That's weird. The case doesn't have a solid top or anything that would hold heat..?

No. That vapor chamber on radiators from GPUs is guilty. Sadly i bought card from scalper and cant refound it now, cant sell it and only way for me is to change case for standard layout, all aluminum. That's weird. The case doesn't have a solid top or anything that would hold heat..?
I run a Asus TUF 3090 in my RV-02 tweeked for silent running. With the card fans off it cruises along at a nice cool 43C. When full-on gaming it never rises much above 60C.The Alta F1 is appealing to me but I have really no clue if my Asus TUF 3090 will work in it.

Does rotating the cards got any impact on temps? You people propably wont believe but i changed GPU specially for that case - for XFX 6800 XT, it is 34cm long, but it will hold up on the fan rails. Back in queque for Alta F1 i guess
Gonna test it propably this or next wekend.Does rotating the cards got any impact on temps?
I also agree, more PCI slots woult be better specially for GPU temps. As You said, most of new GPU's are 3 slot, leaving very tiny gap between GPU cooler and PSU Shroud - last GPU fan (on top) will recycle hot air from its own cooler, unless pressure from case fans will be high enough to pomp fresh air to the top GPU fan, but even then, that fress air will instantly get out of case through top case fans. The more I think about Alta F1, then I get impression it's not so well-engineered case. Why? Because (except fitting longer graphics card), it got all FT02 downsides and even more:
- only 7 PCI-E expansion port. (It's even worse that FT02 case, because you can add 8ght port easily, except card cannot bee too long, because HDD cages)
(I know that on some of the videos I saw S1 or something similar(maybe Raven) with 8 PCI expansion slots, so maybe there were different prototypes). I also don't see a problem with DVD drives in top bay, because angled SATA connectors are easier to buy(I've tested and it fits perfectly with last PCI slot populated)
- only 2* 3.5" drives vs 5 in FT02 (PSU cannot bee too long too)
- only 2* 2.5" drvies(yes it's more than FT02 theoretically, except in FT02 there is plenty of 5.25, 3.5 bays and space under DPU and PSU)
- no 5.25" bays at all (I fully understand this decision)
Tony Ou: When I can fully understand decision about removing 5.25" bays and leaving only two 3.5" (in times of 20TB HDDs and SSDs), I think that the biggest problems of FT02 are:
- longer graphics card won't fit(Alta fixed it, but it's not enough, to cal it a day!)
- only 7 PCI-E slots (it was problem at beginning, why it still persists in new "Enthusiast case". And rotated case is best for multi-GPU PRO cards. And any such card requires at least 3 three slots. You've reduced case depth so much by removing 5.25" bays, so you could easily make this case 11 or even 12 slots. Even 8 or 9 would be enugh to use 3* GPUs or other accelerators, and some cards could be mounted on PCI-E expanders. Like you should guess AI guys will need plenty of GPUs and fast storage(preferably Optane, that goes into PCIe slots, or 2.5" bays as U.2[with special adapters], but adding PCIe Edge cards is easier). Removing deprecated bays, should allow new possibilites, but there's no space left to expand this case in any way. Enthusiasts wants expand-ability, not fancy SFF case ;-)
I don't fully understand now.Gonna test it propably this or next wekend.
No, but its little bit complicated and i didnt fully described what happened;I don't fully understand now.
1) You got XFX RX 6800XT MERC that worked very bad in rotated position in Cosmos, so you had to revert rotation.
2) You exchanged it for different RX6800XT, but also from XFX company. Right?
Here is another review in Chinese, you can set it to auto-translate caption in YouTube setting:
As to making an ALTA case bigger for enthusiasts that need the room, we did have an ALTA S1 for that purpose. But as many of you know, that project is still in suspension!
A HAF XB might be a tight fit, depending on whether you use a water cooler or not. I could just squeeze a watercooled rx480 in with a 60mm radiator and fans on one side, fwiw.I wish someone could hug me or just pat on the shoulder right now. GPU is over 20 degree warmer in vertical position
Overall;
GPU Vertical
- Junction : Over 97+ degree
- Core : 67 degree
CPU Vertical
- 84 degree
GPU Horizontal (standard)
- Junction : 77 degree
- Core : 65 degree
CPU Horizontal
- 86 degree
XFX 6800 XT MERC
Ryzen 5800X
2 x 32GB RAM 3933Mhz CL 17
B550 Tomahawk
Dark Power P11 850W Platinum
Cosmos C700P (now standard ) - 3 x 140mm fans on front, 2 x 140mm fan exhaust on top, 1 x 140mm rear. For testing purpose in vertical layout i putted one of tp exhaust fan (this one more to the front, above RAM) straight under Video outputs in GPU, so it was working as exhaust also and simulate Alta F1 exhaust fan.
How did i tested:
My own profile for Radeon settings - min. frequency 500Mhz, max frequency 2300Mhz, voltage 1000mV, memory max clock 2000Mhz, Power limit -2%, max fans RPM 24 %. Tested with furmark for 5 minutes.
CPU duesnt really matter as its 2-3 degree difference, but this GPU cooler seems to be also deffective - i mean it must be called "defective" if it cannot work in 90 degree layout and manufacturer doesnt warn about it. Have no idea how much more Radeons have that issue (which brands) and if RTX is also defective.
I'm really sad about resoult, and mad about this fact. I have to completly change my plans for the case, propably honna get CM Haf XB + Demciflex dust filters.
I think that checking results with Raijintek Morpheus (or other 3rd party cooler) would be cheaper than buying another case or graphics card. Especially because Moprheus II is hard to buy, but easy to sell, because of hard availability from non-scalpers in Poland and generally Europe.A HAF XB might be a tight fit, depending on whether you use a water cooler or not. You have no idea how i wanted that case, but problem is, my GPU is 34,2cm long. It wont fit. I have almost zero options, even for Cube Towe, only that odd Core X5, or Level 20 XT from Thermaltake, or even worse - Lian Li o11 dynamic with that "fancy" double 80mm on back and cooler limit to 155mm (i have Scythe Fuma 2, and it barelly fits there need to space the side panel).A HAF XB might be a tight fit, depending on whether you use a water cooler or not. This GPU is IMHO ugly in comparison to Radeon VII.You have no idea how i wanted that case, but problem is, my GPU is 34,2cm long. It wont fit. I really wonder about some RTX GPU, but i wont sell kidney to get one. Performance and loudness of this XFX Radeon is wonderfull, i dreamed about this GPU since i first saw it in 2020. Now i can get some EATX case and flip it or... i dont know. I would love to see case that you can invert layout to your needs and place it however you want... AND IF IT WONT SHOOT AS CRAZY THAT WOULD BE MINE CURRENT CASE.
Yeah but, you know... Tastes are just tastes, someone like it, some not. This GPU is IMHO ugly in comparison to Radeon VII.
Vega 64 black-red with blower-style cooler is ideal for rotated cases, but times when prices were 750zł will never come back (I hope I'm wrong..but..)
I dont trust those small radiators which are holding only on glue-thermal-paste. I have tried something totally different and i think it works. But why not try Raijintek Morpheus?
It works with 6800XT and used one usually costs 100-200zl.
On the other hand it's the best cooler, passive, so it's easy to mount any fans on them, so it will lasts forever (with fan swaps overtime)
And in the worst case if it will not work good enough in rotated position, you will still have best cooler for normal orientation. So it's a win-win in any case ;-)
Thats what i writed - its alta f1 on side + fans on its front (so in the final on the top of my case). No, it's not like Alta, because it's not rotated.
There were many cases like this before called "wind tunnels" by some users, look at Lian Li PC-90 (I've always lost auctions on allegro, it's rare)
So it's not so unique and special like rotated Silverstone cases, but it's more compatible with similar bench results.
I see you've painted your Noctua cooler, or is it stock? And what about fan(I guess it's Chromax Edition)? I've painted my cooler without disassembing (even fan, but taped a bit), using spray paint (so there's gradient down the fins, wonder how yo've done yours)
Am I impressed by your build? No, because this XFX with pink 'RX' and generally white-blue lighting is so disgusting, I would tape any newspaper to the window to hide it
BTW, what is it this small black square thing lying on the bottom left corner? (looks like it's attached to PCI exnansion slots mounts)
My FT02 is already muh nicer...the problem is I cannot manage the cables on the back, because space there is so thick, 5*CP05 with long coubles and double molex connectors(each of them) and I'm doing first time build something with window...
So it's sitting like that untested still...I'm too lazy and laptop is enough for me (but I've got NES running and showed to kids ;-)
Anyway after I found that Alta got only 7 PCI slots like mine FT02s, I've ordered Silverstone TJ-11. Not as nice as FT02, but normally very pricey and rare (and I negotiated good price on it)
I would like to buy 5.25 accessories, so if anybody could help me finding black, metal (aluminium preferably) 5.25 drawers, optical drive masking bezels/overs, VFD/LCD panels(preferably with knobs), etc. Then please let me know. Especially in EU/Poland

So if Anybody is looking for upgrade to Silverstone Alta F1, I can recommend Silverstone Temjin TJ-11. With 9 PCI expansion slots, it's definitely upgrade.
Excellent news! I shall be patient a while longer for a limited release to Europe.I'll update again when I have information on ALTA F1 availability in other regions!
Pictures in rar got horrible deep directory nesting:ALTA F1's product page is now up on our website:
https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=991
No idea at this time, but please keep in mind that quantity is limited so you may not be able to get one locally in your country and it could be a couple of months before a distributor will get it in stock.Hey Tony Ou , how about Europe? How can we get our hands on that long awaited Alta F1??
I'm on the list for the US!Hi guys, we've decided to export a limited number of these cases to sell outside of China and currently negotiating with a couple of distributors/resellers. For North America, we will sell ALTA F1 directly to end users from our US office in Chino, California. So you may contact them to be put on the waiting list:
https://www.silverstonetek.com/contactus.php
We will be selling both black and silver versions.
I'll update again when I have information on ALTA F1 availability in other regions!
Edit: nvm, thought I was posting in a different thread for some reason...I'm on the list for the US!
Is it safe to assume pretty significant wait? Something like a case would have to be shipped on a boat I assume, and it sounds like this was a pretty recent decision.
Yes, it was a recent decision. The posts here on Hardforum were a factor which I used to help convince higher-ups to release ALTA F1 outside of China, albeit on a limited basis. So thanks to all of you that have participated in these threads! For US, expect about a month or two for the shipment to arrive.I'm on the list for the US!
