Case - Lian Li Lancool II Mesh

Fans - 3 120mm fans in front bringing air in, 1 140mm fan on top taking air out (could add a second), 1 120mm fan behind CPU taking air out

CPU - Ryzen 5900x with Noctua DH15 (single fan offset heatsink model) - considering going AIO (Artic Freezer II 240 rad mounted on top)

GPU - Zotac Trinity 3090

Here is my issue since adding the Zotac (was using a 3080 FE) my GPU temp while gaming is always high 70s and has hit as high as 82 (used to be just over 60 with the 3080 and my friend has a 3090 FE that never cracks 68 and his case is smaller than mine with less fans). Fan curve has been adjusted in Afterburner to try and cool it down which keeps it at these temps but holy frack is the Zotac loud at roughly 70%. I sit 2 feet from the PC so this is really annoying.

I know that water cooling the Zotac would be the best choice but that is a hefty expense and frankly I am afraid I would brick the card plus I have never done water cooling before and there doesn't seem to be an AIO GPU solution, I think.

So my question is the case allows for 2 120mm fans to be placed at the bottom above the PSU area and you could have them blow into the case right on to the GPU fans.

Would this help at all I mean the fan noise at idle is fine from all aspects but once I am gaming that Zotac is annoying.

And yes I know that the GPU temps are well within the limits but I would love for it to be cooler. I am happy with the card and the performance of the system but would like to quiet it down some if I can.

TIA

Having fans blowing directly onto the GPU should help a good bit. You could also try the NZXT G12; its a bracket that lets you mount an AIO to your GPU. It doesn't list compatibility with the GTX3000 series so you might need to look around to see if anyone else has tried it.

it will work if the brackets are cut in a half and the holes in the main plate are enlarged, same mod for my 5700.
op, maybe move one of the front intake to one of the spots below the gpu to blow fresh air in its face.

wouldn't want to hack the NZXT G12, that would bother me more than anything else.

Found that the Alphacool Eiswolf2 has been updated to work with the 3080/3090 cards and is an AIO for GPUs. Looks pretty good too.

Still taking an expensive ass GPU apart is well nerve inducing.

Yeah, I experienced that when I disassembled my 2080ti to put the G12 on it. Fortunately I didn't have to cut the G12 up; used the AMD brackets. Just take your time and be mindful of what you're doing and everything *should* be fine.

You have an open-air 3090 and an air-cooled 12-core CPU. I would try to improve case air flow first because you have a ton of heat being released inside those 4 walls. Add another exhaust fan and raise the fan curves, then see where your temps are.

not sure how else I can improve airflow other than adding another fan to the top for exhaust and one at the bottom above the PSU blowing on the GPU slot

Then your temps are normal. They go up and down with the ambient degree for degree. If you install the extra fans, that will probably drop you another 5C give or take. Either way, they are not dangerously high.

flip the fans around so that the rear fan is intake, blowing into the CPU cooler and then the CPU cooler should be blowing the same direction, towards the front of the case. Then put two fans at the top, for exhaust.

Put fans under the GPU, blowing into the GPU.

Then you probably won't even need the front intake fans and will have less noise.

This seems like a bad idea to me but I am far from an expert.

Did some fiddling last night with what I had.

Added another 140mm to the top for exhaust and a 120mm on the bottom blowing directly on the GPU.

Essentially no real change - certainly not noise wise.

Placing my hand in the case behind the 3 front intake fans the air is nice and cool coming in and exhaust fans at the top air is pretty warm.

Air out the back was warm but less volume than I think it should be so I may have an issue with that one fan.

Basically things are the same. If I can find a card I am going to move to an EVGA Hybrid 3080, 3080Ti, 3090 (doubtful on this one due to cost) - of course finding a card not jacked up is not really plausible unless I get lucky.

The temps on your 3090 are solid, though.

I wonder if your friend's is actually that good, with never going over 68c. It could be a really well implemented cooler. Zotac doesn't have the best rep for quality.
