A member here was selling some parts and I was interested in the cpu he had listed. I sent him a pm with an offer as to not crowd up the sale thread. I waited something like 15 hours for his reply and he accepted with " Yeah, I can do that". So I waited for him to send me his pp info so I can transfer the payment he agreed upon.

Waited another 12-15 hours and still no sign of him. At this point I figured he must be a busy person and he'll get back to me. I check his sale thread and I see he edited his sale thread and marked "Pending" on the Cpu. I took this as he agreed to the offer I sent and and that we'll be finalizing the transaction.

Well I waited an additional 4 hours and I posted in the public sales thread that I was still awaiting his info to transfer payment which he agreed upon. So he replies back in the sales thread " My apologies it was sold to another member" I'm like...whut?

So I reply back : " Let me get this straight: You have an item for sale, I pm you with an offer which you gladly accepted, but then you sell the item from under me?" That's total bullshit.

Why would he agree to my offer if he had no intentions of selling it to me? I would think if you made a deal with someone, you should honor that deal, period. Unless it's some rare circumstance that something of great importance changed, then that would be understandable. But to just renig a deal without not so much as a fucking warning is just unacceptable and wrong. His response? " Well no monies changed hands" That's his fucking excuse.

I thought a deal is a deal here? What kind of shit is that? Unfucking real.

Bro, it's R E N E G E. The word you're using sounds hilariously off.

Also, there's no reason for you to have reported the seller. He didn't do anything that was against the rules, at least not overtly. If he had been going around posting the offers he was getting in an obvious show of an auction-style sale, then you'd have a leg to stand on, but since you never traded payment info and no money exchanged hands, there's really nothing for you to do. If you really feel like you just can't stand the indignity of having missed out on that sale, set the guy to Ignore and/or pen him in on your DNT list and call it a day.

If a man gives you his word. Thats a done deal where i come from. Its called respect. Pussy move is what its called. Particularly when he doesn't have the common consideration to tell you he changed his mind about it and why.
Regardless of what the rules might state Nebulous has every reason to be pissed.

The long waits between messages should have tipped you off that something wasn't right. There are lots of sellers on here, some are just not good at it, I've just kind of accepted that and just noted to myself not to do business with them again, or ever for that matter. Another reason Heat can be kind of important.

That sucks. I've been on both sides of that issue.

I offered to purchase something from a member here, they accepted. I sent PayPal pretty much immediately. The next day I received a refund with basically no explanation. Total dick move. I guess I was happy I wasn't scammed, and moved on.

I was also selling an item. A member messaged me and we agreed on a deal. I sent them my PayPal address, and then suddenly, they ghosted. In the meantime, another member wanted to purchase. I thought, ok, it's not sold. So I sent my PayPal address and was paid immediately. Of course, 2 days later I received PayPal payment from the first member. I immediately refunded them and contacted them to explain the situation. Then moved on.

Neither situation was particularly fun to be in, but it worked out in the end. Be happy that it ended before a transaction took place.

As someone with 900+ deals under his belt, I wont automatically say this is a dick move by the seller.

I have had a ton of times where I waited for payment, and never got paid, and lost other buyers. This happened so often that i had to sometimes put in my post first person to send payment gets it.
This usually happens not only where you make a lower then priced offer as the OP appears to have done, but when the listed price is so good that multiple people want it.

I have had people post first in my thread "DIBS" and then back out more then once. Thats bullshit......its like they are trying to lock up the sale while they think about or try and get the cash.
F**K that. Money talks, bullshit walks.

As to this actual issue that Nebulous had, I will say that it is bullshit that the seller replied with "Yeah, I can do that" but did not add his payment info.......that is either a stupid/forgetful oversite, or some preplanned bullshit while he is negotiating with someone else.

I, like most people, dont live on the FSFT forum, but there is really no reason to have to wait hours to get paid, or wait hours for someone to send you their payment info.
I am more understanding overnight when I know people are sleeping, or if someone's tells me before had that payment will be delayed as they only use paypal from their own secure PC at home, etc...

I dont do the refund shit if I get a better offer once I am paid, as to me the deal is done when payment is sent. I only did that like a time I broke a phone while going to pack it, and I sent the buyer pics and a options to still buy it cheaper. I like to ship as fast as possible after payment, just like any good merchant should.

One thing I see here is your comment of "I took this to mean" which is you making an assumption. I don't consider a deal done until I send or get $ in my hands. Call it what you want but this stuff happens all the time. People change their minds, get better offers, whatever.

This guy gets it. ^

I agree. I have probably half as many trades, but I can attest to everything here.

I don't consider a deal done until the money hits my account. I've told people, "I'll do that." And then I don't hear back from them for a few days. In the meantime I sell the item and then they aren't happy...well, you should have paid me then. Usually, I follow up with others expressing interest letting them know that the item has been sold. I've never purposely said, "I'll do that," and then not provided payment info. I usually remind the potential buyer that it's not considered sold until I receive a payment.

I think I've been lowballed on almost everything I've put for sale. Usually, I tell people that I'll wait and see for a day or two if someone buys at full asking price then I'll let them know. I've also said that "I'll do that" to a lowball, have not been paid promptly, and then sold at asking price and then tell the potential buyer that I'm sorry, but the item was sold.

I've also paid for items and then been refunded when the seller gets a better deal from someone else. It didn't make me very happy because I thought I was getting a good deal, but it is what it is. I wasn't out any money, but I think that's more of a dick move than what the OP is describing. I've had people offer me extra for something after I sold it, and I tell them that it's sold. Payment received means that the buyer fulfilled their side of the bargain.

Generally, if you treat people in FS/FT the way you'd want to be treated, you'll have a good experience.

Welp, it just ticked me off is all. If the seller was waiting on a better deal, he should not have accepted my offer, or just either counter-offer or just straight up denied the offer. Instead he plays this stupid fucking game.

I guess I should just take this as a warning in disguise. If the deal did go through and I had an issue with the chip, he might have weaseled his ass out of it and I would be stuck with no warranty and no way to RMA.

I did find it odd that he wasn't online on a regular basis and his Avatar didn't have the green light indicating he's active. Instead he's in invisible mode.

I went ahead and purchased a brand new chip from the egg, fuck it. I paid a few dollars more, but at least I get peace of mind with it.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

If you paid via paypal (g&s) he wouldn't really be able to weasel out, you could make a claim there.

Well sucks to be someone like me I guess. I work in a job where I have no outside comms for 9 hours a day. I post in the evening, check in the morning maybe if I have time, then again in the evening after dealing with kids, dinner, etc. Those PMs don't go anywhere... If you're in that much of a hurry sounds like you're better off shopping retail.

Exactly. This is the kind of person that goes on my DNT list, unless they explain it in a way that makes things better.

Which is why good traders like you know to communicate that in the beginning of the deal.

Main thing is, communication is key.

Its fishy that the guy stated he would take the deal, but in the same response did not include the payment info....just sayin.

Reading your reply in his thread and then this nonsense is far worse than anything the seller did.

P.S. Renege.
EXACTLY. This isn’t Facebook.
Sure it was a dick move but his right to do. OP you weren’t entitled to anything. He was a seller with obvious bad communication. But you didn’t exchange money and the sale was his choice. No need to go all aggro and make a thread about it.

That would have been my first clue.

I have excellent feedback and have been trading here for many years. Communication is absolutely key. And I ALWAYS send my payment info once a deal has been reached. And I’ve never had a single issue.

Until money changes hands, nothing is written in stone, and it is still in the negotiation phase.

Agreeing, and then backing out without letting you know was a bit...distasteful, but it is his right. I've sent my Paypal info out to countless people without ever hearing from them again, or receiving payment. As a seller, if I give an affirmative to an offer, the deal is done and no further offers will be entertained*.

*Obscene amounts of money notwithstanding. If some insane rich guy offers me a literal million bucks for what I was going to sell you for $300, you should cheer alongside me!
