Worried I might be reaching the limit on Steam maybe refunded about 30 games in the past 4 years. Refunded one game on Blizzard COD Cold War Never refunded a game on Epic just yet.I mean it's digital so no harm is done except I get to try out the game before getting skunked with it. Saved a few hundred dollars.

I've refunded 2 games in my entire lifetime. I own more than 2,000 games.

A few. Based on my Steam history:

-Boneworks VR - seemed cool, made me extremely nauseous compared to any other VR game. May revisit down the line on a steep discount.
-Zero Caliber VR - again, seemed cool, literally could not get it to work with the Index controllers, couldn't even get past the intro. Devs said they were "working on it" but no ETA on a resolution.
-Space Hulk: Deathwing - Game just sucked, wanted to like it but it was bad.
-Everspace - Just didn't like it, unfortunately.

One. I'd have refunded more if I could.
The one game was South Park the stick of truth.

None on Steam that I can remember. I've done a couple on PSN though. I don't buy games without at least watching a few reviews on them to ensure I'll like them unless they're on sale stupid cheap and I don't care if they're that bad at that point to get back the $5 or so I spent on it (probably at least half my Steam library too).

The only game in over a decade I got a refund for. Batman: Arkham Knight for PC. That was a horrific port. Will never again pre-order games after that one.

Same here, I haven't personally had any of my Steam games refunded since I either get them for cheap or research them pretty hard beforehand. Nice to know that the option is there, though, especially if I ever get into VR and run into issues with hardware compatibility or whatever.

2, Age of empires 2 remasterd, game was broken, had short pauses every couple seconds, lot's of complaints to be found on the internet and no sign of an incoming patch, and Doom Eternal, bought the deluxe edition, played for and hour or 2 and decided the game was pretty bad for a doom game so refunded it, did buy the standard edition later at 50% off.

I never refund games. I generally know what I am going into when purchasing a game. Granted when I was a teenager I use go to EB/gamestop and brought ps1/2 games and returned them the next day for a full refund after burning myself a copy. I also did it with SNES games. I had one of those UFO units that copied the game to floppies. I had more games they I knew what too do with once I found places to get them online. My parents house got broken into and they stole all my binders full of copies ps1/ps2 game tho 😥.

i think i have refund one game and it was Player Unknown Battlegrounds.

although back in the day...I used to return lots of games....after copying the CD.

Back in the 8 and 16-bit days I'd return games to my local EB here and there. There were some straight-up garbage games on the shelves in those days and my store would take returns within 2 days. Mike Ditka Football for the Genesis was a particularly memorable example.

Lately I've only done it a few times via Steam. I did it with one of the Epic Mickey games that was ported to PC, but hard-locked at 30fps. Ditto with the janky Devil May Cry Collection that looked like hot buttered trash running on a PS1 emulator. I think there might be one more instance, but I've done it less than 5 times.

I refunded Crysis Remastered, that's it so far. I bought it to try out Ray Tracing but it ran like ass on even a 3080. Refunded it and got Control instead.

I asked for Soulcalibur but my mom bought me Soul Fighter and I asked her to take it back. I've never refunded a game though.

Pre ordered Cyperpunk2077 from Amazon. Wish I can get a refund. I've put in 40 hours and about 75% complete on the main story line but have not touch it since. I've got no motivation or will to play this game anymore. The bugs and glitches were a blessing for CDPR cause it covers up the core of the game. It's just so boring with the brain dead AI and lifeless city.

Only a handful of games, 4 or 5.

I'm getting better at trying a game right when I buy it and returning if it doesn't click quickly (Monster Hunter: World and Dragon's Dogma both come to mind). I've been playing video games for decades and I can more or less tell if a game will click for me, be just OK, or I won't like it within an hour or two. There was, of course, no refund option for a long time on Steam which means I'm stuck with some sale clunkers that were "maybe I'll enjoy this" buys.

I usually refund 4-6 per year. I'll usually check out games on let's play and the buy them, if they don't click in an hour I refund them.

ive tried to refund 1 game, nfs: heat and they told me to go pound sand...
now i have two ubi games that wont run and theyll prob say the same. going back to try before i buy...

none...I usually do my research before buying a game and know the types of games I like...if I have any concerns I'll just wait for reviews and/or patches...for games I'm on the fence about I'll usually wait for a sale or play it on Game Pass PC so that way I won't lose much if I don't like it

Same.

I’ve refunded exactly two. And I bought one again, when the problems were corrected. That’s it. I have 400+ in Steam, so that’s pretty good I think. I generally know what I’m getting into though.

Just one. Lego Indiana Jones part 2. Got it on steam and it would crash no matter what I did.

Couldn't have been that bad if you played it for 40 hours.

Less than 5. I think I've only done it twice. One time because of a price cut that happened with Dungeon Seige, and the second was Cyberpunk 2077.

At this point, I don't actually ever have to buy another game. I have more than enough to play before my death.

You're forgetting that you need to have your Steam account digitally buried with you for the afterlife! :p What the hell are you going to play AFTER your death?!?!? I know the Egyptians buried 5.25" floppy disk games and 4K cartridges in their canopic jars for this very purpose.

Can't refund games if you never buy them.

So many games are free to play now. Then there are all the free games I get on EGS, and all the games that are just straight up free to begin with. I only end up buying a couple games a year.
I'm also mostly a competitive multiplayer gamer, so I end up just playing one game all the time too.

It's pretty cool that they give the option to refund games for people that use that though. I guess it's one of the benefits of games going pure digital always online. They would never trust you to buy a game, take it home (and potentially play through the entire game) then take it back to the store the next day.

A handful. It's never because I don't like the game, only if it's got consolitis or they cap the framerate/refresh rate.

I'm even partially ok with consolitis. I mean, I GREATLY prefer a proper PC game, or even proper PC port, so don't get me wrong, but I think some games are worth playing as long as they weren't ROYALLY consolized to the point where they have the wrong labels for things, etc. I'm pretty forgiving, but I definitely prefer real PC games, and pay full price for them when they're done properly. Unless it was pretty broken because of being a bad port, I probably wouldn't refund.

I've never really been completely burned by a game so badly that there was no recovering from it. Even some of the earliest games (either pre-internet or because the company didn't have a BBS) where I had to wait for a patched disk (which was rare) things were usually taken care of in the end, so I wouldn't have brought the game back.

I do remember bringing one game back to a brick and mortar shop in the early 90s, but I can't remember what it was for the life of me. Whatever it was, was bad enough for me to make my parents drive me 40 minutes to the shop to take back though. :D I wish I could remember what it was.

Usually I don't get refunds on FPS games (I can do the research on game-play videos) the one exception is Doom Eternal - that stupid Gymnastic bar long jump convinced me that everyone complaining was right, and they went fucking overboard on thee added platforming.

I get refunds on side-scrollers more often because the mechanics/difficult-curve for each one are hard to determine until you actually play it. I don't want to be stuck with another hundred games in my Steam library I will never play again, and the refund means I can justify buying the next one on my list. :D

One recent refunded game was Bloostained (weapons felt hollow and unbalanced, for a Symphony of the Night clone, and I didn'tr enjoy ther firstt boss battle using them).

I wasn't big into the acrobatics in Doom Eternal. They felt a bit tacked-on to the game. It felt out of place. Some of the ones that were down in actual combat areas were pretty cool, because you could use them IN combat. The ones just hovering stupidly over lava areas, just felt completely wrong. Not that they were terribly difficult, but just felt stupid. What's next the Doomslayer's floor routine? :p The reason I hate it, is the stupid chainsaw-for-food mechanic. (by food I mean ammo of course) It's just stupid. Ammo drops, while still not the greatest mechanic, make SO MUCH more sense, especially in this type of shooter. IMO anyway. I wish they'd add a classic mode, where there are enough ammo drops to make it playable without relying completely on the chainsaw, but still made it scarce enough to keep the tension up. And no, I don't want to have to use the ammo cheat to do this. That said, the game is top-quality, even if I don't agree with their direction, so I felt I still needed to support them with my money. (despite the bonehead decisions IMO)

Bloodstained is a bit odd for me. I haven't hit my flow with it yet, so I just go back and chip away a bit more here and there. I LOVE the 8-bit spinoffs though. There are better SotN style games out there to enjoy IMO. Still, they're putting in a lot of new modes, they keep polishing it, and I just like all the nice touches they're doing, so hopefully I'll get into the actual game more. If not, I still appreciate that they built it. Hopefully I'll have some time to try again, but now Cyber Shadow is out tomorrow, and that will be taking all my 2D time up. :D
