the longer this goes on the more I'm tempted to go to my local MicroCenter in NYC at like 3:00 AM and camp out for 6-7 hours...
If I was a single guy, and maybe had buddies willing to do that with me... yeah I probably would assuming weather is good, I don't know what the weather is like in NYC this time of year though.

it's Winter and pretty cold...the store is located near the river so it'll be even colder having to wait outside...it's a last resort...

You shouldn't really have too nowadays. Both times I got my 5950x and 3080 I showed up a hour before opening and got them. Then again you are in NY. Might be a lot worse there.

I'd rather play it safe and get there early once rather then have to come back and do this on multiple days

Wow that's the first time I've ever been able to actually add one to my cart and get to check out but I changed my mind as I don't want to pay $650 plus tax and shipping for a freaking 3070 with 8 gigs of vram. I can hold out a few more weeks or a few more months if I have to and only pay 50 bucks more for the founders edition 3080.

Yeah, $150 over MSRP because slightly faster clocks, tariffs, or fuck all who knows is kind of a hard pill to swallow even if it is the norm, I mean especially for another $50 (theoretically) you can get a 3080 FE. One thing that was funny thought

"Limit 5 per customer"
Seriously? Going to let someone buy 5 of these fuckers? Are we starting to see a break in the scalper bots? I mean hell I clicked add to cart too for shits and giggles, almost 20 minutes after the posted link! Only thing I can think of is that they have a horrible internal stock algorithm on the site, and a metric fuck ton of "order cancelled, so sorry" emails will get sent out.

Those days are done if you don't act fast because I suspect Nvidia will soon raise their prices too. The tariff should be raising the price of all options. The only rebuttal would be if Biden stomps out the Tariff and returns it to business as normal. When would that be? Who knows.

This is a great deal and no doubt scalpers will lap it up. For comparison, central computers has the same card for 729 plus tax in bay area. You need to forget original msrps on these cards, they will never exist again.

And it's gone, I tried to checkout but removed due to OOS, this was too good to be true. sfsuphysics sad to say this but you should have grabbed 5 if you could lol...

Well I was going to be stupid and just YOLO it but when I tried to check out it said the item was out of stock now and removed from cart. So I guess that's fine with me as I really need a 3080 anyway not a 3070.

What source did you find that TigerDirect deal from? I don't think that's a site that's typically monitored - which is probably why they lasted in stock for so long. I debated too long myself - when I first clicked the link they were in stock.

None of my numerous discord channels kicked off the alert - so I think you managed to find a site/supply that isn't actively monitored by the bots!!!

I honestly just randomly pulled up the site and saw it in stock. Sad it wasn’t a 3060 ti or base 3070 but hopefully someone that was looking got one

Yeah it is what it is. It may have OOS when I checked out like with Jobert too for all I know. And yeah the price isn't too bad only $20 more than what EVGA was charging for the same card (Central Computers seems to charge $100 more than what the maker charges for cards), but the reality is I'm not going to spend $650 for a video card at all, PERIOD, so the only reason to buy them would be to scalp them or sell them locally at cost, the first I really don't want to do the second I really don't want to.

That said, I'm in at a FE or nothing at all, or hell maybe the 3060 when it comes out, and if that $329 price is marked up 25% "because tariffs" then fuck it I don't get a card and call it a day (which isn't too different to the way things are now)... I do kick myself though for not being patient enough with BB last year when I actually got into their secondary queue for the card, I could have gotten something.

Newegg just dumped a lot of cards but couldn't get anything in my cart.

My EVGA queue number just came up. Ordered a 3070 ULTRA for $666 shipped. Going to be returning my 2070S to Amazon for $640. Not a bad upgrade for $26.

Shopblt earliest eta for the ekwb 3090 is now 3/11/21. Amazon has 5 in stock for 2849 lol.

Isn't this just abusing the return policy? Unless you left it unopened of course. :)

Either that or I've been a chump for years.

Been in the queue for the 3080 xc3 black gaming since 10/7/20, not optimistic. They are probably prioritizing the higher-priced cards.

It seems that way with the 3060 series. I signed up for one of the cheaper models as I know a couple coworkers want one, but that list has barely moved compared to the more expensive ones.

Jesus people still buying up 3090. They had a drop for msi 3090 for $2020 and all sold out at opening.

Who's got the time for that shit? I got things to do. Standing out in the cold isn't one of them.

This is why I dont even bother to load the pages on drops anymore. Im keeping track of availability in general just to see when it calms down again but I am not putting anymore time into getting a card. Either I get lucky or fuck Nvidia. Probably the second ;). I have lots of stuff I can do that doesn't require a $1k+ video card.

Looks like Manli is a Zotac rebrand for Asia...both owned by PC Partner.
So scalpers buying Asian cards, to sell on the US market through NewEgg... it's a global phenomena! :D

Maybe I should get in line now for a 4080.
If there was a line, there wouldn't be a problem. If people could have preordered this prior to release there wouldn't be a problem. People who preorders should get stock before stores get their allotment of cards, because unlike stores the preorders would be paying full price.

But yeah no since getting angry about the way things are if nothing is going to change.

In practice the problem would be exactly the same; see EVGA queues and people complaining about entering the queue in September and still not having a card.

Instead of cards quickly going OOS, the complaints would simply shift to being far back in the line, confusion over place in line, CSR teams getting bombarded all day long with people calling or opening chats to ask "where am I in line" and "how much longer" - this is why most retailers have no interest in a preorder system.

No matter which way you try to slice it, which way you try to reconfigure the chairs in the musical chairs game, the supply of cards would be exactly the same; people complaining no matter because the root issue is demand outstripping supply.

It's actually not that bad. Another member here recommended it - but I have a family and it's a lot tougher for me to get away for multiple hours. So what I did was I started showing up an hour prior to opening. It ends up being about a 90 minute time investment. The 2nd time I went, scored a card (3080 SUPRIM).

If you have a MicroCenter by you (within reasonable driving distance) - you owe it to yourself to at least try a few times. It's not hard to figure out when the best days are (Saturdays seem to be the best for the MN one) and then give it a shot. They limit one high end card per month for those in the line. Once the line has been satisfied, they limit one card per type per month per person. So it's odds in your favor. Plus, it's fun to talk to nerds/geeks in person.

I did a lot of eBay earlier this month and last month, so I started "popping in" at 11AM, Noon, 1PM (whenever I ran to the PO) - could have scored a 6800 XT TUF in those visits. MC is insane.

The other big tip is, of course, Best Buy. Between their anti-bot stuff online and the fact that you must pick it up in store you get a pretty good shot *IF* you get in near when they drop.
