AMD showed a 192 MB 3D V-cache (64 MB per CCD) implemented successfully on the Ryzen 9 5900X. That's unreal. That's like a generational leap in CPU performance on existing hardware! This is starting to feel like the Golden Era of AMD back in the early 2000's.

The fact that they demonstrated this on a 5900X does give me some hope that maybe there will be another round of chips for AM4 either before, or in addition to, their upcoming AM5 chips.

AMD confirmed there will be Zen 3 parts with the new V-Cache.

The AMD Athlon golden age didn't last this long.
 
Bout 4 years conservatively, 1999-2003/4.

A little longer, at least in enthusiast circles. It wasn't until Core 2 Duo that things started turning back toward Intel (2006-7)

We're also seeing AMD server adoption like never before. If they're taking their time to roll out the next generation of server parts, it's because they know they can't afford to mess this up.
 
So a full release of this new CPU for AM4 would have 256MB of "Vcache" if i'm reading correctly? (This prototype only has cache on top of one chiplet instead of both to show the difference.)
So we might see an even bigger gain with having even MOAR cache.
 
wonder if this(zen3+3dcache) is the "refresh" that was supposedly canceled?

edit: oh and how long before intel starts talking about "glue" again?
