The 32 inch 4k IPS 144hz's...(Update - this party is started) (wait for it...)

https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/blog/a...vrr-1152-zone-miniled-backlight-and-hdr-1400/

Asus ProArt PA32UCG listed on Amazon UK and France site now. Looks like you can pre-order as well. An Australian etailer Mwave also has it listed. Getting close...
This monitor looks absolutely fantastic, but I have one concern with it - the speed of its FALD when gaming. I know that the Nvidia GSYNC Module is specifically tuned to help with processing for very fast FALD, and I am interested in seeing how slow it is without that.

Despite those specs the pro art is not a gaming monitor. There will be a mini led gaming sku from Asus with similar specs but price and suitability for gaming will differ.

Yeah - the Viewsonic and the Asus that drops a letter from the top end one are supposed to be more reasonably priced.

However the panel forecast remains grim for the next few months

RIP HDR1400.

Is that just cheaping out on the backlight, or are they swapping panels? If so, for cost or availability reasons? Or the panel maker failing to deliver on promises I guess...
Most of these monitors boasting high brightnesses are talking about peak brightness in a small portion of the screen. Full-screen peak brightness is very often much lower. If there's no local dimming the only value they can market is the full screen peak brightness.

Yeah. HDR's not going to be driving any of my LCD buying decisions anytime soon. Until they get to ~10k dimming zones at a non-insane price premium they're going to have massive halos; and since i use my monitor indoors only I don't need crazy brightness levels for general use anyway. Under those circumstances, all else equal, I'd rather go with a non-HDR display and spend the difference on something else.

I did not notice this before, but Viewsonic has quietly ninja edited the announcement.

3q 2021

HDMI 2.1
FreeSync
That looks like a different model monitor that Viewsonic announced, right? Basically equivalent to the Asus PG32UQ. Viewsonic also has the Elite XG321UG coming out with the same specs as the PG32UQX, e.g. 4K, 144Hz, Gsync Ultimate, 1,152 MiniLED panel.

Zheesh - this has not been my day (or two) for accuracy

Clearly they bought the same spec panels from AUO as Asus.

I was thinking the Asus was "the" monitor, but I'm having a hard time with the 3k USD price tag. Hopefully the ViewSonic is not priced similarly!

DisplayHDR says that the peak brightness needs to happen in a 10% window. This is larger than the 2% window manufacturers have been trying to get away with before. So if the monitor is certified DisplayHDR 1400 then it should reach that brightness using that metric.

A recent rumor has the Acer XB323QK NV still being a possible release early this summer (including having already seen a limited release in select Asian markets). This is their Non-FALD 32, not the X32 renamed. If true; this could bode well for a release worldwide in the near future.

Same rumor suggests that all the delays are from the global parts shortages, including sub-component manufactures who do stuff like HDMI 2.1 ports, etc. Purportedly already shipping in China.

This price - if true, would put the monitor at close to $2k ( https://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/cbnbstore/xb323qk.html )

(ahem - making the UQX look better and better)

-- although other stuff I've seen suggests it's closer to $1200 USD.

Reddit has a pic of the box - if you are into that kind of thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/nbednt/acer_xb323qk_start_shipping_at_china_the_first/
(just means it's more plausible that it could be 'soon')

A bit more: Looking like Acer went with the Innolux panel (similar to Gigabyte). Unboxing pics: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https://www.chiphell.com/thread-2325375-1-1.html

Hmm, so makes me wonder if the X32 is still coming. Because looking at the PG32UQX stock, that isn’t exactly easy to procure either. Asus’s own web store never showed in stock either.

I also wonder if that’s why the PA32UCG still hasn’t been released. Aside from delays on HDMI 2.1 ports and other sub-components, I’m curious if AUO is having trouble with supplying enough panels. Taiwan is dealing with their most severe outbreak since the pandemic started.

I haven’t seen any mentions of Innolux’s 10,000-1 million zone panels for a while either. Looks like we’ll have longer before we actually have some choices and competition in the high-end 32” market.

I would like to believe it and the Viewsonic will make it to market... But if you think about it, Asus beating them by so much puts them in a weird position. How many people are itching to buy a $3k panel?

$1200 is pretty steep when fast ips 1440 27s are $500-ish.

Okay - according to this, the Aorus FI32U is shipping early July

(They start out saying late June, but ~ 24:30 change to 'early July'. )

'Acer stated on request that the Predator XB323QK NV should not appear until September'

Quote translation from a German site.

I just wish I could find out something... anything... about ViewSonic's plans.

The way it looks now is that we should see a 400 nit and a 600 nit solution hitting the market in the next 4-6 weeks (Gigabyte & Asus, respectively) with the Acer (400 not) possibly coming in as a challenger to Gigabyte - if they beat the projections of the German site above (Sept) and prove the rumors I've seen out of Asia correct (US/EU launch approx. 1 month after SEA launch). If Acer and ViewSonic (600 nit) don't 'hit the ground running' they're virtually ceding the 'early adopter' / 'been waiting two years for this' crowd (like me) to their competitors.

Perhaps the only thing they actually care about at this point is having a product to sell by Thanksgiving/Christmas. (insert glum face)

Yeah, definitely been a frustrating waiting game, especially given they were announced so long ago. I picked up the 2021 Sony 43" display to try out yesterday and it was a bust. I guess one thing it showed me though is that 43" is way too big for my desk. I measured beforehand and it didn't *seem* to be that much bigger but actually having it in front of me was a big difference. 32" is definitely the right size for me, now impatiently waiting for release.

I like the fact that the Gigabyte doesn't need an external power brick. Definitely prefer just having a regular power cord.

I still find it hilarious that retail monitors ship with all the kiosk advertising stuck to the monitor. If companies want to go "green" then this should be one of the things they stop doing.
Blame the lack of bezels. The marketing hype dept won't allow them not to plug the crap (and if it's for 3rd party IP they might be contractually required to put a sticker on for some of it); but because the bezels are too small they have to stick it on the edge of the screen itself.

I'm going to cautiously say this should be a good thing. Gunking up the screen is bad, so whatever they used to attach it should peel off cleanly and easily; putting it one up on a lot of laptop stickers I've struggled to clean off over the years.

I still have stains from the adhesive residue in one of the corners of my PG27UQ. It's on the bezel, but still bothers me because I know it's there...

Thinking of picking up the FI32U. I like the feature set and could use some extra desktop space to go with my CX 48. Since the CX does a good job with HDR I don't mind the HDR400.

The only challenge is mounting it all. I have the CX 48 on a floor stand and could raise it significantly but not sure if it would fit nicely with a 32" screen under/in front of it. Otherwise need to probably reconfigure my setup so that they can fit side by side.

https://www.aorus.com/monitors/AORUS-FI32U/Specification

Gigabyte is doing everything that a company might do for an imminent release: giveaways, the website is updated - links to where to buy... Love it!

Acer and Asus - everything I can find tells me these are out soon (US/EU - Acer is already available SEA). But - both companies are friggin SILENT. Aorus might steal the show with the 400 nit AFFORDABLE (yeah, $1k) 32 inch fast IPS 4k... leaving Asus (600 nit) and Acer (400 nit) sucking hind teat.

Acer's XB323something is apparently out in some markets but it's hard to find even any full specs and feature set of that damn thing because Acer website is a pile of crap.

I do agree though. Gigabyte have really put the right kind of effort into this display lineup and the only reason they are less than good seem to be the panel capabilities and they can't do much about that. While I would prefer cheaper prices, that price range is not completely unreasonable to me compared to say the 38" high refresh rate ultrawides launching at nearly 2000 euros with similar specs or the massive premium you pay for the PG32UQX just to have FALD.

Asus and Acer have been teasing us longer than Gigabyte has and now it seems like Gigabyte will beat them to market. Seriously tired of the other companies teasing monitors then going silent for months on end, sometimes over a year.

Well the other factor is that the smaller Aorus monitors are getting really good reviews. Going to be hard for Asus / Acer to come in late and try to compete on name recognition and quality.

I'm guessing that they're banking on Aorus running out of supply

I am definitely interested if it's around $1k. I have HDR nothing so HDR400 + 4K resolution with higher than 60hz refresh rate and it having VRR is more than enough for me to want to upgrade to it. I am just itching for a monitor upgrade from my 8 year old Dell 3014.
