[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

FYI, for anyone interested in a EVGA 3090 FTW3 and already has a EVGA card purchased in the last 90 days, in my experience they handle the requests for a 3090 FTW3 stepup VERY quickly -- like 3-5 days for approval. If you're waiting for a 3080 FTW3 step-up, however, forget it - you're probably looking at months of leadtime since the whole world is on that queue (even the little old lady that lives next door and stands in her driveway with her robe half open - is in the 3080 FTW3 queue).

What if my evga card is from a prebuilt? Does that still qualify?

Prebuilt is tricky, since the invoice probably doesn't break out the GPU into a separate line item like if you bought a bunch of separate PC components all on the same Newegg order or whatever. You may have to call them and ask.

The EVGA website will probably let you register the card, but then when it asks you to upload invoice and a human at EVGA reads it, they may reject it.

The final, nuclear option would be some kind of dummied up invoice, but of course that would break legal, ethical, and religious boundaries - nevermind violate the geneva convention - and we certainly couldn't condone that here.
Yeah some prebuilts specify exact parts, this wasnt one of those times unfortunately.

Damn wish I would have seen this before I entered the step up (yesterday). Is it too late to back out and do a step up for that card?

As long as you're in your 90 day post purchase window, you can cancel your current step-up and set up a different one as many times as you want.
Each time, you'll be placed at the back of the queue.

Oof, that's quite the difference in price between a 3070 XC and a 3090 FTW. Do you have to get your step up fulfilled in the 90 days, or just request within the 90 days? Oh, I guess the latter. So a 3080 FTW step up request would put you behind all the other people (and that little old lady) in the purchase queue?

Yeah, I ended up canceling out of the 3090 FTW3 queue when they were ready for payment, because the spread wasn't worth it since they only credit original MSRP of the GPU you're stepping up from, and I paid an inflated $900 for the 3070. Which makes me wonder why they require an invoice upload at all if they just disregard what you actually paid.

We're close enough now to 3080 Ti that I will prob just wait and try stepping up to that, once again joining the whole world that will also be trying to step-up to that and therefore will never get, all the while muttering "should've just gotten the 3090 in May".

Oh crap, I didn't even think about the 3080Ti. That sounds like a good way to split the difference. Thanks, I was going to just punt and jump into the 3080 queue. Now I can mull it over for a while longer.

Now I'm wanting an Xbox Series X. Look like I'm back on the hunt! Hopefully it'll be somewhat easier to get than a PS5 and new GPU.

They credited me my over MSRP buy from Fateka.com from a RTX 3070 to 3080 stepup, though. I paid $770 or something from Fateka (computer store here in the MVA), and only had to pay like $90 or something to make up for the MSRP of the 3080.

I'll be damned. STILL in stock. And now price-cuts!

I went and picked up a 5900X from a local MC. That 5800X is coming down in per-core price, interesting...

I've got all my parts except: mobo, and a gpu.

I'm waiting on the mobo until I get a GPU. I don't have a bot, I just have F5 and ctrl+F5. I hope I can pickup a GPU from AMD at a reasonable price.

The 12 and 16-core Ryzens are actually reasonably profitable for mining, at least with Nicehash. Especially when set to 65w mode in the BIOS.

I just looked at their profitability calculator and they say a 5950x at my electric cost of 0.19 would be $1.76/day. Can't imagine dumping down to 65w would increase the efficiency enough?

But perhaps the workers are buying them, mate? Taco cn see many media creationists fi ally decide it's time to upgrade and faithfully seek out these gems. If it's for work, perhaps price doesn't matter since it'll pay for itself right quick with faster rendering times.

Nt sure...
I doubt we have that many [H]are men out there just wanting a fast processor to upgrade to and play games that n
If people really need 5900x and 5950x for work, I hope they are getting them. It would probably actually be easier for them to go the Threadripper route at this point, although it would be much more expensive. But, time is money, right?

My 5950x is going to help me quite a bit with my work, but work doesn't pay for my hardware so I didn't mind waiting to get it. truly the single core performance is the largest factor, Threadripper would be wasted on me.

A buddy told me at lunchtime that he was looking for a PS5.
I sent him the Discord link at 12:32pm central. He got a PS5 from Gamestop within the hour.

He is sold now

I'm lurking daily. Already got a XSX from last Target drop, but that went to some friends who had promised their kid one for Christmas- only 5 months late.

Now just waiting for the next XSX drop from MS so I can use my reward points. Lots of good info on Tech Drops.

Been looking at Ebay and the 3090's are still in the $3K range for the most part with the Kingpins going for $4K+. Insane imho....

That's two trucks days now that Rockville has had decent drops - assuming people are telling the truth lol.
60+ line on Tuesday and supposedly 20 3070s (Asus and MSI) for Thursday. I dunno, someone mentioned they had 3060Ti cards on Tuesday, and that raised alarms considering how rare they are. Well, I got a busy week at work anyway, so not like I can verify any of this.

Real question is when they get any eVGA stock though - I'd rather not pay that markup that MSI/Gigabyte/Asus all have on their cards.

You don't think $650 per year is worth running when the value of the payout is likely to only increase further as crypto gains further acceptance? Especially when the machine is already running for GPU mining?

We come from different schools of finance apparently. :p

Where do you guys live that your electric bills are so low. In Illinois if I'm just using enough electricity to run the dishwasher twice a week, the washer and dryer twice a week energy efficient light bulbs keep the fridge running and light entrainment usage for a month I'm paying $45 to $50 a month. If the wife and I go on gaming binges on the weekends my bill easily doubles or more.

Hah that is low! $250/month just for two laptops (for work), a router, fridge, and diswasher twice a week. Plus those "ultra efficient" led lights for a few hours at night. We use so little iits crazy and our bill is insanely high here in the north east.
