Official PS5 Thread

It is capped at 720p atm I believe. Nothing tweakable.

I just did a Google search and saw this article...

PlayStation Now will roll out support for 1080p streaming starting this week (article dated April 22, 2021)

Sony will begin rolling out support for 1080p streaming with PlayStation Now beginning this week, upping the streaming quality from the cloud gaming service’s previous 720p cap...

Yea their service is not that great atm. They have a pretty decent selection of games tho.

PlayStation 5 + Xbox Series X Tested on CRT: Is Image Quality Really Better Than Any Modern Screen?

Sony's vintage 2003 GDM-FW900 CRT monitor is a 24-inch widescreen display renowned for delivering all of the advantages of CRT tech - stunning image quality and full motion resolution - combined with support for input resolution up to 2560x1600...modern PC games still look amazing on it, but what about PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X?

Why mess with a 24 inch? Curt will sell you a projector.

I finally got my PS5 from Target a couple weeks ago. I almost paid $800 to Gamestop for a bundle that had a bunch of games I didn't want. I'm glad I didn't do that, lol.

The new Ratchet & Clank is pretty fun!

Setting up my PS5 I snagged off Best Buy like....two months ago? 3 months ago?

Haha, and now I'm about to play a PS4 game on it!

Been wanting to play The Last Guardian for years!----but never really wanted a PS4, otherwise. That game is part of the PS+ game collection with backward compat on PS5. Cool!

Big fan of Shadow of The Colossus and most especially, ICO.

So just wanted to confirm here - PS5 will allow me to play (supported+patched) PS4 games with the PS4 controller?
I have no interest in the new boomerang junk.
I clearly jumped the gun here - Demon's Souls with the new controller is simply put amazing.
The way the controller features (feedback, rumble, speaker) are integrated into the gameplay is spectacular!

Gamestop is selling used copies of FF7 remake PS4, for $24.99 right now. That's about $10 cheaper than Ebay or Amazon, right now.

You can use the disc to upgrade to the enhanced PS5 version, for free. You will have to put the PS4 disc into your PS5, anytime you want to play the PS5 version.

You will have to buy the Yuffie DLC, separate. Its $20.

Note that Gamestop is notorious for sending used games with a generic case or no case (paper slip case, etc.)

I bought one, I will let you all know how it goes, after it arrives in the mail.

Wow, Gamestop shipped fast. I just ordered about two hours ago. Mario Odyssey (new), FF7 Remake (used), Immortals: Fenix Rising (PS5 New) (also on big sale right now).

For used stuff it's better to go to a physical location so you can inspect the disc and make sure it comes in its original box.

I wanted to play the Yuffie DLC, but no matter how many times i follow their instructions on getting my ps4 save, over to the ps5 version... it never shows up. So i'm done trying at this point. I'll revisit in 2027 when the second remake comes out.

I don't care about having the original case.

Blu-rays are pretty scratch resistant so, the disc should be playable. We'll see!

You don't need to read the disc for the ps5 version, it just checks the disc is there, and loads from the SSD. You'll have to downloads the whole thing. I'd imagine it can take a bunch of scratches and still validate.

I had to run the PS4 version first & upload the save in-game. After that, I jumped over to the PS5 version & downloaded it.

My used copy of FF7 Remake arrived.

It came with a case. The case is in very good (not near new) condition. The discs look nearly perfect. There is no manual inside. But, I don't know if there even should be?

They replaced manuals with the internet and hand-holding tutorials, which in reality just take you to useless generic support pages and annoyingly interrupt your gameplay.

Anybody else have a nasty rattle on your dualsense? Just started happening after i got returnal. When the circles spin up to change biomes there's something rattling inside the controller. I can hold all buttons still and the rattle doesn't go away.

Not on either of my DS controllers. Playing through the Plague Tale: Innocence game that was free on PS+ this month that uses the advanced haptics and stuff and it works great so far. I haven't had any drift issues on either of my controllers either. I've been playing my PS5 almost exclusively too since I got it back in November, aside from a couple other PC games I've played this year as well.

No drift, but something is definitely not attached inside the controller, i think it's coming from the headphone jack area. Guess i'll look for a sale to get another and RMA it. Can't go without.

I had my ps5 controller fail recently, right trigger locked up. Finally got it to unlock but then the trigger just didn't work at all. Not gonna lie, I just went to Walmart and bought a new one, waited a week then just returned the broken one for a refund (as a defective product of course so they didn't resell it). I could care less about ripping off Walmart and I got my replacement controller much faster lol.

I'm actually concerned with how advanced these new controllers are, considering how they are used it just seems like alot of fail points mechanically compared to older ones. I like the new features but reliability wise I would still vouch for my Xbox controllers over these any day.

I've had a couple of Xbox controllers do the exact same thing. I never took them apart to see but I assume something inside it shifted just enough to cause the rumble motor to touch it while it's spinning.

I would definitely RMA it.

Yea. I don't care much for the Xbox controller but I respect the simplicity of them. Of it ain't broke don't fix it mentality. The ps5 is my favorite controller ever but yea I don't feel like it will last.

The dualsense is really good. But....I do prefer the rounded, convex tops on the sticks of the Dualshock 3. I frequently have to re-adjust my thumb position as I tilt the sticks with the DS4 and Dualsense. I didn't have to do that with the Dualshock 2/3.

I bought a mouse one time, never opened it, then went to return it. Dude at customer service opened the factory packaging, compared serial numbers, and found they didn't match, and denied my return. At that time, i was even employed at Walmart ISD, and they still told me to kick dirt. I'm not so sure the controller swap would work, although it would be karma for the 50 bucks they owe me.

You Know....

This has probably already been said but----check ebay for games which were bundled. I got Ratchet and Clank last night for $45 shipped, brand new.

PSN is having a decent sale right now, so checkout any games on your wishlist or been eyeing on there. Returnal is $50 (I'll buy at $30), Miles Morales is $35 or $55 for Ultimate with the Spiderman 2018 upgrade. Of course Rift Apart and FF Intergrade aren't on sale so soon after launch though.

I'll be checking that out later. Have a hankering for some platforming, so hoping Sackboy is on sale or goes on sale during this promotion.

It's $40 right now too. Forgot about that one. Might pick it up myself for family time games.

Sackboy is $37.17 on Gamestop.com

I'll pay the $3 extra for convenience of instant access and no disc swapping/storage. I haven't bought a physical game in years for any of my consoles since the sales on their digital stores are pretty much in parity with the brick and mortar stores and even Steam a lot of times. I usually only buy games at $30 or less too and thus don't care about trading them in.

Thanks man. I picked up Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for $10.

I finaly stumbled on a PS5 today, was just on my usual trip to the store and as usual had a look at the isle thinking there would not be any as usual, and lo and behold they had a note this week they had some in stock, was a bundle deal that has destruction allstars, a 2nd controller and 12 months of PS+ for 599€ in it which should do fine and the extra controller might come in handy as they seem to be prone to breaking.
