Guess 10GB is not enough, eh?View attachment 318372

Guess not, but I’ve been arguing that in the recent is 10GB VRAM enough thread.Guess 10GB is not enough, eh?
No Jensen in his spatula laden kitchen kicking things off? wtf
No, but I'm digging this Captain Picard-looking guy.

They are waiting on vendors to get their Bios's in order, their cards have had the ability for a while as they already have it in the Quadro's working on Xeons.Resizable BAR (aka Smart Access Memory) shown as being used in gaming laptops with Ampere so far. Wonder if there will be a desktop announcement.
I would counter, that more people want these cards than those that have these cards, so in actuality it benefits people who are in this area... now there are more choices of cards that are extremely difficult to get. This just shits all over 3060ti and 3070 owners.
3060 gets 12GB VRAM, but 3080 only gets 10GB?
Ummmmmm....
Yea, it’s pure marketing. Obviously a 3060 will never be faster than a 3080, but still...Might as well try to make more money off of people who think they need 12 GB on a 3060 for some reason.
I'll never understand when people make illogical comments like that. It's not about needing 12 gigs but about needing more than 6. We kind of heard the same dumb arguments when people started adding more system ram as person after person kept saying you don't need 16 gigs of system ram. And again it wasn't about needing 16 gigs of system ram but about needing more than 8. I mean how hard is it to figure out that you sometimes have to go to the next step?Might as well try to make more money off of people who think they need 12 GB on a 3060 for some reason.
Because at a certain point more VRAM is pointless if the card isn't fast enough to support it. They have a 3060 Ti with 8 GB and now a 3060 with 12 GB...Why?I'll never understand when people make illogical comments like that. It's not about needing 12 gigs but about needing more than 6. Sigh, it's not just about pure marketing. Again they only have two reasonable options on a 192-bit bus and 6 gigs would be way too limiting at this point as even on the 2060 that limit was reached in a few cases.Yea, it’s pure marketing. Obviously a 3060 will never be faster than a 3080, but still...
Why don't you actually bother reading what I said? Going 12 GB was the only other option since 6 GB would be too limiting at this point on that level of card going forward. But yes I agree it's very confusing and will be a mess but I guess they didn't want to spend the money and put higher capacities on the 3060 TI and above. It's not always just Nvidia that does this as AMD has a 5500 XT with 8 gigs of vram when their 5600 XT only has 6.Because at a certain point more VRAM is pointless if the card isn't fast enough to support it. They have a 3060 Ti with 8 GB and now a 3060 with 12 GB...Why?
It's simple: they know there're a lot of suckers out there who'll sell their Tis to buy the new hotness. PROFIT! Think of it how Lucas kept re-releasing Star Wars.I still don't understand how the 3060 is going to have more memory than 3060ti
Can someone please explain this to me like the dummy I am
Guess not, but I’ve been arguing that in the recent is 10GB VRAM enough thread.
It doesn't have to make use of 12 gigs, it just needs to make use of more than 6 which it can easily do in a few games even right now. Digital foundry had even hit the vram limit on the 2060 in a couple of games when they tested 2 years ago. The only issue here is that it looks stupid having higher end cards with less vram so now we have to wait and wonder when they're going to increase capacities on cards like the 3070 and 3080.10GB isn't enough for an RTX 3080. However, an RTX 3060 is a different animal. It's probably not fast enough to make good use of 12GB of VRAM. It's like a 256MB GeForce 5200FX. Its fucking pointless.
Not necessarily, I have seen video editing applications over the years that require high amounts of VRAM, but do not necessarily require a lot of GPU processing.Because at a certain point more VRAM is pointless if the card isn't fast enough to support it. They have a 3060 Ti with 8 GB and now a 3060 with 12 GB...Why?
For gaming, yes, I agree.10GB isn't enough for an RTX 3080. However, an RTX 3060 is a different animal. It's probably not fast enough to make good use of 12GB of VRAM. It's like a 256MB GeForce 5200FX. Its fucking pointless.
For gaming, yes, I agree.
For content creation and production which requires higher VRAM but less GPU processing, these will fill that market segment, especially on a budget.
I don't see "built for content creators" on there.View attachment 318372

I thought taco likes to break the rules...Isn't rtx for gaming nd nt professional work according to terms agreement?
