Does anyone around here play it?

I've fallen in love with the game over the past few weeks. I bought it within a couple days of early access release on steam, but wasnt overly thrilled with it at first. It also didnt help that there were very few populated servers in the beginning, only 1-2 with the full 100 people, and maybe another 1-2 with ~50 people. Now on a normal weeknight theres 10-15 full servers and 3-5 medium pop servers. Weekends obviously see those numbers rise quite a bit.

Its a very communication heavy game, and requires you to listen to squad leader (Or other squad leaders + battle commander if you're the SL) to be part of an effective team. When I first got the game, it was incredibly rare to find a squad that talked, and the game was just... no fun. But as I've played on and off since then, Ive seen the amount of communication rise, and currently, its almost impossible to get in a squad that doesnt talk to each other.

The tank mechanics are fun, and again, very communication heavy. The tank commander position is completely useless without communication, as they dont have weapons, only a scope to look around and spot enemies - and they're the only position that can easily spot stuff that isnt directly in front of the tank or the gun barrel, as the turrets rotate very slowly, and the driver can only look forward. This group of roles has always been pretty good for communication since the beginning, but its even better now that people are experienced in the three roles for each tank. Plenty of tanks to choose from, and more coming. Tiger, Panther, Luchs - Sherman, Stuart. The Pershing is coming I believe.

The game launched with 3 very good maps, has seen two D-Day beach maps added, Sainte-Mère-Église is being released within the next week. I find the maps are very detailed, and quite realistic when you look at the locations they are based on and images/videos from the battles in those areas. Hurtgen Forest is definetly like the real location, and fucking brutal to do anything in, especially for tanks... narrow roads and paths, and no ability to go off them easily due to the thick trees outside of the heavily barraged areas - its possible, but you have to move in first gear at 2km/h to navigate the trees.

Maps are pretty large, I *think* usually 1-2km wide by 2-4km long. Just a guess, I never actually looked up size, but knowing that Ive had to run over 1.5km to meet up with my squad at times and they were only near the middle of the map...

The game will have at least 6 more maps added at the minimum that they have commited to. They'll add in a Russian front and forces with at least two maps first, Operation Market Garden with British forces and at least two maps, and the Pacific with the Japanese and at least two maps.

The most amazing thing about this game, though, is the community. By far, they are the most awesome group of FPS players I have ever had the pleasure of playing and talking with. Incredibly helpful and willing to teach new players the ropes in all roles, even the battle Commander role. 95% of the time, if a squad needs a role filled, someone is willing to swap from their role to whats needed to make the squad more effective. People dont generally get angry over mistakes, and theres a lot of pretty funny comments and shenanigans in the local voice comms while guys are just going about the grisly duty of war. And its pretty gory if thats your thing.. blown off legs, arms, heads... Ive come across just a torso before, everything else was splattered around it from an almost direct artillery hit.

Theres a few problems with the game, as it is still in development. But the dev team is incredibly responsive and active in their discord server, and they play the game pretty regularly as well.

It's also priced at an incredibly reasonable $30 at this point in time, so you arent out AAA money - despite the fact that I personally believe its worth AAA money now, and will be even more so as they continue to add content and fix problems.

cdkeys.com has it for $13. just bought it. there was a recent update for the game. from the video I watched, this game and post scriptum are very similar but post scriptum is more of a copy of squad(made by same devs). hell let loose is slightly less hardcore. unlimited sprinting, different spawn system so getting back to action takes less time.

this game has double the amount of active players that post has.

games fun but don't play it that often anymore.. sadly most of the group i played with also ended up being victims of an annoying ass bug where certain maps refused to load or forced a complete game restart to get a map to work and even that didn't always fix it so a huge section of the community left the game during that time since the dev's took for ever to fix the problem. but none the less it was still fun trolling the enemy team with a group of 8-10 people sweeping around the edge of the maps and massacring the enemy from behind. :)

I started playing again a few days ago. its fun, I wish performance was better still. the new animations make it a less janky experience. I dont want to lower my settings, the game looks nice maxed. heres some screenshots. adding the dx12 launch option in steam seemed to help the fps

Solid gun fights if you can join a server that has multiple squads working together, and a competent commander.

I've had some of the best fights in a multiplayer shooter in this game. Not to mention the nearly 90+ minute battle helps create the immersion of an ever lasting and brutal war WW2 was.

is this a more realistic shooter?

Definitely.

You don't even get a hit sound or a pop-up when you kill someone.
Except a very very very slight "ding" if you get a headshot.

Plus it's like 1 shot kills. Maybe 2 at the most.

You'll die a lot getting the hang of things, and swear to Odin himself trying to figure out where the shooter came from lol.

But, it's fun.

Also to note - check out their discord server. Devs are highly active in there, and so is the userbase. Always someone to squad up with.

How fast paced is it? I am too old/slow to handle games like COD

If you die and there's no close spawn points - you'll be running for a bit...

But battles aren't fast paced like Battlefield or Call of Duty. Spawns are upwards of 30+ seconds depending on the spawn point and the maps are quite large.
Everyone's on foot(minus the tanks), so things take a bit to get into an explosive battle scene. It's not even close to as fast paced as the main stream shooters. You'll love it.

I played all of one game so my experience is limited but a lot, lot slower than cod. A lot more tactical
Nice might give it a try. I read some steam user reviews and saw a lot of negativity about the game both there and in the forum but I am still interested.

Played for an hour or so. It feels and looks good. Anyone want to team up and play? I'm on the east coast US. Or does anyone have any suggestions for a good, low-key relaxed clan or server to play on?

Just tried it out. Basically what I thought it was. Slow and full of spawn killing. Looks good though. I did not have fun.

The only thing I wish is that the player moved faster, feels like I have cinderblocks on my feet.

dont give up on it yet. if you're getting spawn killed pop smoke and fall back. or pick a different spawn.

This entirely.

Pick a squad that's communicating(you can swap squads all match long until you find a competent one). Tell them you're new, most players will help, follow your squad(ask squad leader what class they need) and go from there.

Nah. I'm gonna pass. The combat is great, realistic I guess. The movement however is absolutely horrendous.

Movement speed is more than fine in the game, its relatively accurate for a real person moving. Soldiers arent athletes, they're not wearing sneakers, and they're carrying weapons, guns, and other shenanigans.
The big problem I have is still, after quite some time, the view point of the player is slightly lower than their eyes are, so your head is futher out of cover than you think it is. Its like your viewpoint is at the nose or so rather than eyes. Its really frustrating they havent fixed that.

They're still making great progress on getting the game out, and each update brings better feel to the game. Unfortunately, the player base has been slipping more toward casual, low quality players, and matches are suffering. It generally takes having to find well-managed servers that have regulars who will talk and communicate, and more than anything, LISTEN to those in command above them. I cant count how many times Ive squad led or been in a squad where half the squad just fucks right off and does their own thing. Having a squad move together, properly use their roles, under a smart officer, is STUPIDLY powerful in the game. But so many people play like they're Rambo, and its getting very, very old. And those people then whine that they're losing, or cant do x, that officers suck, etc etc.

This. Is. A. Team. Game. Dont play it like you're a lone wolf, follow squad leads, squad lead follow commander, and when it all comes together, its a beautiful match. Ive had more than a small number of downright intense defensive fights (I prefer to hold points over assaulting). Its AWESOME to get into a point thats got some dedicated engineers and supply men and supply trucks coming in, you can create a little fortress and its a great ball to defend those.

Game is now in release mode.

Any one still playing this?

New maps, weapons, modes, UI, all since I've played earlier this year.

Theres a large community and it grows daily - never a time when you dont have options for multiple full matches. They also released this on Xbox and PS, albeit an older version thats not as updated.

WetDogBreath on Steam. Play every day.
Been looking for someone to partner up with. Do you still play? Can't find that username on Steam to add you.

Great game, but be warned takes 6-12 hours of gameplay before you learn the how the game flows and some of the classes and other basics, and how to die a bit less (although you'll die all the time still). It's the farthest FPS from run and gun like Battlefield or CSGO ate

I just started playing this a couple weeks ago or so; I love it! If you're into historical WWII stuff there is a lot to like. There's so much attention to detail -- the terrain and map layouts are all very realistic, guns appear to behave pretty realistically as well. It's hugely beneficial to be as cooperative as possible. You will have to be patient often, whether you are advancing, or holding a point anticipating an attack, or having to run far to a point because all of your garrisons/outposts got wrecked. I can see how some might not like it, but for me it strikes a nice balance of realism and detail while still retaining fun "game-y" elements so that it is not dry. Some aspects of it feel like they were borrowed/tweaked from a Battlefield game, but in a good way.

Just got back into this game heavily in the past month. Probably the fourth time I've picked it back up, and it just gets better each time.

DrGuru on steam if anyone wants to jam.

Expected DLC drop within the next month or so - new maps, weapons, vehicles and adding the mortar too! Andddd British troops, It's going to be dope.

I got the pleasure of an amazing defense at and then counter-attack over the bridge on Remagen, Easily one of the best matches in any game in my whole life. That bridge, the arty and tank guns roaring in concert, MGs peppering the entire area from the bridge towers, the mountain behind alight with the sparkle of muzzle flashes firing down at you, the desperate dash from box to crate to freshly destroyed Panzer, gaining inches at a time, crawling over the rubble and dead across the bridge with smoke rounds popping constantly all around, praying to get into the blockhouse on the end and maybe, just maybe, get two seconds to breathe and see again, find another brother in arms who has made it so you wont die alone across the bridge from the rest of your men.

This game just does it right when the community works into it and doesnt cheese mechanics.

I haven't played much the last few months. However HLL is probably my #1 favorite FPS released in the last decade. Cant wait for the British troops. Bren gun ftw!

I'm Super_Sicario on Steam. I'll add you Eshelmen.

Anyone have it on sale ATM?

I know it's been on sale a few times over the past few months but I never snagged it.

None that I am aware of right now, but it likely will be during the steam winter sale.

Not seeing it,Lloyd.
Just add me from here - got a great and very skilled group of guys that squad up very well through discord.

Anyone else want to join in - come on through.

I'm digging the game. However, I can tell within 30 seconds whether we have a chance or not. If I join a side and there 3 or fewer garrisons up, we're gonna lose. It shocks me that people will run into the point, get into a firefight, die, and do it again. Over and over. But they refuse to go look for enemy garrisons. Clearly, garrisons are the key to winning this game, but apparently, nobody either knows that or cares. It can be frustrating.

Yeah. Any competent commander(sometimes uncommon to have) will immediately assign squads to have these up às soon as the match starts. Supply truck drops, air drops, and a support class spree and the teams got a STRONG start. The rest can push, cap, build defenses, ping enemies, and move forward at different angles.

As for enemy garries. Recons should be the ones prioritizing these(along with shutting down enemy arty). Adding a solid assault infantry squad with some satchels will work too.

If you're looking for a solid every day group to play with - hit me up - we're all 180+ level, and tear shit up.

Quickest uninstall I have ever had. I figured I would give this a shot since it is on gamepass and I can finally play some games. Can't do anything since all the squads are locked so only option is to create my own at which point a bunch of people flood the squad and start cursing me out. I didn't even get a chance to try the game, but community spoke volumes.
