5600x + 2x 290X MSI Lightnings.

To be water cooled and overclocked. Main use 1080p gaming rig + music and video hobby production... built with my 10 year old son. His first gaming rig he helped design and build. He named it WATT. I like the name.

Yeah those cards will likely need some water cooling that close to each other. Looks great.

PSU is Seasonic Platinum 860W.

The case can accommodate 2 power supplies.

I may have to add another power supply dedicated for one of the MSI 290x Lightning. I have a lower rated SS660W Platinum available.

I've seen some cable adapters available to run more than 2 power supplies. I've never done this.

I want both PSU to switch on from single power button on case to mother board.

Any experience with two or more of these type of Seasonic PSUs used like this is appreciated?.?.? 🤔

You might want more than just the 860 for sure. Those 290s eat close to 300 watts each on their own. I have had success undervolting 290s a bit though.

I can't believe i found an unused new Seasonic Platinum 1200XP in a box forgotten about.... 😁

I must of bought it about 6 years ago.... 😁

My son and I are so happy right now. I spent most of the day cleaning my garage looking for missing pci express power cables for the SS Platinum 860 and then found the 1200XP in box of mixed items.... WOW! 😁

Just make sure the pci cables are compatible! Some manufacturers pin out different back to the psu for whatever genius reason Im too dumb to understand

The SS 1200XP was one PCI express cable short for the 6 pin connector on one of the MSI 290x lightnings. I ended up using a PCI express 6 pin connector from the Seasonic XP660. I don't see why Seasonic would risk destroying customers video cards by mixing these particular PCI-E cables for the sake of protecting their power supply designs.

We are stuck in booting up into BIOS. Can't get video out from HDMI out of motherboard to an older BenQ display. Going to try a Digital Port cable tomorrow.

While I agree, but the truth is they do change their pinouts from time to time. Corsair is up to 4 different types depending on the model. Seasonic actually has 2.

But from the looks of it, the two PSUs you have use the same plugs: Source

Clean looking build, great father son project and hopefully you can get it to boot.

why are you pluggin into the mobo and not the primary gpu? the 5600x does not have an igpu, so the mobo connections will never work.

🤔😁👍

THANK YOU!

That makes perfect sense.

Asus customer support asked me to send it in to trouble shoot.

Asus customer support had me pull video cards first.

I now have a nice DP cable.
