Was looking for a cooler for the 9900k. Saw this deal for the Corsair A500. 49$ base price, 29$ after rebate (receive "prepaid card". Not sure exactly what this is). Note: Only 1 rebate per household.

Product: CORSAIR A500 High Performance Dual Fan CPU Cooler - Newegg.com

Rebate Form site: https://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/Corsair35-181-193Dec21Jan0321jd56.pdf

Disclaimer: I heard this is loud as well as covers the RAM slots.

Take care and Merry Christmas.

Been considering this for my 5600x because I just want better than stock. As I won't be overclocking, this should allow some pbo & such for occasional single core boosts.

The clearance issue is only with certain boards and orientations. These fans can be lifted up, they are on a sliding system so that is actually pretty nice.

Prepaid card means they send you a gift card with the rebate on it.

Apparently, this deal is still going or back on - expiring 3/31/2021.

I received my rebate card today and thought I'd comment. Took about 8 weeks to get the rebate. Loaded it onto the Big SA River gift balance right after activating it.

Still waiting on my rebate when I picked mine up in January, but it performs well for me. The flatness issues from early reviews seems resolved, mine was perfect when tested with a razor blade. Keeps my 5600x under 55c when stressing with cinebench r23, boosting to 4.65ghz all cores sustained after just enabling pbo.

Purchased mine in January, too.

I haven't opened mine, but, if they come with 2 Corsair ML 120 fans then it's not a bad deal once the rebate arrives.

The fans retail for $15-20 a piece. I've seen dual packs retail for $30-$35. They may be moving these units at close to cost. But, they aren't losing money.

Given the insane price fluctuations on parts I figured it's worth it to have it in the parts closet.

That is an OLD review from when it was first released, check the date. As I mentioned above the flatness issues look to have been resolved. No longer a valid review for the current product.

Good to know, any updated reviews you can link us to?

Nope. As is tradition, very few products are re-visited unless the original result was catastrophic. All I can do is say I had read some anecdotes of people saying it had gotten better and rolled the dice, and mine too turned out to be mirror flat. Corsair dropped the ball by not reaching out for a re-review, but it's a 1.5 year old product now. You can take the risk like I did based on word of mouth, for the money it's a very good value. This is different from the typical post review product, where it gets worse after the fact when they switch to inferior internals etc.

wow, that's a lot of cooler for the price. @arnmetis After watching the video, how was the flushness of the pipes/ mounting face? I know you said they fixed it. Can you run a fingernail over it? Does it look like it's lapped flat? Another issue I have with heat pipes is the actual solder points where they solder the pipes into the flat plate... lots of makers leave airgaps which is bad. I may need to grab one of these just to keep in the tool box for an undetermined future build.

thanks dude.

Sorry but I'm not going to disassemble my server now to do another analysis, but it looked like a nearly continuous surface with no gaps where the pipes met the base plate. It was simply a line, not a valley. It did look like it was lapped, not to a mirror finish but it had some reflectivity. At the time it was testing on an open bench so I popped the cooler on and with the results I got, I didn't bother doing any further analysis and put the server back together.

I have this on my 9900K and it seems to work fine for the most part. I am not overclocking or anything.

I will have to say, this thing is huge. Make sure to take measurements. its height went past the side panel of one of my Micro ATX cases as well as one of my full ATX cases. Lol, I bought 3 of these things and only fit the third case. I have 2 sitting new in box

What's a rebate? They are still doing mail and stamps ? Is this 1999?

Lol, they will do what they can to get a sale =).

Still running it on a 9900K. However, it is huge.

What case are you using that fits this thing? I bought 3 and only one case would fit . Whatever you are using, I am going to make a note.

It's an oldie I've had for close to 20 years, the Antec SLK3700AMB - https://www.newegg.com/metallic-bronze-antec-solution-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811129122 As long as the case has a 120mm fan over the io area and it isn't squished right up against the edge, you should be fine. It gets close, though I do have a good 7/16" from the top of the cooler and the edge of the side panel. Though the case has seen some modifications over the years, the side panel hasn't been one of them. Look for a case with similar dimensions to this and you should be safe.

It fits the lian li tu150 just barely, also mine was severely uneven and needed lapping to make flat. Otherwise keeps a 9700 non k super chilly even at sustained load and quiet. I really dig the ml fans and worth the cost for those inmho.

Deal's still or back on, as it shows a rebate needing to be bought by 5/4/2021 now.

looks like a decent cheap cooler. My old platform died so I had to assemble a quick build less than a day LMFAO
