Marvel's Avengers

Glad they released a beta - now I know its definitely something I'm not going to purchase.

dataminers have seemingly unearthed information that suggests the game may feature as many as 15 additional heroes...alongside Spider-Man, who is a PlayStation exclusive, the list includes Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Kate Bishop, War Machine, Peter Parker, Ant-Man, Wasp, Vision, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Falcon, Mar-Vell, Mockingbird, Quake, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch and Hulkbuster

Marvel’s Avengers Is the First AAA Game to Feature Intel Specific Optimizations on PC

ridiculous...what do the upgraded particle and graphics effects have to do with the CPU?...aren't those GPU features?...I hope this doesn't become a trend...I expect that from Nvidia vs AMD but this is the first I'm hearing of it as far as CPU's

Super Charged Heroics
When you execute each Hero’s signature move in Marvel’s Avengers, you'll know it! Each of the heroes ultimate abilities have supercharged to create fantastic displays of power. The force and shockwave of each special move will create more detailed rubble and debris that stays on screen longer, so you feel and look as powerful as a Super Hero should!

Enhanced Enemy Destruction
With every powerful blow, stomp, blast or smash, you’ll see more persistent armor shards, in more detail, flying in more pieces and more places—making every battle in Marvel’s Avengers one you soon won’t soon forget.

Reactive Water Simulation
Even the water looks better on a high-end Intel powered processor. With the optimal balance of cores, threads and frequency, any interaction with water becomes a richer, more responsive experience. Water splashes and reacts as it naturally would in the real world

as if I needed another reason NOT to buy this complete debacle, Intel CPU-specific enhancements are a idea that needs to be put down vehemently and immediately. After years upon years of Intel favoring instructions/systems/features, I hoped that by now finally 3 generations of AMD Zen processors (soon to be 4) thriving would be enough to put this to rest. There's no reason that there should be a proprietary, not-really-technically-necessary benefit for one CPU or another when it comes to compiling this or playing that. From what is described, I bet that there will be a mod of some sort that unlocks the "Intel" features on most Ryzen/TR processors as I can't think of too many differences in instruction sets or features that would actually explain this; instead, its just simply a screw-you to AMD users. This is even more surprising given that all current AND next-gen consoles are based on AMD platforms, so this cannot be something innate or relied upon ; the only way it could be worse is to be Epic Store Exclusive!

Marvel's Avengers is looking like the worst of the "AAA" business sense and monetization. Even if it was a forgettable-but-fun "live service" game that would be one thing, but it plans to offer the "Fortnite style limited time cosmetics store", varying currencies including real money purchase stuff, "battle passes that are PER CHARACTER" at $15 last I heard (a way they can promise to give new characters away for free, yet if you want their unlocks you'll need to pay for their premium battle pass. I'm unsure if they have a general game-wide season style battle pass as well), the lack of Spider Man on every platform except for Sony's systems (I consider this particularly egregious - every other game will have less content! I kinda understand Sony platforms getting a SHORT period, days or weeks at most of free preview, but this is a critical, popular character and member of the Avengers ; its amazing that the devs let this slide rather than putting their foot down on Sony), pre-order bonuses, a "deluxe edition" that doesn't even include any season/battle pass content and instead just gives you some extra costumes, HUGE AMOUNTS OF COLLABORATIVE ADVERTISING including costumes for Verizon and the like (which of course does not lower the game's price in any way)... the list of garbage just keeps flowing out.

How disappointing. This is a property that could make a ton of money without all these exploitative elements, but its clear that everyone involved expects this to be spewing money from all ends while the customers/players get sprayed with shit.

Hawkeye's protégé Kate Bishop will be the first playable character arriving after the game launches...

No one should need a review to tell them this will be a generic, underdeveloped, cash in that people should just let die so that maybe next time they make something worth buying.

As long as the add-on characters are no more than like $15 per, it's all good.

Looks like Cyberpunk just got some serious competition for GOTY.

gameplay sounds repetitive but I hear the story is actually quite good...

I'd get it to play with my son but they made a huge mistake on having no couch co-op. That makes it a pass for me unless by some chance they add it.

Marvel's Avengers dev promises updates as interest fades, player numbers dwindle

Marvel's Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has said it is working on new updates for the game "as fast as we safely can" in a bid to reignite waning player interest...yesterday a Forbes report highlighted SteamCharts numbers suggesting the game's PC audience had slumped to between 1000-2000 people a month after launch - low enough for the game to begin experiencing matchmaking issues

in response, Crystal Dynamics boss Scot Amos issued a lengthy statement to Kotaku on the studio's plans for the game in the near-term future, and said he is confident players will "return" to the game on PC, as well as on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One...

this game bombed badly...I feel bad for Crystal Dynamics as their reputation will take a hit...they should have stuck with the Tomb Raider trilogy and finished off Shadow of the Tomb Raider instead of agreeing to this...SOTTR was decent but not on the same level as the first 2 games...

I got a game code with my 10700k, worth the install?

The single player campaign is decent if you like the Avengers, but it’s hard to root for the non-movie and non-comic book knock off Avenger models they used for the game.

For multiplayer they took one of the most diverse and well known fantasy universes to make a game about punching robots and the same two bosses until your fingers bleed. With bugs and broken gameplay systems.

/fixed typos

Oof, thanks. So I should try to sell the code then it sounds like.

Going free-to-play won't save Marvel's Avengers

It boils down to a big, broad problem: the fun dries up once you're finished with the story...there's a decent singleplayer campaign, and then there's just a big ol' grind through repetitive missions...the level design, enemies and loot aren't strong enough to support all this repetition, and things that can be easily overlooked in a game where you run through it once become glaring problems when you're expected to keep doing it week after week...

I know this is an older post, but just wanted to point out that AMD literally owns x86.

Free to Play until August 2nd on Steam...currently on sale for $23.99 as well...

Picked this up on GMG for $18 (XP summer sale 24% off code deal - still going on until 8/5 FYI) and don't regret it at all. The single player campaign and two 'expansions' gave me a solid 20 hours of gameplay. The graphics are quite nice, and the HDR was downright stunning. Lots of bright colors and effects that really pop. Definitely one of the best HDR PC game experiences I've had (other than the fact that it's yet another game that requires HDR enabled in Windows for it to work... blah).

Cool... I might do the same. That kind of playtime is well worth it, especially since I'm a big marvel comics fan.

I'm tempted to pick it up as well...I'm hearing the single player gameplay is better then the reviews give it credit for...plus the upcoming free Wakanda DLC sounds like a good time to jump in...I think a lot of the disappointment when the game first came out had to do with the character models and how vastly different they were to their movie counterparts...maybe the game didn't get a fair shake because people couldn't get over that aspect

currently on sale for $19.99 on Steam (through October 5th)...I've been wanting to buy this for awhile now but the bad reviews turned me off...but with the Wakanda expansion now out and the $19.99 price I'm really tempted...
