Looking for headphones with removable cord

If all you care about is removable cord and cheap, a lot of bluetooth headphones can use detachable 3.5mm cords.
looking now I see that, but wouldn't the features be less at the same price point being wireless? I do care about more than just cheap w' removable cord; good sound, especially in vocals (mids?) not too bassy and most of all comfortable, like the earpad's cushion.

Yes, but there aren't many cheap non Bluetooth with removable cords. And Bluetooth is actually very inexpensive now so it will really expand your selection.

I looked a couple months ago on Amazon, but I couldn't find anything I liked and ended up getting some $10 Sony that doesn't detach. I was looking for something to use with my Quest 2 so it needed to be on ear.

I have those Monoprice headphones and have been using them for a couple of years and quite like them. They're cheap in price but have decent sound to my ears although my recent experience with headphones is limited to the Monoprice headphones. That said they tend to be by far the best sounding headphones for the price. The only downside to the headphones is the build quality which isn't a surprise for the price. After a couple of years the padding for the ears is starting to crack. It's not to the point where it's noticeable to me but it's there. It would also be a bad idea to be rough with them. The plastic is not exactly the highest quality but even after a couple of years of daily use nothing has broken.

I understand the desire to have the removable cord. I don't think I'll ever go with another pair of headphones without it since it's way too handy not to have. I have a cord for use on the computer which is much longer than the ones included because I need to be able to move around a bit now and then and it's nice not having to take off the headphones for those few seconds. I also use them outside the house when doing things like cutting grass so I swap the cord for one of the shorter ones the headphones came with. Even that super thin cord which you would think would fall apart in a couple of hours is still working perfectly. The other reason I want detachable cords is because if the cord gets hooked on something the cord will simply unplug from the headphones instead of getting ripped out ruining the headphones. In my years the main problem I've ever had with headphones is the cord going bad. A detachable cord eliminates the issue of having to throw out perfectly good headphones because the cord went bad. A cord goes bad and I simply replace it.

I totally agree, is always the cord that breaks with us as well. I'm surprised you've had yours for so long, from the Amazon reviews/pics there seems to be a high breakage rate, mainly at the swivel. Guess it's QC issue and you got a good pair.

I have two pair of Philips Performance SHP9500 and really like them. No sweat open back. Detachable cord.
They are for my 11yr old son's b'day, do you think they'd be too large for his head?

These are open back headphones so anything your son listens to you’re going to hear.

They are really big, but they would probably still fit.
I assumed these were more expensive than you were looking for. The sound quality can't be beat for the price. I love mine.

In the past, the Phlips SHP9500's would often go on sale. I don't think I paid over $50 USD for either of mine.

And yes, they are open back. Usually not a huge problem unless you're listening to something cranked up very loud. But, because they do leak more sound, they aren't for everyone.

The headphones have been replaced with a newer version... I have no info about those. Edit: There is this:

Open back is ok (unless, can objects go thru the open back and pierce the speakers?) He'd be using them in his room but with door open and is small place, might be better if he can hear us as well. The are a bit over budget but seem durable and comfortable; but if they're so large won't they fall off his head?

They have a caging on the outside so they can't really be pierced. They don't sit tight on the head so they could fall off. They're very loose compared to other headphones.

Ah, so close; if they were tighter, but he does move fast; some hope though, got this close.

Well, I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but I'd re-consider this.
A detachable cord can be changed, true, but the plug and socket are actually another potential failure point.
It's very easy to replace the cord in any headphones, and you can even choose a thicker/thinner shorter/longer one - whatever you need.

Vmoda

All models.

The non BT sets have dual jacks so you can daisy chain...

Fwiw, I have the vmoda crossfade wireless and its better wired than with Bluetooth. The later models come closer in bt performance, but even that first gen model sounds great on bt.

You could just go with a used pair of HD580s or similar. Those go for near $100 if you look out for deals and have removable cords.

This is true but some people might think they are heavy.

I have the crossfade wireless 1 and 2 (codex), the xs and 2 pairs of m100. Mostly I use the cfw2 for calls and the m100s for gaming but i love that they will all take a 3.5mm cable...

I cant tell if the m100 is discontinued or not, they have several new models but none of them come in white.

I feel like being bought by Roland put them on a downhill slide.
