Justice League Official Trailer

splitting it up is for the people that don't want to watch a 4 hour movie

You can pause and resume from place in that situation. WB is clearly treating this as a miniseries. Also, consider that one of Snyder's pitches for this cut reportedly involved cliffhangers. With that in mind, having it not release at the same time makes sense. Also, if they were going to release all 4 parts at the same time why would they wait to release the combined edition? Just release all of it at the same time so people can choose which way to view it. HBO Max doesn't have ads nor does it make revenue based on views, so WB really wouldn't care how people watched it as long as it was watched.

You know other than... if they do 'monthly' releases and people feel a desire to see it they will make at least 4 months of subscription revenue off of the move. :)

I'm still guessing it's going to drop all at once...like I said a good comparison is Hateful Eight which released an Extended Cut on Netflix splitting the movie into 4 parts...the episode cutoff points made zero sense in that case and sometimes just cut off after some random conversation

for a movie like Hateful Eight or Justice League it was never designed to be split up

Right, I remember some of that but we never actually saw the character himself. Which made it even more disjointed for both fans with knowledge of the comics/characters (ie the paradaemons, the omega-type symbol etc) and even for those without (ie Luthor's "bell has been rung, he's coming" speech) that the theatrical cut only showed Steppanwulf who really felt like as "miniboss" at most; I was waiting to see Darkseid arrive later on and was disappointed when he didn't since it seemed to be incredibly heavy foreshadowing.
Well from what I gather of this new one, Steppanwulf is still the main bad guy, and Darkseid is a "flashback" so he's not really in the movie either, so I wouldn't get too excited about that.

That trailer alone has it seem like an almost entirely new film - I don't think we even saw Darkseid in the original. While I'm glad that this is coming and hope it is uncompromising in both film length and content, I can't help but feel a little disappointed if the direction of the DC film universe was upended on the back of the "bad" versions of "Batman vs Superman" and then "Justice League"; especially if the Snyder Cut receives both fan and critic acclaim.

No, the only thing we got was the one time Steppenwolf yelled out, "For Darkseid!" But for someone just watching the film that doesn't know anything about DC, they'd have no idea he was alluding to anything or what the hell it meant. They never made it seem like Darkseid was even a thing. I never understood it.

You have to build to the Big villain. Looks like they're going for another Grey Monster. Too bad, because MCU turned Thanos into a more DC Darkseid character with a more reserved manner and an overarching master plan with a purpose than Marvel's mad titan character. They even ditched the leisure suit costume for a more DS like short tights in IW. So I guess its been done before.

anyone check out the new Snyder Cut release on HBO Max?...what an improvement...everything is improved- action, story, pacing, character motivations etc...the basic framework of the story is the same but it feels like a completely different movie...even with the additions of DeSaad, Atom, Darkseid, Martian Manhunter etc the movie didn't feel bloated at all...4 hours just flew by...immediately after watching the Snyder Cut I went back and skipped through the original Justice League movie to make sure I wasn't crazy as so much was changed

it's worth a subscription to HBO Max just to watch the remastered version of Batman vs Superman and the Snyder Cut...I'm surprised Snyder didn't release a reworked version of Man of Steel...Warner Bros. needs to let the Snyder-Verse continue!

I watched it the week before last, was waaay better than that boring 2017 release. Indeed the 4 hour runtime seems absurd but I felt it went by quickly as the movie was quite entertaining.

Yar, it was really good. I think DC probably burnt too many bridges to continue the Snyder-verse at this point - but, I think if they would've let Snyder breathe a bit more in his films, the DC CU could've rivaled Marvel's CU.

I thought Batman V Superman was a drag (and too long), but I wonder if it would've benefitted from being longer - give time for Snyder to bring the characters together (and flesh out their arcs). Because, yeah, I agree with the others - even with the 4 hour runtime Justice League felt quick due to how well done its story was. I watched it in its entirety in one evening.

The DC movies as a whole are better than the Marvel's, it'd just be nice if they could stick to a plan.

Fight me me on my opinion that DC is better Marvel but how many Marvel films ever received best actor?

I think Marvel has a stronger cast of heroes, but nobody beats Batman. Best superhero of all time.

Also, I like that DC has done reboots and not tried to keep everything the same. The Joker movie was sick, and the new Batman looks insane.

the Marvel movies are overrated...people only remember the good ones so that clouds their judgement...the only great MCU movies were Iron Man 1, Winter Soldier, Ragnarok, Civil War, Infinity War and Guardians 1...there were more mediocre or bad MCU movies- Ant Man, Thor 2, Iron Man sequels, Dr. Strange etc

I count Dr. Strange among the good ones in the MCU. But the number of good DC movies I can barely count on one hand. To me they're Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Wonder Woman. I consider Joker to be a standalone, but would include it in that list. I haven't had the chance to watch the Snyder Cut, yet.

there haven't been as many DC movies in a shared universe like Marvel so it's not really a fair comparison...the Snyder Cut is the best of the bunch for me but along with the ones you listed Nolan's Batman trilogy was very good, the recent Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix, the 2019 Shazam movie...and the upcoming Suicide Squad movie directed by James Gunn looks really good

it's like a completely different movie...it's also 4 hours long so be prepared...

that wasn't the Snyder verse. I don't think anyone will argue that Christian Bale's batman and nolan's movies are not fantastic.

Overall though, Marvel has a more reliable track record of good fun movies, with the occational exceptional and a handful of early flops.

The problem with Snyder films imho is two fold, one he is an edgy teenager, two he needs double the time (running time) to actually put together a good, cohesive, movies.

There is no order to my lists.

Your more generous than I am, BvS and MoS where 6/10 movies. Best DC movies (outside of Nolan which are damn good movies) Shazam, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Snyder Cut. Yeah shazam and aquaman are super corny, but comics are corny.

Marvel Movies: Ironman, Antman (both are at least 7/10s), Dr. Strange, Captain America (all three), Thor Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider man (raime and new one except for the one movie we all know). Even the Avengers movies are generally 7/10s. Marvel does have their share of awful movies, those tend to be (almost) firmly older marvel movies before they found their rythm and footing (Thors, Ironman sequels, captain marvel).

Did y’all forget how bad Batman begins was?

The Dark Knight is a top 10 film of all time.

Snyder-verse is amazing. No doubt. I’m a marvel fan but I’m mad that I’ll be denied his vision. It seems epic. But it’s DC so big surprise they screwed it up.

Marvel literally is the gold standard for movies but DC kicks ass at TV shows.

I’d watch 10 justice league movies if they made more. Give me Martian man hunter, green lanterns, Apache chief, hawk man, and robin. I don’t know why but whenever DC really gets going to my tastes they cancel it. Batman TAS and Batman beyond are great too.

I think I mentioned this in the GenMay thread (or maybe stole the idea from someone else), but I think if HBO is looking for content for their streaming service - they should look at getting Snyder to adapt a Justice League series based on the 'Snyder-verse'. I think there'd be more interest in that series than even a Game of Thrones Prequel.

LOL I had to listen to someone tell me why American pie is the greatest American movie of all time for their dissertation at UCSB so you’ll excuse me if I doubt your opinion.
American pie is a fantastic song, one of the top 10 songs ever.

I wouldn't even consider the Godfather in top 10 either. Its a standard mobster movie, nowhere near something of the quality of Ben Hur.
Drop your top 10. I don’t even care to argue. You’re just having a hot take.

Snyder cut is a way different movie .. for the better .. The DC exec's need to get their collective heads out of their buttocks'es .. and have a singular vision to bring cohesiveness to the DC universe .. I'm guessing they are going to try and right "wrongs" with the multiverse of things .. but no amount of Multiversing is going to let me forgive them for Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
