[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

Like double the price of what I would want to pay for those lol. I hate this year...

I think everyone is still comparing prices to pre-tariff MSRPs. Add 25-30% to MSRPs from last year and those don't look like such bad prices.

Out of stock within about 2s
Yup, I don't think I'm going to even bother. It literally never showed up in stock for me until 2 minutes after everyone was bragging about what they got, and when I did try to add to cart, I get the "Fuck you flesh bag plebe we're not adding shit to your cart!!!" response.

Asus had an RTX 3080 in stock for about a second. It's the only drop so far that I saw any availability. I clicked the link immediately upon notification, clicked "Add to Cart" but watched it change to Out of Stock just as I clicked. Really frustrating experience.

AMD still has a problem with bot protection (Edit: apparently they use Digital River), as evident in this screenshot from someone bragging in a Discord moments ago. Their endpoint (API) is completely exposed and that's what's being exploited.

Damn, I had a 6800xt in cart within the first few seconds, got as far as the "review" page and then just kept dumping me back out to the products page with an error, sooo close that time.

AMD still doesn't care about bot protection, as can be seen in this screenshot from someone bragging in a Discord moments ago. With the good-guy, friend-to-the-enthusiast schtick AMD's corporate messaging continually tries to convey, why not make the smallest investment into beefing up anti-bot security and hire out if it's over the heads of their internal webdev team.

Whoever that scalper is - they deserve terrible, horrible, unspeakable things.

Not a fan of the botting and scalping at all. AMD shouldn't look at that as X number of sales but X number potential lost customers. However, as this drags on and as more people buy in the gray market --it won't make any difference. I have taken all my spare cash for PC upgrades and invested it. It will actually pay ME at some point. I'm just not wallet voting for this shit.. ever. SO if it means another year or more on my existing gear ? IDGAF

For what its worth both AMD's and Nvidia's back-end retail selling to end-point customer is through Digital River.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_River

And Yes, AMD seems to not care about negative image and PR at all. And I imagine their web team is probably only involved with it as much as "Is the API & integration working? Then OK lets go do something else.".

My own purchase which indicates Digital River, and that address is Digital River too:

Clearly Nvidia gave up on Digital River to enable bot scalping protection and moved all RTX FE to Best Buy which seemed better than leaving it with DR.

Yeah the chat I was in there was one guy happy/bragging that his bot nabbed 5 of them. And people were congratulating him on it. I just don't want any fucking part of this scene. Only thing I could have gotten at that AMD drop was a 3950x, 5800x (lol NOPE!), and a 5600x which I actually did add to my cart just to see if their shit was broken. But WTF do I care about a CPU now, GPU comes first the CPU is easy by comparison because I don't have to be too picky, hell I could go for the 3600x if I wanted.

Alas, the GPU really is the new CPU, isn't it.
Well like I said the CPU I have choices, if I'm not too picky. I mean I don't need (nor want) a 5950x. And with Ryzen I could get an older one and just upgrade later if I feel there's much of a bottleneck.

EVGA notification queue people:

If EVGA sent you a notification buy-link but you missed it (or ignored it), and you email them and tell them you missed it and ask for a new link, they may re-issue one within 12-24hrs. An acquaintance ignored his 3090 buy link back in Nov, and today requested a new buy link and got one.

They will check your account to see if you were notified for the product in question. Time is of the essence since they may change policy if they get flooded with requests.

Move quick on this, boys: if EVGA sent you a notification buy-link but you missed it (or ignored it), and you email them and tell them you missed it and ask for a new link, apparently they may re-issue one within 12-24hrs. No, not just anyone can email them and ask for a link. They will check your account to see if you were notified for the product in question.
I had passed on a 3090 Hybrid, might email them and see what happens. so email [email protected]?

Edit: email sent. fingers crossed. Will update with their response.

I got lucky and was allowed to buy the card.

thanks for the tip!

I would be interested here to know if he gets all these cards he purchased. I know for a fact that Digital River is SUPPOSED to be validating and comparing addresses before shipping. I did pass this along to some folks that I still know over there.

This is definitely worth trying, YMMV depending on who you get.
I tried this recently with one of my older notifications that I "missed" and was rejected but it seems to work for some, so it doesn't hurt to try.

Mine was in december so I doubt they will allow me to buy the card. Oh well, worth a try.

On one hand I want to say "fuck those guys who missed/skipped it I'm still waiting!" but the reality is the rate at which the queue is not moving, I don't have any hope of getting one because apparently all the cards I wanted for are shipped to retail locations or system builders.

My acquaintance got the following today from a notification missed on Nov. 20, so maybe try again, or call them up (I'm sure they hate that, but we're talking about a GPU - life and death)

Good idea about the phone call. Will try that and report back.

Unrealistic to expect your position in queue is kept months after you got a notification. Frankly it's unfair to those who are still waiting just to be bypassed by someone who missed their notification and want it resent weeks/months after.

Things happen. It is what it is. I'm fairly confident it will lead to another rejection in the end.
I've personally helped others in the community get cards and even purchased cards to send to people at face value, just to help out so I don't feel bad about it at all.

I got the same reply and was allowed to place my order for the 3090 FTW3 hybrid.

After 30 newegg rejections, this sure brightens up my day/week/month/year.

Got the asus today and boy I am disappointed. The GPU got the space invaders like Turing. Tried to test it and bamn space invaders crashes and reshoots. The GPU fans spin up and reboots.

They don’t have it anymore and it’s going right back tomorrow. I am ordering something else off Newegg tonight looks like they have a few models in stock. It’s for replacement only but since the don’t have it in stock Newegg policy is to refund if the item is not in stock.

So stupid.

You guys are welcome to give Tech Drops Discord a go. Bassman scored a PS5 through there. Make sure you hit the Role channel and react to which ever it is your looking for so you get alerts when items are picked up.

It's 2 days old so still having features tweaked and such but it was created because of salty mods on a Xbox stock discussion discord that wanted to blend the stock channel into gen pop chatter. So most that help in the channel are pretty seasoned in how this stuff works.

I just landed another win for my kids from this discord. They're notifying about drops that other huge discords are missing.

What is the secret with BB drops other than using a bot?
Open 10 tabs on 10 devices lol.
Save a few specific card I think they might drop to favorites and keep refreshing that page?
Or something better?
