unfortunately since I played this game 20 years ago its going much quicker this time. I recall having a much harder time with most of this.
I had the same experience when I replayed the original Half-Life (not Black Mesa) maybe 10 years ago.
I had remembered Half-Life being a challenging game, but when I replayed it back then (I didn't play all the way through, only up until Surface Tension) I was struck by how easy it was compared to last time. Since I was playing the original, and not Black Mesa I didn't pin it on any changes in the game.
I credit that to primarily two things:
1.) Better hardware. I'm fairly sure I wasn't getting a constant 60+fps back in 1997.
2.) Better skillls. Let's face it. Decades of FPS games later, you have to hope that all that practice at least improves your game a little bit.
