Well I use to use Mint, but moved to Solus because it is rolling. I want something easy to use & just wonder if Manjaro is better then Solus? I do like how Solus does screenshots where you can cut out a spot in the screen. Anyway, it isn't easy to break is it?

Manjaro is Arch Linux based and has a curated (more testing than Arch itself) rolling release schedule. So in essence it's very much like Solus which is also a curated rolling release distro. The big difference is Manjaro has access to the AUR.

Why are you looking to leave Solus?

Bigger community, more software. Really I am ok here just wondering if Manjaro has any pros over Solus? Well besides those 2 things.

The AUR is a big pro for Arch or any Arch based distro like Manjaro. The wealth of software there is amazing. Arch repos are generally far better than Solus as well. I used to use Solus and it was my daily driver for a long time a few years back before Ikey left. Really liked it. However, there were things lacking in their repos compared to Arch and it's derivatives.

In terms of community the Arch forums can be a cesspool of elitist pricks but yet the Arch Wiki is the gold standard for Linux help. I would imagine the Manjaro forums are pretty friendly since they're not using pure Arch. The Solus community on the other hand (at least when I was part of it) was very helpful compared to what you would find on the Arch forums. The Arch Linux group on Matrix I find to be quite pleasant.

I don't think you'd be disappointed if you moved to Manjaro. It's a wonder distro. I did dabble with it a bit a while back but I just simply prefer pure Arch. The Manjaro team does a lot of good work and if I knew somebody who was tired of the Ubuntu/Mint/Debian style distro I'd probably point them to Manjaro to get them used to something like Arch.

I can't tell the pros and cons between the two because I've never used Solus. However, Manjaro is my daily driver and I can't say I have any real complaints. I haven't noticed any broken software or updates which screwed anything up. As previously stated, between the Manjaro repos and the AUR there is a huge amount of software available.

If I had one complaint it would be the exact same complaint I have with any distro that isn't openSUSE: the lack of Yast. I used openSUSE for quite some time and still use it on my server and Yast is so damn useful and handy.

I used SuSE also, yes I loved YaST, 1 great util was the boot config. I loved that you could go in to save grub/lilo anywhere you wanted, back in the floppy days I saved it to disk, incase I had to reinstall Windows, so I could boot to linux & go put it back onto the drive. Now I have Linux on drive 2, so I just boot to it on bootup when I want linux. BTW, I can't singup for the Manjaro forum. The button to register seems to not work for me (I get to the form). I have Firefox 84.0.2.

I can't help with the Manjaro forum as I've never tried to sign up although it could be an issue with the browser or an extension you may have installed. Best thing to do is try a different browser to see if it works.
