Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL Owners - What Fan Setup Did You Go With?

I bought this case - it's still sitting in the box because I can't f'n find a 5900x to save my life but I imagine I'll eventually get one and be able to proceed with the build.

As you know, the case comes with zero fans - all of them need to be bought. I'm curious what others have done for fan configuration?

I have (also in box...stupid AMD) a Corsair H115i water cooler (280mm). So I was thinking of doing:

TOP: The water cooler 280mm (out)
BACK: 1x 120mm (out)
SIDE(front): 3x 120mm (in)
BOTTOM: 3x 120mm (in)

is there a smarter way to go?

I used 10 of the inwin Crown daisy chain fans to try to keep the wiring more simplified. Thats 3 each for the top and bottom radiators, all of those set to exhaust along with the one rear one set as exhaust. The 3 in the side are intakes,, so a mostly negative pressure setup in mine. I went full custom hard tube using the EK front mount distro plate, but, that's an expensive way to cool everything.

Fan-noob question about daisy chaining fans - does that just mean that they all connect to each other somehow with a single connection to the motherboard? Are all 10 of yours daisy chained or do you have them like in sets of 3 (+1 alone) ?

some new fans have a built-in splitter. you can chain up to 4 on a normal 1a header.

The ones I have have a cable between the fans, they recommended but thing more than 5 in a row, so they are actuality set as 2 sets of 5. The rear, top radiator and top intake are together, then the bottom 2 intake and the 3 bottom radiator fans are linked. I did have to get an argb distribution block since my motherboard only had one 3 pin rgb header, and you can see i need more for this build with all those rgb things in there.

Other fans do the daisy chain differently. I'd like to get my hands on the lian li ones, they actually clip together and then have a single cable for each bank that's connected. But, like everything else, they are always sold out and scalpers trying to profit.

Do you know the sku/model name of those Lian Li fans?

no idea. they are not chainable but have good specs and look nice.

I know it's just marketing speak but the first blurb on that product page is this:

Modular Connector Design

Our patented modular connector design daisy-chains the fans together, making cable management quick, easy, and clean.

oops, missed that.

I ordered 2 sets of 3 InWin Saturn 120s

I need an individual one for the back but I can't seem to find a single unit at my etailers/retailers

I'm sure I can just put a different one in for that spot tho

Found the model number for the single fan: IW-FN-ASN120-1PK, but I was unable to find them in stock anywhere.

Also looks like there are 140mm versions for your 280mm AIO - Amazon Link

I'm sure I can just put a different one in for that spot tho
This is [H] and that is not allowed :p

Just order another 3 pack, and have a couple extra, just in case.

I don’t have the xl, just the regular 011. I have bottom three in, side three out, top 3 (on cpu 360) out. I feel like this isn’t the ideal setup. The cpu will hit about 83 (pbo 5950) with this setup. The 5700xt dumps too much heat into the case.

I am thinking of trying 360 top in, side 3 in, bottom 3 out.

your 360 should be intake.

Even at idle I can feel warm air coming out of the case.
ok, thats pretty normal. if it idles at 30 and your room is 21, youll feel the difference. you only mention cpu temp so thats what one would assume you have issue with....
"front" and bottom in, top and back out is how id do it.

I wouldn’t say I ha e a problem, I just think it could be better. I wish I had time to test every configuration to see what really is best.

When I get a wb for my 3080 I will have 2 280mm rads too and bottom with a 360 rad at the side. All fitted with corsair ML fans. I have then running at 25% and don't hear them during day to day stuff. I have them called at 50% and get solid temps with minimal noise.

When I was using my case I went with two 140mm fans on the top and bottom. Worked pretty well especially for the video card cooling bringing in the cool air from the bottom blowing right on the card itself.

So my setup was top and bottom were set to in and warm air forced out via positive pressure.

LMy mindset, both radiators are getting the coolest air possible vs. the bottom rad getting getting cold fresh air and the top rad getting air that is 4-5c hotter.

same case on air (don’t have a water block for the 2080 Ti), is bottom intake, top exhaust. Though internal case temps still get pretty toasty. Might change it up to bottom/side intake with top as exhaust.

Just placed an order for this case. Now to read up on more threads like this (and reviews) to determine the most effective air cooling setup.
