? How's the curved edge screen? Is it bright? Is the phone fluid and fast? Build quality?

So I'm just about done setting it all up.

I find it's quite bright. The curved edge is really nice. I like it alot. Phone is very responsive. Build quality is top notch. IMO it feels better than my wife's iPhone 12 Pro or my old 8T.

The 6 Pro is bigger than the 8T (although not by much overall) but to my hand it's not bigger (at least not yet) because I have a Tech21 EVO Check case on my 8T which makes it bigger than the 6 Pro is naked. I'll be slapping a Tech21 EVO Check on the 6 Pro as soon as I can lay my hands on one. I won't use any other case.

Side note - my 3XL just started installing the Android 12 update. (y)
A bit of a complaint with Android 12 is that the notifications look more like iOS now... :(

In Marques new video, he's saying, the battery is terrible, with like 3 to 4 hours SoT only?

WTF, that's horrible, like worse Pixel 3 XL and 4 XL which both sucked for battery life. Ugh.

Please tell that's not right?

Yeah, that's worrisome. I haven't seen any other reviewers mention it, though.

Reviews on battery life have been all over the place. Part of the issue is that Android 12 removed the SOT since last unplugged feature so these reviewers are guessing for the most part.

What I suspect is that specific usage is greatly affecting the battery life. Specifically lots of photos and videos usage eats up a lot more processing power. My guess is Marques was taking a boatload of photos and videos (likely more than his typical usage for review purposes ) and the resulting battery life took a hit.

In any case I'll have the phone tomorrow and will be able to see for myself.

This news of terrible battery life has me concerned, very.

But I trust real people like on this forum, that actually own and use the phone themselves and report their feedback here.

But yeah Marques was pretty down on the phone. Total bummer

Yup, the battery is a big concern. If it's anything like my 3XL, back it'll go to Google. I might just say the hell with it and buy an iPhone 12.

Marques says;

He liked the flat screen Pixel 6 better and said it’s $599 price was unbeatable.

But said the 6 Pro had 3.5h to 4.5h SoT and the regular 6 even worse. Said had to always be near a charger or battery pack for both phones.

I don't know why you all care so much about YT "reviewers". Seriously who gives a shit. They're all clickbait toolbags IMO.

I've been using this phone all damn day. Hardcore. Battery life is more than fine. I haven't even charged to 100% yet. Best I did was 90% today when I first turned it on and I'm sitting in the 70s right now.

I'm guessing I'm sitting about 5 hours SOT at this point.

Thank you.

Makes me wonder is Marques paid by Samsung or Apple to diss the new Pixel 6 line?

Vermillion,
When you got your phone, was 5G the default? If it was 5G, did you change it to LTE?
5G default. Haven't changed a thing. I'm on Google Fi and I push mine harder when not at home because my phone uses Tasker to auto connect to my wireguard VPN for pihole filtering when away from the house.

Funny how you only focused on the negative parts of the review. Overall he liked the phone a lot. He said it was close to incredible. He said it was the smartest smart phone. He said the voice dictation was completely on another level than any of other phone. He said it was fast smooth and the screen was very sharp. He said the video was much improved over previous pixels. The only real negatives were the average battery (again I'm not too worried because it's not like every reviewer is saying this, most are reporting good to great battery life) and also (which I don't even consider a negative) he said the still photography was sometimes perfect and better than the iPhone 13 but not nearly as consistent and thus overall he considered the iPhone 13 a better camera due to its consistency. But again, even that is not too troubling because the overprocessing can be improved with software updates. They're no longer hamstrung by inferior hardware.

Overall that's a positive review.

But Marques also mentioned the 6 Pro curved screen being an outdated fad, and not as good as the S21 Ultra's, with the 6 Pro's display having shadows on the edges, etc...

I'm sure I'll be impressed and happy with my 6 Pro once I get it, hopefully. Just kinda bummed on the battery life part, not just his review, but no one is saying it's stellar amazing battery life not even in the same ballpark as the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I never expected a Pixel phone to beat a Pro Max battery, but at least get close is what I wanted, and it seems to fall way short.

Oh well...real users reviews on great forums like here are better tests to me though, and of course my own once I have the phone and see for myself.

Thanks, that's good to know. If you are running it hard on 5G and getting such good battery life, then I as a user running LTE am going to be more than pleased.

I even turned off 5G on my iPhone 12 Pro max, just used LTE, and I see a good difference in battery life, and actually 5G vs LTE I don't notice any difference in how the phone connects to the network. I don't give two craps about download speeds, I'm usually on WiFi mostly anyways

That's a smart assessment.

The one thing that puts me off of any of the YT "reviewers" or any "reviewer" for that matter are they tax the device in a way that isn't going to be the most common usage. Then they declare something has great battery life or OK battery life but it has zero to do with what an average user will do.

My 8T with my heavy usage easily gets 6-7 hours of SOT but I'm not recording video in 4K for 2 hours at max screen brightness. My wife's iPhone 12 Pro is HORRIBLE with battery life because she abuses it with a game that chews through the battery but according to all the reviewers "battery life on iPhone is great". My kids iPads? Roblox absolutely destroys the battery life.

Battery life is completely subjective yet people take reviewers comments as gospel.

Also: Apps -> Screen Time tells you SOT.

You can then drill in and see exactly which apps have been sucking up the most screen time.
