Lenovo confirms GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, RTX 3050 Ti 6GB, and RTX 3050 4GB

One of the primary markets for lower end cards used to be OEM machines. When they sold those cards by the millions in Dell and HPs for businesses there was plenty of reason to make the card. Most of the OEMs I see now don't have discrete graphics, so the volume they've been selling those cards at has likely tanked over the past few years.

That said just looking at this card you see there is only one GA107 card. They could likely do a cut GA107-200 if they are already making those parts, so it does seem like there is a chance to see an RTX 3040. The thing that I've been saying since this series released is they had to make room for more numbers at the top, so they pushed everything down. The 3060Ti is really a 3070, so that would also lend to them making another card that slots below a xx50 card in this generation.

we effectively did have a 2040 last time around. If they hadn't bifurcated the product line into 20xx and 16xx subfamilies, the 1660 would have been the 2050, and the 1650 the 2040.

Right, and enven with the drop to 75w it should be slightly faster than a 1650 Ti...and you also get nearly RTX 2060 RT performance!

True, but the 50 card has been the top card without needing a power connector for a long time. Seems weird to push that down the stack.

They pushed power consumption up at all points on the stack this generation. IF you look back at prior really hot generations the x50 wasn't a 75W card either. GTX580 was 244W, 550Ti was 116, had to go down to 545 to get a 70W model. Same deal with a 250W GTX 480, 106W GTS 450, and 56W GT 440; or the 204W GTX 285, 130W GTS 250, and 69W GT 240.

As per WCCFTECH's "sources", NVIDIA is rebranding the GeForce RTX 3060 12GB as the GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra.

Not sure if performance of 12 GB 3060 ultra will be better than 8 GB 3060 ti

A 3060 ultra with 12gb would make sense, i guess. I mean, not really if we think about the 3060 family possibly having 4 SKUs if they gonna release a Super variant down the road, but still.
Hopefully there are going to be leaks for a vanilla 3060 too which now i'm expecting it to come at $350, not 300. I have a bad feeling.

Kind of clicked through it, but $330 MSRP? Not horrible... but not exactly great either. So $600 in scalper world prices, and $500 in AiB (aka corporate scalper)

Yeah, it really needs to be $300..otherwise, everyone is going to just step-up to the faster / more future-proof memory bandwidth 3060 Ti.

I can't justify paying that much for a 2060 Super performance with a little more memory.

$300 would have put it right in line with the previous generation as far as pricing too. 3060, 3060ti, 3070, 3080 all were priced $300, $399, $499, $699 for the 2060, 2060 Super, 2070, 2080

I did say "don't look."

I'd been keeping half an eye on Microcenter's stock for a while. They'd been carrying 5700XTs as the best card other than a few Quadros, and a couple of units of the RTX 3000 here and there before they got snapped up. A couple days after the news about Bitcoin prices spiking and "5700XT is still good for mining" they all disappeared. Right at this moment the Houston store has 1 7750, 2 1650s (and I mean that many boxes, not that many models) in stock, and then it's the 1030 (other than those quadros.)

That's exactly what I'm seeing.
It's like all but the bottom-tier GPUs are being gobbled up.

2020 really did a number on economies across the globe, and people have to make ends meet some how...

Wait, I found one for only $249. It's a 3GB model.

Just theoretically speaking I wonder if the slots for the extra 3GB of RAM are on the board and if it would work if you could populate them. (I am aware of how much fun the idea of soldering BGA chips would be.)
 
Battery weight on the 3060Ti version should be a mere 4.5 lbs or so to sustain approx.180watts consumption for any reasonable period. One heavy laptop!
