Dual display or single LG 48" OLED?

It's come to my attention that both of my displays cost is actually more expensive than a single 48" OLED.

It's primarily a gaming/web browsing PC. It does almost nothing else.

Monitors are the Samsung G7 32" and a LG 34" Ultrawide. Both are rated great for gaming. But I am seeing some pretty ridiculous reviews on using the LG OLED has a PC monitor.

I'd like to hear from some people who have this setup and what they think of it.

What would you think of using a 55" instead of the 48?

They're the same price right now.

Bigger than I would want. The whole craze over the CX is the 48" model, they had a 55" 2019 model that could do everything the CX can but most people considered it too big.

The msrp of the 48" is cheaper but in stores the 55" has always been cheaper than the 48". It will probably continue to be that way until the 2021 models come out. Which is very soon so you may want to wait to see if it drives the cx price down.

I suppose that makes sense. I'd only be 3-3 1/2' feet away while using my PC. 5-6 feet while gaming. 48" does seem to make for a better fit.

Just seems silly to buy smaller for no reason!

I run 55" C9 OLED and 55" Alienware OLED and I think it's great but it's personal preference.

This is entirely personal preference. It's one of those things where it doesn't really matter what the polls think, 99% of people could "prefer" one way but if you hate it, it doesn't really matter.

To answer your question, I personally prefer multiple "smaller" monitors. The dream would be 3x 32" 6-8k OLED 12-bit monitors capable of 2000 nits, HDR 10, complete Rec 2020 and DCI-P3. Should only cost me around $120k in about 5-10 years when they actually exist.
For me computers are more about productivity and media consumption is a side benefit. If I'm watching a movie or whatever then yeah sure, as big and nice a display as I can afford is great.
IIRC Kyle prefers the single larger monitor if that means anything to you.

Is there many game or browsing experience that gain from multi monitor (specially from ultrawide) ?

For work like coding multi monitor instead of one giant outside the potential for more pixel make it a bit easier to manage has well (application in full screen on one of the monitor for example) that simulating it on a single screen.

I agree with the notion that the pool would not be that informative, because it seem related to the usage so much, for example for gaming one big screen so obviously the choice (but maybe some play game with social media type stuff on a second monitor going on)

I don't think one monitor is ever enough, even if it's 48". I'd still need a 2nd or even third at 32".

It would depend on use cases. If you are the type of person who likes to have a lot of things open at the same time or does streaming where you might want to have a game + Discord, OBS etc open then multiple monitors might be a better option. Personally I find this mostly distracting so for me a single CX 48" does the job, even for work where I typically have several windows on screen. I use virtual desktops to switch between things as that works for me well enough.

Nothing prevents you from buying the CX 48" and adding some cheaper smaller display next to it if you can fit it all. For me this does not work because my bigass studio speakers can't fit on my desk if I add anything next to the CX. I do have a 27" 1440p display that is on a side table but it's not even hooked up at the moment because it's not very convenient. Will probably just sell it as it looks rather crap in comparison, being an old 144 Hz 8-bit TN panel.

I also own a Samsung CRG9 and felt it is a great compromise on display space and excellent for desktop use but I don't love it for gaming as much as my CX. My ideal would probably be one of those 40" 5120x2160 with 120+ Hz refresh rate and good HDR + some smaller side monitor to go with it. Maybe in 10 years this is possible. Alternatively a 48-55" 8K would be great.
