Im looking for a good bang for your buck smartphone with good specs that has an LCD i don't want an oled screen anymore, any recommendations? Thanks

I think the V20 still has LCD but there is potential to have BGA issues on them and the V10s if you are not very handy at hot air soldering/re-BGA then stay away.

Bang for the buck? With LCD?

Moto G Power (2020)

Price: $ 219 New and Unlocked

IPS LCD, 6.4 inch display 1080 X 2300 pixels, Stereo speakers, 3.5 mm Jack, FM Radio, Rear mounted fingerprint sensor, 5000 mAh battery, 64GB 4GB RAM

Motorola phones are close behind Pixel in being near stock Android. With all Motorola phones you get VoLTE and all the essential Google LLC apps (Calculator, Calendar, Clock, Contacts, Files Manager, Messages, and Photos storage) installed out of the box - without any manufacturer versions of their own. I bought one from Amazon and gave it to my girl friend, she loves it.
Amazon Link

Note: The Moto G Power (2020) version of the phone is superior to the 2021 version. If the phone is listed as Moto G Power without any year, then it may be the Moto G Power for 2021. Among the differences, the 2021 version is only 720p and it only has one speaker. Neither phone has NFC.

Thanks. I looked at the V20. Seems comparable to my galaxy S8+ (which i don't like) it only has 4gb or ram like the S8+ I apologize I should have mentioned I'm looking for at least 6gb of ram preferably 8gb. Quade core is decent but octacore is obviously better. And a minimum of 128 internal memory. Any other suggestions?

I Sshould have mentioned I'm looking for a phone that has at least 6gb or ram preferably 8gb. My galaxy S8+ is always choking at the limit of It's ram causing slowdowns I'm ready to upgrade to more ram. I saw a used Motorola Egde on the page you linked used for 315$ but it had an oled screen. I hate my oled s8+ the screen is burned in everywhere I can't stand it. Never getting an oled ever again.
Any other suggestion by any chance? Something a tiny bit stronger spec wise than the one you mentioned with an lcd screen?
Im looking for something in the $300 price range used maybe 350 i don't want to go nuts on the phone I just bought 3k worth of monitors & grfx cards lmao :dead:

I want the equivalent of a samsung note 9 or note 10 plus 5g except I don't want it to be samsung because all of samsungs phones are oled. I want the LCD screen equivalent that I can buy used in excellent condition for between 300 to 400 dollars. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated as I have no ckue where to start looking. It's so hard to find specs going through tons of phones :hungover:

Something with these type of minimum specs

Check this out at Amazon Realme 6 Pro (128GB, 6GB) 6.6" 90Hz Display, 30W Fast Charge, Snapdragon 720G, GSM Unlocked Global 4G LTE (T-Mobile, AT&T, Metro) International Model RMX2063 (128GB SD Bundle, Lightning Red) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086PKMTQR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8KQEPKADSK9S67PSBAV5

Anyone heard of this brand? I haven't but the specs look good price is low it's unlocked & has an LCD.

I want something of this caliber maybe a hair better even with 8gb ram & 5g capable with a large LCD screen any good recommendations in this ballpark would be appreciated please thanks.

Preferably a USA phone. Not meant for Asia or India or Europe also I want native American phone with all these brands all over the internet i cant tell which one is from which part of thr world lol

In addition to everything Supersnake said, I think there's some kind of sd slot in the sim holder. The one downside is the vibration is pretty sad (which seems to be a Motorolla thing based on reviews). After a year or so, I mostly notice it, but still miss messages on ocassion.

iPhone 11 is going to have one of the best normal LCD's on the market, and it's $499 new, and will likely last a long time. It's not $200 cheap, but it will likely last twice as long as any $200 phone you buy in terms of support, etc.

What about this Motorola guys? The Ace 5g...
This one has 128gb storage & 6gb ram & 5g capable. What do you think? Something like this looks hard to beat for the price? I should did deeper into the Motorola brand phones ey?
The specs look good, and the screen, storage, RAM, and price meet your requirements. Personally I would like to see it have stereo speakers, which may or may not be a priority for you.

Best Buy is selling it for $329.99 (Activate Later). They have good service and return policy. If you have a T-Mobile account you can purchase it from them at a lower price, $264.00 plus tax.

This gentleman published a balanced and informative review of the phone.

I think Xiaomi phones will best fit your needs, Redmi and Poco subbrands specifically, or Realme and Vivo too.

Look at this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-b...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

I briefly researched that model but couldn't figure out storage speed or type .... UFS or eMMC? In this price category it should really be UFS but I notice that when they omit the spec it tends to be the slower eMMC.

Personally i'd purchase it elsewhere for easier returns.

Edit: Yes, imo the specs look good for the price, for a 5g phone.

Yup, nearly every spec is a step above the ace model. If I were looking for 5g at this point in time that model would be near the top of my list.

Maybe find out how many Android upgrades it'll get ? I have a hunch it'll be capped at Android 11. Don't know how important that is to you but It's something to consider in this price bracket imo.

Edit: Have you checked this site yet?

Wanna know the single only weird thing about this MOTO G 5G PLUS? It's actually a 21.9 screen, not 16.9. So It is longer than most other screens out there. I suppose it is not a huge deal breaker, but it is odd. I usually like the traditional 16.9 aspect ratio which I wish this phone was. If it was I would have pulled the trigger on buying it already. Only reason why I'm hesitating is because It is 21.9 basically "ultra wide". I wonder if some games are going to have compatibility issues (not that i game on the phone so that really isn't an issue but what if i wanted to start gaming? lol) Also would watching youtube (which is the majority of my video content watching) has any side effects? Like black bars on the sides rather than the top & bottom?

You'll have to dismiss considering the Moto G 5G Plus.
1. The Moto G 5G Plus is made for European markets, not the United States, which is why you will find it listed on the Motorola.com/we website - and not listed on the Motorola.com/us website.
2. It was originally thought that Motorola would be releasing the Moto G 5G Plus in the United States as the Moto G 5G with lowered specs, but that too is a phone that is made available for European markets. It is likewise listed on the Motorola.com/we website - and not listed on the Motorola.com/us website.
3. The Moto G 5G however made its way into the United States as the Motorola One 5G ACE and is listed on the Motorola.com/us website, Amazon, and Best Buy.

I understand what you are saying but I don't see what the issue is? What are the drawbacks to it being European? So the Ace is similar just made for the United States?

How do you feel about It's 21.9 aspect ratio. It's essentially a "ultra-wide. I don't like ultra wide monitors because they are not 100% compatible with everything like 16.9 is. I'm afraid of the phone being a niche product with that 21.9 aspect?

Have you both noticed and carried out the cautionary measure that is on that specs sheet?
The Moto G 5G Plus was built with 5G radio frequency bands meant for the European region, and as such should be dismissed for 5G consideration if you live in the United States.

Snake is right, i had overlooked the fact that different models have different bands / coverage. I don't know which ones apply to your area, but the Ace has a couple of extra bands for North America.

if it were me and i was looking for a phone with your criteria, i'd favor the Ace model unless something else turned up. If you still favor the Plus then you'll have to research what's needed band-wise for your area to see if it's a decent fit.

The LCD vs OLED requirement narrows your choices in the $300-$400 bracket, but i'm sure you knew that already ;)

Edit: you'll get used to the long phones btw. Awkward looking at first but easier in the hand at these new larger screen sizes. There's a setting somewhere that allows games /apps to fill in the screen area around any camera notches. toggle it on and off to see what you prefer. It may be under developer settings, i forget.

Ooh the bands could be different. Great info. Yes that dismisses that phone for sure. They don't mention that. Good thing for the forums lol.

Basically here is what I want I am in California.

5g.
LCD screen [not oled]
Largest screen possible
8gb ram minimum
3.5mm jack
Android OS
128GB main memory
Preferably 16.9

I want a phone that can check these boxes. If you or anyone knows of one, please let me know. It has been so difficult for me to find a good phone. Also there is talk about the phones created for the asian market sold in the U.S are susceptible to being tracked etc so those asian one with the awesome specs are off the table also? Damn good phones are as difficult to find as a good monitor theee days.

Those asian phones you're referring to still have a following here in the US. It seems like their owner's thoughts are ... pick your poison, have the US or a foreign government track you. Personally i don't have any of the facts on this. Some of those phones do have less obtrusive ads baked in just so you're aware.

You know, the Ace has everything I want except the 6gb or ram, if it were 8gb I would have bought it. One of the main reasons I hate my S8+ (other than the nasty oled burned in screen) is because of the tiny amount of ram at 4gb It's at the limit most of the time so I'm traumatized by little ram I really wanted 8gb. Also the aspect ratio seems better at 20.9 vs the moto g 21.9. If only I could find the right phone this is just as bad as picking a montior/ tv nowadays. :hungover:
