Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti leak reveals another high-end GPU no one can buy

Drama and Grief I have my 3070 EVGA
So over reading comments on Nowinstock.com for two months straight then watching the EVGA que list update. Then going on discord for the everything to be sold out as well.
I would of went with a 3080 but the horror stories on EVGAs site were too much mainly resetting with lower power PSUs.

My next upgrade will be Alder Lake which is a lake in Washington state created by a damn blocking water creating a reservoir Alder lake.

Yup, until online retailers actually try to implement some anti-botting methods, even if it's something as simple as to change the webpage format, button locations, what must be done, when products drop there will be no beating the bots. And being as online retailers only see sales, they're likely not to lift a single finger.
I am sure the bots are using the same APIs and other opened access systems into BB other sites use for tracking prices and items for ad's and such.

Isn't there just 8% of a performance difference between the 3080 and the 3090? If so, there's not much room for an in-between card. It would basically be paying more for some more VRAM.

If the 3080 Ti Costs $1000, then the price difference between it and a 3080 isn't worth an extra 6 GB of VRAM unless you're running 4K and know you definitely need it. And even then, $300 for 6 GB VRAM is whack.
It is an extra 10 GB, the 3080 has 10 GB and the 3080 Ti will be 20 GB.

This is the kind of thing that is really frustrating. If its going to take them until Jan/Feb, then why didn't they plan these from the start and launch them besides (or instead of) elements of the current lineup? It just seems like exploitative garbage that we continually see from Nvidia again and again. Clearly a 3080Ti card with 20GB of RAM and otherwise equivalent to 3090 would sell a fortune priced near $1000-ish. So why not release it at/near the holidays with everything else? I'd rather see them allocate more of their resources to making more of those 3080Ti cards, given that its likely that there are likely a number of hypothetical 3080 and 3090 buyers who would easily prefer a 3080Ti instead. Outside of the most cynical, I can't see any reason this should be preferable.

I'd like any reasonable upgrade to show up, and be actually available.

It has to at least rise above toilet paper availability. Although, the Charmin 3080 TP is pretty amazing. It does help with Cyberpunk 2077, even if not how you'd originally think.

repoman0 I feel for people who got the 3080 and even some who got 3090's for the added vRAM..
Adorable.
@8:13 3080 Ti postponed “indefinitely”.
Looks like everyone feeling "sorry" for us $699 3080 FE owners will have to wait indefinitely to mock our poor life choices.
Heh, I got a 3080 :p will continue to be happy with it even once it’s superseded. If step-up is more than $100 (and it’s released in time) I’d skip and wait for Hopper.
Not that I'll be selling anytime soon, but I could get 100% of my purchase price back indefinitely. Used. Regardless of any TI release. I'm glad the TI will "exist" on paper for prosumers but they're going to be fighting with gamers with serious insecurity problems over VRAM.

botting and scalping can only be combatted by dealing with the idiots who buy from them. Not any other way.

if this insanity keeps up through 2021 and through 2022, I wonder if it could impact game development, where studios decide NOT to go for pushing GPU tech to its limit and don't front load new tech like ray tracing. I mean, why dedicate the dev resources to new features if most consumers can't use them?

Why ? Be cause nVIDIA has a massive RTX install base and one that is growing in leaps and bounds.

where are these leaps and bounds coming from? There aren’t any cards to buy.

did you mean coin miners? I don’t think they care about rtx.

Well, I assume some amount of the cards being scalped are going to gamers. They are selling on ebay, and that is not all miners (though I guess it's hard to say what the percentage is).

I could a shift towards "consoles". While scarce as well, not quite as bad.
I wonder are consoles seeing a big tariff hit/increase because they do have a graphics card in them, and if not. If not I guess laptops won't, and pre-built PCs shouldn't ?

RTX makes those coins look better in real time. And with the tensor cores, they can render them at a lower resolutions and upscale them to high resolutions!

That sounds suspiciously close to gpu accelerated price inflation to me.

I’ll see myself out.
