Going to buy my wife her own computer and a laptop would be best for her. She mainly plays WoW, and will be playing the up-coming D2 remake. WoW is more CPU bound and the 4600H looks to be a great option. GTX 1650, 1080P screen, decent cooling. Looking to stay in the 850$ range. Wish List

Ryzen 4XXXH or Core i5 9th gen or higher
16GB Ram
1-2 SSD slots(256 min)
14-15.4inch screen
decent build quality
GTX 1650 min prefer a 1660ti or better
Normal size and weight(no need for super slim or super light weight)

I recently bought a gateway gaming laptop (gwtn156-3bk) with an RTX 2060 for $720 on ebay (refurb). I see them go on sale in the $800s pretty often and I think MSRP is $999. That would be one of my top picks in the price-range.

All the reviews I've read mirror my experience: Great specs, needs a $50 RAM upgrade, but the fans can be loud. Coming from an alienware m15 r3 it's much lighter / slimmer, not-quite ultraportable, and a little louder. Build quality probably isn't as good, especially when it comes to heatsinks, but you do get smaller size / weight out of it and I like the keyboard more.

dell also has the G5 15 SE Gaming Laptops but not sure if its on the US site as it always revert to CAN for me...

AMD Ryzen™ 7 4800H Mobile Processor with Radeon™ Graphics
Windows 10 Home English
AMD Radeon™ RX 5600M 6GB GDDR6
16GB, 2x8GB, DDR4, 3200MHz
256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
15.6-in. display
$1150CAN

I went ahead and grabbed the Legion 5. I know the 3060's are inbound state by summer(ETA) I decided not to wait. The Lenovo looks to have better build quality and screen is much better over the Nitro 5. I will report back when recieved and I get a fresh install of 10 Pro vs home on the new 1TB NVME.2 SSD vs the tiny 256GB. The 1660ti seems to be faster than the 5600M. Also prefer nvidia for GPU's due to better drivers and better performance per watt

Probably a bit late unless the Legion 5 is returnable but Best Buy just got in the MSI GF65 with the 3060 for $1000

Specs are a bit bare bones Low end Core I5 10th gen, 8GB ram, and small 3 cell battery. Also unsure on MSI's build quality.

Yea, CPU is a bit weak but shouldn't have a problem running WOW and normal browsing. You also get 512GB SSD which you can get by with and adding another 8-16GB of ram is probably cheaper than than replacing the 256GB SSD (which is almost a must). MSI been around for a while and while they're not top rank, their stuff is generally OK (have a couple friends with 3 years old MSI laptop still running fine). I guess at this price point, there's always a bit of compromise.

The legion has 16gb ram and I already have a 1tb inland pro premium. It also has the 4800h which should allow this machine longer life over the slow core i5. The pros are coming this summer but the 1660ti is not to far behind the 3060

True since you already got upgrades for the Legion. But it maybe viable for someone who wants a low cost 3060.

Got this one and can't recommended it more, it's great for gaming. Also a very strong point is the black level and contrast of the screen. At 0.18cdm for the blacks and 1485:1 contrast (true measurements) the display is top notch here. Color gamut not great tough but that's something for graphical designers. Not an issue with gaming.
This laptop at this pricepoint is a no-brainer when you're looking for a dedicated gaming laptop.

You got the model with the 10500H? Still happy with it? Do you have any benchmarks for gpu? Trying to decide if this will be good enough for decent VR with Q2 or will I need a 3060 model that can do more wattage.

This laptop at this pricepoint is a no-brainer when you're looking for a dedicated gaming laptop. Sounds like a VA panel and not IPS. Still sounds like a great machine for mostly gaming. Wife is not always gonna be gaming :)
