NVIDIA is now resupplying 4-year old GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Pascal GPUs to AIBs

Wasn't there a big overstock of these last mining Pump and dump? Where the aibs forced nvidia to buy them back?

Really, at this point, one would be better off going to Ebay for a used older-gen GPU instead of paying $200+ for a "new" card with a 4-year-old chip. A GTX 670 or 680 would be roughly the same performance and half the price; a 970 or 980 would be about the same price but quite a bit faster. I guess if one is set on buying new a 1050Ti is better than nothing but GP107 in 2021, really?

It is also for those consumers:

I would be curious how much of those 2060/1050ti/1660 cards the last 12 months went to the Dell/Hp of the world, would not surprised if it is a giant majority, I am not sure they have in mind the client that can go on ebay buy an old card.

And on ebay right now, 4gig GTX 680:

Seem to be sold at very high price (even 2GB ones).

The only think I can

Old, of course, means really old. If we consider Turing old, this is what you find on eBay:

And eBay has the balls to call that a "great price"...

I've got a GTX 570 and a GTX 670 (with 680 PCB) sitting in a closet if anyone wants to buy! :ROFLMAO:

Hell, got some HD 5770's too!

I noticed a ton of MSI 1050 Ti's at MicroCenter the other day when I was in buying a 980 Pro 500GB...crazy...guess this is why.

at this rate.. we'll see RX 570's and RX 580's resurfacing!
I've seen those around. I've kind of been watching vid card stock at Newegg, Best Buy and Microcenter lately. IIRC Best Buy had some in the last few days. I've mostly been looking at RX 5000 and GTX 1600 series cards, but RX 570s and 580s have been popping up in stock and not just from "marketplace" vendors. Just in case you're wondering, cards in the GTX 1660 series seem to be the most commonly available 'reasonably serviceable" ones that don't sell out instantly, though I've seen RX 5000 series too. Despite NV allegedly resupplying 2060 chips I haven't see one of those in months except from price-gougers and scalpers. Maybe they're all going to OEMs.

New batches of older midrange and low end models makes sense to me if they're sold out too. They use older processes so they won't compete for the TSMC 7nm and Samsung 8nm capacity the new stuff is using. I feel like a good part of this is about supplying OEMs though. Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. Used cards aren't an option for them and they have the clout to get NV to do it.

How did that get worst for nVidia?
Seriously if anything this is good for Nvidia. Making use of old nods that not overwhelmed with demand. Nvidia is in better shape with supply then AMD is. There virtually no 6xxx cards out there for sell and 5xxx CPUs still haven't caught up either.

Yeah Nvidia are not competing for 7nm fab capacity which is helping a lot. Its sounds like their big supply issue at the moment is GDDR6X chips.

AMD's big problem is that literally almost all of their allocation of 7nm is going to consoles.

for sale not for sell

I'm not a big gamer (not much since my teenage years anyway) I don't mind consoles but I do mind the constant updates that punish the casual once in a while gamer like me I turned it on yesterday (for the first time since December of 2020) and I had to download close to 60GB in updates those were mostly game updates with one system update less then 1GB

Also what does AIB mean?

and there are others using the TSMC 7NM cycle too. That's an extremely popular node.

Imagine that! Not a single comma in that sentence. What is worse?
Some adults are "big" gamers? And aren't updates part of owning a console then? Even cars need an oil change every XXXX miles. Maintenance is a part of everything.

AIB is an acronym for Add In Board as used within the video card industry.

Maybe AMD will go back to GloFlo for some Vega's, 12nm+ upgrade, wait -> HBM is still expensive :(. Another version of Polaris?

Wow! is that telling everyone Nvidia is having problems getting enough chips, large and small from Samsung or what?

Last I heard 8nm Samsung chip supply was fine (of course demand far outstripping it though). The issue now is GDDR6X supply. So the few 3080's are drying up and 3090's you see since miners don't want them for their prices. I've seen plenty of 3070's. RDNA2 has been pretty scarce since launch though.

The rumor I read was that RDNA2 production is getting low single digit % of allocation for AMD's TSMC 7nm wafers. Which makes sense, given Zen 3's popularity plus the console production.

Yep. The consoles chips are getting most of it by a lot. Something in the realm of 80% if I recall.

And yet consoles are being sold at MSRP, but GPUs are not. I... Just want to scream. Even if it's into the void.

I wish the damn soulless scalpers bought them up!

I saw one on market place $1500 or make offer
OK my offer what you actually paid for it
Idiot scalper: Lol try getting one for MSRP!
ME: Yes because of people like you!
Idiot scalper: I did nothing wrong
me: look at your other items then you have many PS5 digital/Disc Xbox Series S/X for way more then the price you paid!
Idiot scalper: F**K OFF you ugly asshole!
Me: sure thing cutie!

Guess it makes sense. Still better than an APU and there was never a GTX 2030 or GTX 3030 card. My LP 1050ti still works well for older games at 1080p and the nvenc is a great match with AMD CPUs.
