Opinions on the Logitech G502 Mouse?

My opinion on any logitech product is firmly on the do not buy list. The supporting software (GHUB) is a massive downgrade from the old LGS, and has constant issues. Without decent software, it doesn't matter how good the hardware is. Look at a different brand. Logitech won't fix their software until they loose enough business.

It's... a mouse. Unlike something such as a GPU, it doesn't NEED you to install the software to use it.
No, it does if you want the increased polling rates, DPI changes beyond the default values, etc. You can use it but you may as well have bought a shit mouse since you won’t get all the extra upgrades without the software.

It still requires software. But a bloated software package from the manufacturer is optional if you don’t want any of the additional features.

The fact that I can use the software once, fight it, move a configuration to the hardware, uninstall and never touch the software ever, ever again is the only reason I'm still using a G502.

That software is so fucking bad.

I'm a huge fan of the G502. I've had a couple of them. Currently rocking the G502 Hero. Very happy with it so far.

I didnt have a problem with the software(Its pretty typical of what you find today tbh). I set up the mouse the way i wanted it. Tried a few different colors messed with different speeds. Settled on what i liked and didn't touch it for years until i too switched to the g502 hero. Same deal. Set it up and haven't touched the sw since. Ive got several nib g502s so i dont have to worry about them discontinuing them eventually.

I agree with installing G Hub drivers being a hassle. Logitech has a massive consumer market and they must bring something easier then this.

LGS has remained on my PC after reading about GHUB issues.
It does everything I need, theres no reason to change.

Newer G502 Hero won't work at all with LGS. They require Ghub.

I think all lightspeed models do as well.

Most DPI value above what most mice let you change in windows are almost pointless for 99% of gamers. If you look at most pro gamers settings, they neve ruse these stupid high 500000000000000000000000000000000 DPI settings that mice advertise now.

Logitech mice are solid and last, not like crappy PC Master Race mice that have squeaky wheels after a few months of use.

I'm not a pro gamer, but I like my DPI in the 12,000 range. So I truly don't give a single flying fuck what pro gamers need, I want to reach from end to end of my 3 horizontal monitors without moving my wrist.

Your a unique case, my response was to Mchart saying buy a crap mouse then cause the software sucks anyways, when I am sure few use most of the software features but make a couple settings here and there and for that it works fine.

Software has never been shit for me when I have had to use it, just worked for setting some button changes, disabling some other options and set my DPI to 1 level with not changing up and down, worked and never had to touch it again...

It is the same as saying AMD drivers are crap, never buy their cards, but you can find plenty of people on both side who have had zero problems and just as many who claim to have found every single bug the software has.

No, GHUB is 100% shit. If you have a logitech product that still works with the LGS you're fine. However, the new products don't. When my current hardware breaks i'll be moving to Razer for my mouse + keyboard. The software isn't great, but at least it works, doesn't randomly dump your profiles because it's not still in 'beta' status, etc.

This. I've found that Razer's software sucks, Logitech's software sucks, Corsair iCUE really sucks, etc.
iCue is the worst, as it has hooks into WMIC performance counters, and still has the issue of constantly polling hardware and makes it where CPU's can't go into idle.

My problem with GHUB is that it's a MASSIVE downgrade from how nice LGS was, and when you add on how buggy it still is - Honestly, i'm done with logitech.

I do have a G305 lightspeed that works with LGS.

I was surprised to see the MX518 Hero - one of the newest Logitech products I own - also works with LGS. If not mistaken it's actually a newer product than the 502 Hero so I cannot fathom why it works but the 502 Hero doesn't.

Well, it's easy to just install. The larger issue is that it has very poor overall functionality, and many key features outright refuse to work many times with it, when compared to the prior LGS.
