38” Alienware - $1282

Nah, holding out with my 34" Alienware ultrawide (3440x1440) 120Hz G-Sync monitor until a 42" 4K/120Hz w/ VRR OLED comes out. I used a 43" curved 4K Samsung TV before my current monitor and it was perfect other than it only being 60Hz and no VRR. I miss having my quadrants of 1080p windows on one display while not gaming and doing any productivity tasks.

I have the original LG version with Gsync and it's been fantastic but as others have mentioned, I've heard this one can have some minor issues - still, it's a lot less money.

I think 38" 1600P is the ideal gaming format

I have this monitor and it is great. Alienware makes top quality stuff and is my go-to brand for monitor purchases as Dell has a great return/exchange policy on their top of the line displays.

The size of this monitor is perfect, and like others said the only upgrade from this monitor would be an OLED version of some kind. I'd take an ultrawide 38" Alienware OLED any day of the week.

Wouldn't recommend this monitor. I had two and both had issues. Just not a well implemented product. The design and exterior feel are the best parts.

I agree 38" 1600p is perfect, not to small to read on and not too big to swivel your head. I also have the LG and it's a beast, 175 hz is bitchin'.

No experience with the Alienware though.

I have this and no complaints here. Monitors are almost always luck of the draw. I gave up on getting a good LG copy and landed a great panel on the Alienware. It’s much easier dealing with Dell than it is LG or many other monitor manufacturers.

I have this monitor and love it. No issues whatsoever, and the perfect size/form factor.

This monitor is currently $1299 and $1169.99 with the 10% off you can get via email/physical flyer or 10% sign-up bonus. I have had it for a few months and love it. No issues with flickering, there's may be some backlight bleeding in the corners with full black but I don't fret about that anymore. Love the increase in monitor resolution over my AW3418DW, those extra vertical pixels bring it back to the hey day of 2560x1600 U3014 days. It also seems to do better for work usage as it will at least turn on when the current input powers on, but still isn't smart enough to switch inputs from sleep based on device wake.

3840x1600 is awesome for work and play though. More vertical than the 3440x1440p UW but not as demanding as full UHD 3840x2160p. Paired with a 3090 its a great compromise of high fps up to 144hz in FPS games and 60-100fps in intensive graphics games that benefit from G-Sync.

What exactly is "nano IPS" ? is it a plan on QLED technology and IPS in any way?
Nano IPS is (for practical purposes) LG’s modern IPS panels with fast response time and support for wide color gamut, which is part of the HDR spec. It is not like OLED or QLED - just a modern (and pretty good) IPS panel.

I think in theory it is also like "QLED" in that it uses nanoparticles to expand the color gamut of the light output. Both are just kinda marketing BS really though that really translate to "About DCI-P3 colour gamut."

I got this deal yesterday via Chat on the Dell site. (10% off of the sale price using a coupon that the rep emailed me and then applied to my order after i read it back to her. 1244.00 landed including sales tax with 3 years express exchange. I was going to go G9 for the feature set but I just felt this was the better value for me as a casual gamer.

I went with this monitor too. You should be happy you didn't go Samsung. I had 3 c32hg70 monitors in surround. EVERY SINGLE ONE FAILED. I have a whole other story of Samsung making an agreement to reimburse me, a signed agreement. Then changing their mind and removing my access to the case. Luckily I had downloaded it, and they still didn't care. One day I will probably try to make a nice post about the quality of Samsung customer care.

Then all of the issues I heard about the g7 and g9....

I got her in . The box scared the hell out of me however everything was fine on the inside. I have not finished set up however I did play a quick game of plunder quads. I got my arse kicked as i need to adjust to the new FOV.:) First in impression is asbosutely fabulouis right out of the box. Fit and finish are as good as my other premium Dell monitors. The stand is heavy however the panel is lighter than I expected. The visuals are excellent.

Don't ever check for greyscale uniformity on this panel unless you are prepared to return it the next minute...😝

The blacks are surprisingly better than the 32 TN panel that I have

Got this monitor early this year and it has been great. Upgraded from my Alienware 34” and haven’t looked back. Was going to go OLED however scared about burn-in so that was a no go.

These ultrawide LG panels are have always been prone to defects, that includes the 34's as well which couldn't do their rated 120 or more Hz. I had one all over with bad pixels. My current UW also has couple. So it's not just this monitor, but as long as you don't get a dud, you're getting an amazing monitor here. Would vouch for this.

Well mine has been perfect and the Dell 3 year express replacement is why i went with this instead of the Samsung 49. I
