What do you guy think? Do you think other AIB will raise their prices of 3000 series too?

Edit: it seems only the TUF Non OC cards have retained the price (the price haven't been increased

Edit2: This is an official statement from an Asus tech that runs a DIY Facebook group.

"Update regarding MSRP pricing for ASUS components in 2021.

This update applies to graphics cards and motherboards*

We have an announcement in regards to MSRP price changes that are effective in early 2021 for our award-winning series of graphic cards and motherboards. Our new MSRP reflects increases in cost for components. operating costs, and logistical activities plus a continuation of import tariffs. We worked closely with our supply and logistic partners to minimize price increases. ASUS greatly appreciates your continued business and support as we navigate through this time of unprecedented market change.

*additional models may see an increase as we moved further into Q1."

hey @everyone been a pretty huge newsday for GPUs by now your aware that the ASUS MSRP increased

I can now confirm that

ASUS
GIGABYTE
PNY
ZOTAC
and MSI have now increased their prices

This is due to a tarrif in the US that GPUs were excluded from. this has now ended, you can find out more here
https://www.federalregister.gov/doc...-process-and-technical-amendments-chinas-acts

EVGA is refusing to comment but will most likely follow the rest

if you have a backorder you should contact the seller to see if they will honor the backorder still.

I think everyone but Evga has, and I'm sure they will. There is no reason not to. They can blame it on tariffs and they know damn well they will still sell every GPU they manufacture. No need for them to take the hit.

I heard somewhere motherboards could be affected also? I guess it's a good thing I snuck all my upgrades in last year.

I’ll never buy an asus product after reading all the bullshit reasons they deny rma on their products. They could be at FE pricing and available at Best Buy and I won’t buy it.

I have never had issues with Asus but you have to call and get a hold of the rma department directly. They will take care of you if you get to the actual department but it's a huge pia. I only run Asus motherboards. I will say Best Buy had not changed any prices except the Strix today but that will not last. As if the cards weren't hard enough to get but now they add another 30-100 a card especially for the 3090 which was already out of reach or out of touch lol.

Same reason every single one of my Nvidia GPUs for over the past decade have been from EVGA. They are one of the only PC hardware companies that I've never had any issues with when it came to technical support or RMA. Their customer service is top tier from my experience. Corsair was also good to me when I had to use their customer service, but I haven't had to use it in several years.

I’ve used Corsair before and they were great. You see so many people having issues with asus over dumb stuff. Someone had a 2080ti with memory issues, they denied the rma because there was a scratch on the io plate under the display port plug.

Saw a similar story about ASUS initially denying a RMA on a monitor because there was a scratch on the front bezel (did not impact the display). Apparently after repeatedly calling ASUS to discuss the RMA they finally agreed to repair it under warranty but the guy had to pay for a new monitor bezel out of pocket. For a simple scratch, not even a crack or anything.

By the time I'll get my hands on any parts, they'll decide to release next gen stuff. Or they'll just extend the life of current releases and squeeze all they can from the demand/scalping/bit coin companies. I might as well get a new console at this point.....if I can

how much have prices gone up on average for the reference model- RTX 3080 for example?

So Strix 3060ti, take a $399 base reference card, do some OC tweaking to it, better cooler, possibly RGB (I'm guessing), increase it's price to $599 and blame tariffs ... riiiiiiight.

Well if you are patient, word is April ish for Xbox and couple months later still for the PS5 to catch up to demand somewhat.

But it's a hybrid cooler! That totally is worth a $500 up charge... due to tariffs of course.
I paid an $80 upcharge for my evga hybrid rtx 3080 FTW3 card ($779 pre-tax) :D.

Amd is leading the way in price hikes. /s

A PS5 is looking more and more likely in my future. That upgrade might have to wait till end of year or something.

The new consoles will give you the rough experience of a high-end PC from five years ago, notwithstanding exclusives, based on the recent video from Gamers Nexus where they did benchmarks and tried to build an equivalent system. I’m not saying the consoles are not worth it, but it’s not the answer to a lack of new hardware assuming you have a decent PC already.

I usually get consoles for their exclusives , god of war, uncharted etc I’ve never expected them to match or exceed pc level visual fidelity. Certain games just don’t come to pc. But that’s ok. All it means is that I’m more likely to get a newer console earlier than a GPU.

It’s not just ASUS. Newegg jacked prices of everything across the board. Graphics, motherboards and memory.

Hmm. I wonder how much of that is due to the Trillions of $US being printed? (Not trying to start a flame-fest!)

A lot of that inventory is manufactured in countries foreign to the US/Europe. I don't know what's going on with the Euro atm, but I do know that the US government has been flooding the economy with new dollars without any product/services to back up the new dollars. Therefore, more dollars chasing the same products means the costs (in dollars) of those products will necessarily rise.

I'm just wondering if we're seeing the tip of that iceberg.

Most of the money is in the stock markets. Doubt you will see all prices go up. It is just Newegg being Newegg. Soon Amazon will also be Amazon and jack prices there as well.

Both sides have a history of jacking up prices post the honey moon period of new hardware. It is what it is.

Agreed, I’m just saying that a lot of people are throwing up their hands and saying they’re getting a console, only they won’t really have a better graphical experience. I just find it odd lol.

Some people like to play games. Graphics fidelity et al be dammned.

I have all my parts for my build but this makes me genuinely sad for everyone wanting to upgrade or build for the first time.

I saw that same video from Gamers Nexus and I have a mancrush on Steve because he's so reasonable and well informed about PC gear/gaming but I think there is a mistake somewhere in their methodology. Digital Foundry looked at AC Valhalla and tried to match the PS5's settings to the PC version and they said the PS5 performs somewhere in the range of an RX 5700 XT for AMD, or an RTX 2080 for nVidia. And if you look at the specs for the PS5 it has 10 TFLOPS of compute with 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth, it should be faster than the RX 5700 XT based on that.

Here is the Digital Foundry video I am referring to

It’s possible, although I think it’s also significant to remember that the PS5 has a 350W power supply, which is well below the recommended PSU for a 5700XT (yes, I know it’s a newer architecture, but still). Given that they have the equivalent of a 3700X under the hood as a CPU which draws around 90W of power under load, that leaves 260W for every other system components, including the GPU, and it’s unlikely that the engineers would have designed it to run right in the edge of the PSU’s capability. With that in mind, it wouldn’t surprise me if GN’s video is accurate.

In both videos, they have to make a judgement call with regard to texture quality, which means they might not be exactly matching how the PS5 is rendering the scene. I just have a hard time believing that a 350W “PC” that costs $500USD, notwithstanding that Sony is taking a loss on the hardware up front, is going to match a modern gaming PC with a 500W+ power supply.

Also, we all know that TFLOPS is a bad metric to compare GPUs on its own. Even with memory bandwidth included, it doesn’t take into account other factors of how the GPU will render.

In any case, I’m not saying the PS5 is crap or anything like that. What I am saying is that it’s silly that people are saying that they have to go to the console now in order to game when the PC that they already own will probably give them a similar gaming experience anyway. If you want the exclusives, go for the PS5. If you’re annoyed that you can’t upgrade, as many of us are, the PS5 is not the answer to your problem.

I think it is simply not watching the hole video, for some games it ran like a 1060, for other it was a 1070 and some it went up to a 1080, it is quite game dependant,

Assassin Creed is a game that run particularly well on RDNA 2, Watch Dogs run a bit slower than a 2060 and maybe an exclusive like Dark Soul could need the newer card to find an equivalent on the AMD side to run in a similar way

I see 3090 tuf up at my MC this morning. They want $1839 for it. It normally went for around $1600 before the price hike.

I'm glad I built my new Zen 3 system in mid December...only thing missing is the GPU...I want a 3080 Ti but if I can snag a 3080 I'll do it

Glad I snagged my 3090 in store on 12/31/20... lol. Was pricey enough then! :p Looks like I will be milking this x99 build for awhile longer based on the current climate of CPU's and pricing as well. Although at least I have not been limited in anything I play as the GPU is still the limit at 4K. Yay for the longest lasting build I have ever owned! Been through 5 video card generations now! haha
