Feedback on project to help new system builders

Heyo I’m Nic, from Houston, TX a long time PC enthusiast. I’ve often help friends and family build their first PC or make upgrades to existing ones. Thus we started building JTX (currently a work in progress). We've identified a few problems we'd like to solve and where hoping to get some feedback.
  1. Upgrading a part by first selling the old part.
    1. How do you price the part/calculate shipping and the box/import fees
  2. Building your first system can be hard for folks with zero technical experience (whats intel/amd?).
  3. Identifying why a computing experience is slow and what compatible upgrades could be made.

Currently I'm hoping to get some feedback on number 2 (guided system builder). This is geared to get people into the PC building community who know nothing about parts but have a specific computing goal in mind.

If you wouldn't mind going through the steps and seeing what critiques or improvements come to mind I would be super appreciative. Feel free to link here in the thread, click the feedback button on the right of the site or set up a one on one. As a heads up the system at the end is a mock.

Just ran through. Gaming/autocad tower sub $1000. Pretty sure Z87 won't support a 10600K.

It z87 most definitely won't for sure lol. This form I wanted to mock up to get feedback! CPU should show a 4690k now :), the final system step is very much a work in progress.

I'm curious though, did you feel like the steps made sense, where any redundant steps. Would you change any of the verbiage?

Seemed straight forward to me. I only went through the form once to see what it would spit out for something in line with what I'd use day to day. For $1000 I think your options are a little low end. I have a similar setup to what's suggested ((2600k, z68, 16g DDR3 1600, 1 tb ssd) $200 combo, RX480 4gb $130, 4 tb HD $180) but if I tallied cost it would only come out around $510. Figure parts 2 gens newer would add $100-150 it's still a 30% markup for build. These are CAD prices, and used of course.

As far as verbiage and process, I think you've got a solid start. Great work!

In its final form, how will your website be better?

I am familiar with PC part picker and I actually discovered Newegg has actually added a system builder.

I'd like to serve people who don't know what intel or AMD is much less what socket their motherboard is and bring the cost of a users first DIY system as low as possible (I think of my self in middle school getting first custom PC from family friend)

In the final form.

  1. Have a marketplace for used parts
    1. Take the guess work out of pricing the part, fees and handle the shipping for you.
    2. Parts can be verified with software
  2. Perform Upgrades in a single transaction (we find a buyer for old part, you pay the difference)
  3. Software named Argus that syncs a users system to the exchange
    1. this can currently get the mobo, it's serial number and cpu (although its rough and has been deprioritzed as it's just me)
    2. Verifies parts they are in good shape, and
    3. Finds performance bottlenecks for potential part upgrades
      1. More Ram, gpu upgrade etc

Thats fair and thank your for the feedback! The first budget option is for under a thousand and still figuring out how the dynamic system generation would work with the various inputs (budget, system size etc) or if I should have a few static model for various budgets that I redo each year.

I think the goal here is to get the most minimal version of the system up and then at the end show things like quiet fans/heatsinks after getting a base budget established etc.

We have part compatibility and upgrade engine that from a cpu/motherboard can show compatible parts that prob just needs to further filter by price and release date etc to get the system generator built.
