B&H can be hit and miss. I think they continue to take orders beyond their allotment and unless you get in early in the window you might be in for a wait.

Mine arrived yesterday from Newegg, absolutely incredible how detailed the image is at 4K and that combined with the HDR gives the image a depth you don’t see on other monitors.

Like Waywardcitizen on page 12, my unit is beyond trashed.

Yellow backlighting defect where the light shows through brighter, surrounded my a faint red matrix type pattern. Most visible in HDR but also visible under SDR like in Metro Exodus below.

Over exposed to show the effect, but 3 separate instances over the panel along with a stuck blue sub pixel amongst the lower left blotch

No quality control what so ever. I mean why even bother fitting the panel to the monitor shell if it’s this bad and inconveniencing the customer.

I’m only so mad because of how good this monitor is otherwise.

This is another concern I have. Got a MG279Q and that was a risk at the time. Lots of people having issues with them. The one I have had a couple specs of dirt or something that could move around if tapped. Never managed to tap it out and that could damage the screen itself.

I got my B&H order in within a few hours of their backorder page opening, so I'm assuming I should be in their first batch.

Really hoping I don't fail the panel lottery as well....

Cancelled my B&H backorder, never touching B&H again.

Gonna try to put an order in through Amazon (preferably) or Newegg.

Just got mine setup.

Initial reaction in regards to so many reports of haloing being more visible, well it's pretty obvious why. The PG27UQ/X27 never completely turned off their backlight/FALD even on pure black. This was likely done for this exact reason (to minimize blooming, AKA: IPS panels native contrast is low so the difference between a zone off and on is extremely noticeable but keeping some level of illumination across the panel minimizes this). This time around zones completely shut off like they do on TV implementations so the blooming is much more pronounced. On the other hand, blacks are much much deeper on this than they were on my PG27UQ.

Does it bother me? Not at all since I've been using FALD displays for years now but I can understand how it would be jarring to someone who is coming strictly from globally lit displays.

I'll report back later with my thoughts on it but so far it's incredible. Just to give an example, I launched Metro Exodus Enhanced in HDR and the first left click of my flamethrower gave me a holy shit reaction.

That doesn't explain why people find the blooming to be more noticeable than the PG27UQ when not having a pure black background. The backlight wouldn't completely shut off on a grey background.

Yes it does IMO and that's my point because the difference between the prior monitors lowest brightness state and this monitors completely off state still leaves a lot of range for control. This monitor is likely displaying grey at a lower brightness level/demand than a PG27UQ's so the haloing is more obvious to the eye and this applies to basically every scenario.

So what happens if I calibrate both monitors to 100 nits white level? Would grey still be displayed a lower brightness level on the PG32 then?

I would assume blooming would be worse since the zones are smaller and so are more pronounced against a true black background.

I.e. if the amount of screen real estate taken up by a single zone is (for example) 3x larger on the pg27 than the pg32, that means a much larger portion of the screen is in a non-true-black state.
When there are a lot of these larger zones lit up at the same time there will be relatively more overlap, it effectively means there is a much smaller % of screen real estate in a true-black state than the pg32.

With the pg32's smaller zones, more of the screen will be in a true-black-state where there is no backlight illumination at all because the smaller zones are less likely to overlap and the gaps will be true black.
With less zone overlap, that makes the zones more pronounced (particularly with the higher peak brightness).

At least that all was my take and seemed to make sense in my head when I was thinking about it.

Edit: by zone overlap I mean adjacent zones being lit up

There is a reason someone becomes a repeat customer. Obviously this person has made the subjective decisions that the pro-to-con consideration of the OLED outweighs that of any LCD display. On paper there are several LCD monitors that have a better delta dE and color space coverage than the LG OLED, but comparing the picture in person often leads one to conclude that the image quality is superior on the OLED. And honestly, the near instant response time of an OLED make every LCD feel like molasses after experiencing it.
That was before the PG32UQX came out, hence the regret.

Why are you so obsessed with whether someone has an oled or not?
I think it comes down to the utter immature, childish, defensive nature of a lot of the individuals commenting on this monitor. Not on this forum I might add.

It’s utterly exhausting to read endless “Hahaha 3k for a monitor that doesn’t have HDMI 2.1!!!!111” or “YoU cOUld HaVe got 48” OleD For HALF tEh cOst”

Mostly on Reddit and mostly from people that have zero clue on the benefits this monitor brings over an oled.

Just my take anyway.

Man.. really sorry to see your panel has the same issues that mine does. How frustrating to say the least. Mine is going back to micro center next week. I ordered another one from Amazon that should be here by Wednesday. If the 2nd one is defective not sure which route I’ll go. I’m assuming yours is going back to Newegg?

Man...I dont know what I would have done if mine were like that after a 1022 mile jaunt to the local MC....well I know what I would have done....cried like a bitch!!!

Female dogs shouldn't be crying. Go pet yours if she is. Man, 1022 miles round trip is crazy!

Jesus christ the FALD mode set to "fast" per the manual or "3" in the OSD is straight garbage. Panning the camera in game looks like fireworks going off across the screen as zones light up and dim. It's unfortunate because it looks like the fast mode offers the best contrast performance.

Yes exactly - just the same as the PG equivalent and the XB271HU. I had 4 copies of the Acer back in the day and every one had stuck pixels, or as you noted, dust under the panel.

I was sleepless like a kid at Christmas the day before this new one arrived though, I have been waiting so long for it. When it was delivered yesterday I was dreading turning it on as I could almost guarantee there was going to be a screen problem.

Maybe I should approach the eventual replacement with more optimism, it might mean I get a perfect screen.

Thanks I appreciate it. Sorry yours didn't work out either but at least your replacement should be quick. Just a heads up I have heard people unboxing monitors to test (after paying) at MC so that could be an option if you ever find yourself in that situation again.

Newegg are out of stock so my only option is probably a refund. I ordered one from Amazon also but wont be here until later in the month / early next month.

Oh man - I've been lurking and reading your escapades with this monitor - hilarious! Yeh I'm glad it worked out, I saw your sat nav route. That would NOT have been a fun return.

FALD level 3 is the only one I find usable. FALD level 1 puts massive halos around everything like the zones are huge, FALD level 2 is identical to level 3 but it makes the halo zones disappear really slowly so you have halo streaks (test this on a dark background with your mouse cursor). FALD level 3 is the only one I find usable for gaming.

Oh and as for the blooming, it's definitely more noticeable than the X27. Any game that has solid dark colors such as the BF1 desert map I played last night, the bloom is very distracting:

Both displays are pricey and far from perfect...but they are the top 2 on the market right now IMHO.
It just depends on preference and wallet.

I would have booked a flight in the event of a return lol

This thing is basically unusable for me with any secondary device connected like a PS5. It takes 8 presses between buttons and scrolling to switch from DP to HDMI. Auto input switch only functions when there is no signal on a input.

Hopefully I'm dumb and there is a faster way because this is some straight up 2011 crap right here.

This is one of the many reasons people need this AND an LG OLED teeeeeveeeeee
I run my PS5 on C955 and X1X on C177.

Unusable may be a stretch. But correct; to not make "input select" a shortcut option but make "volume" one is totally idiotic.

Display OSDs regardless of manufacturer are one of my pet peeves. Things like changing inputs, toggling PbP etc should be very quick to do rather than some menuing effort. Then they don't even expose DDC params for doing all this via software.

This is the best it displays? Like I said before, it looks bugged. If I saw that one my screen normally I'd wonder whats going on. They've turned it into a feature.

FALD level 3 is terrible and I'll show why a bit later. The way the monitor is setup out the box @ FALD 2 is IMO ideal and the best balance. There is a huge difference in the aggressiveness of the algorithm between 2 and 3.

i have off gradual medium fast on my pa32ucx and i think is the same algorithm....fast and medium are almost the same...with medium u have halo for more time (default) but avoid the quick on/off zone...i have always used fast, but maybe you have right... medium (default) isn't bad overall.

Ah I see what you mean now. Level 2, even though there is more FALD trailing, gets rid of most of the halo glow around the crosshair in games etc. That alone is worth using level 2 for.

EDIT: under certain conditions I can still see in-game crosshair halo with FALD level 2 unfortunately.

The exact quote from the manual:

Variable Backlight: Enables or disables operation with variable backlight. The options are Fast (preferably for gaming experiences), Medium and Gradual (preferably for business or word-processing situations).

Which doesn't even match the OSD wording of Level 1, 2 and 3. Obviously they recommend level 3 "Fast" for gaming.

Another interesting note is that almost all 32" displays are 31.5", yet the manual says this is exactly 32.0".

Go on.... Who does #2 work for?
I know been lagging because I'm enjoying the hell out of this monitor. I'll get a quick video/gif to show what I'm talking about as soon as I stop blasting my eyes in HDR games.

This monitor is definately not for everyone but it's such a damn joy to use after staring at a CX for the past year.

For PC users, then yes it is for everyone, and yes it does indeed destroy those CX TVs.
For most (even those on here) it's actually not. Especially at it's price point. Not many here will spend 3K on a pc monitor. Don't matter how great it is. It's a rich/well to do man's monitor.

Let's be realistic here: not many people will spend $1,300 for a television set to use as a computer monitor either.

For what it's worth, Display Specifications says it's 31.9". The exact panel model is M320QAN02.6, which is listed as 32.0" on panel supplier websites. This is one example:

https://www.emajor-tech.com/lcdpanel/22935/auo/m320qan02.6/32/3840x2160-Monitor-LCD-Panel

Looks like all AUO panels in the M320QAN line are 32.0".
