Woot PC Peripherals and Logitech Harmony Remote Sale

Woot (owned by Amazon) is having a sale on PC peripherals and Logitech Harmony remotes. There is a Cooler Master mouse for only $27 and a $ 45 Antec 500w power supply. Of course the website has many more deals that change daily.

Logitech is no longer making Harmony remotes, so if you want one, you need to get one soon. They are selling through existing stock and then that's it. They say they'll keep adding device support, so it's worth buying if you into that sort of thing.
 
I just bought the Harmony Elite thru Best Buy....got sick of having to fumble around with 4 remotes. It's probably the cheapest most well supported DIY universal remote platform. Others like Savant or Crestron require purchase thru "dealers" who will probably charge a fee to program every time you want to change or add something.

not universal but NOTHING beats the LG Magic remote with its Wii like controls teehee

I have several lg tvs and honestly I prefer my Logitech harmony remote. The magic remote to me is a gimmick.

He’s pushing one button and it turns on the TV, the receiver and the Cable Box (or the Xbox or the DVD player or the Media player). I do often use the LG remote to navigate my shield, but that’s only because it doesn’t use much power. And occasionally I use one of the other remotes because I i’m switching between devices but don’t want to turn off anything but for the most part, the main thing that the LG remote is good at is navigating menus within the LG itself.

Now if it was point an click within the Shield or other devices, it might have a leg up.

I have both the Harmony Hub with Logitech remote and a newer LG OLED TV. The prob with the Harmony remotes now is that they don't track if a device is on or off, so if one of my family members use the TV remote to turn on the TV, the Harmony remote doesn't work because it's not tracking which device it needs to control and what the "activity" is. Or actually the more common issue is that we'll be in an activity with the TV and other devices and we'll turn the TV off with its own remote or whatever and the Harmony still thinks it's on, so when we come back to start a new activity with a different device, it will only turn on the additional ancillary device and leave the TV and speakerbar off, confusing anyone else using the remote besides me.

So for my setup at least, I've stopped using the Harmony hub/remote and let HDMI CEC control everything in my entertainment center and it has simplified everything much more actually. When I turn on/off my TV, PS5, or Xbox consoles, HDMI CEC will also turn everything else on/off with it, which is perfect most of the time. The only time that's an issue is if I turn off the TV from playing a console and my wife or kids come in to watch TV and since the TV's last HDMI input was on the game console, it will turn the console back on with the TV, so you have to wait for the console to boot and then navigate to turn it back off before switch the input to my Shield TV or whatever (which still isn't a big deal because my LG remote can still control/navigate the PS5/Xbox through HDMI CEC).

So I'm actually in agreeance with the X, that even with my 5 devices in my entertainment center, the LG remote is actually much simpler than using my Harmony remote since everything is in sync with HDMI CEC. But I understand that if you have a device that isn't HDMI CEC compatible, then that kind of throws a wrench into things and maybe the clunky Harmony solution is still the way to go as long as you can keep everything in sync and maybe hide all other remotes so you can avoid confusion when a device state is not what the Harmony remote is tracking. This issue alone is kinda what pushed me to drop my 5.1 receiver setup since it doesn't seem like there's going to be any decent HDMI 2.1 receivers on the market anytime soon and I def want that 4k/120hz with VRR capability to be there on my consoles that 2.1 allows for.
