What do you think the 3000 and 6000 series prices will be by June 2021 and will early adopters be crying?

The prices of cards are so far out of line and the effort to get one unless you are renting a room in a Best Buy or Micro Center is so hard do you expect to see a large drop by June 2021?

With yet another unpaid for Stimulus bill, out of thin air accounting by Feds -> I expect the dollar value to go even further down compared to other currencies. So for stuff made overseas, prices will go up. Possibly Nvidia 2020 line up will be replaced except for something like the 3090 which has already a very high mark up.

I am not sure what by the premise that the price are so far out of line (MSRP wise) are they not better than the previous generation Turin pricing ?

Don't prices only fall when there's a newer generation of cards that replace them as the best GPU to buy?
If recent launch become the norm, it will take a while for a newer generation launch to have lower price on the previous one, if that ever happen to start with, maybe the new one are not buyable, the last generation is somewhat rare as well and priced equal if not higher than in the past until they are all replaced by the new one without really a time when you can buy an older generation card at a very low price instead of the new lower end model.

Scarcity keeps prices high. Once the initial early adopter surge is over I am thinking you might at least be able to buy them at MSRP, 3070 FE at $499.00 and with some competition maybe a few bucks less.

Depends when the 3080 TI comes out, how fast it is and if its hard to get as everything else.

No they won't. Why would they be crying when they been using the cards for nearly a year but then. These post about early adopter crying are so dumb. Most people know what they are buying into. It is like something jealous poor people say to feel better about themselves.

No they don't. Only time they drop is cause the competition releases new hardware. Companies halt productions months before they drop new hardware and let the supply chain run out before the new cards are released normally. Retailers do t want to be stuck with dead stock that they don't make a huge profit each unit to sell off at a huge loss.

So what is the chance I will be able to just log in to a site and pick the card I want at MSRP by June?

Hmm so if I follow, it'll be a crap time to buy a card (in terms of price per value) for, well, for the foreseeable future?
It depend do you consider close to MSRP price to all the announced card to be a crap price per value ? Or do you mean if you cannot achieve to wait in line (virtually or in person) to get one and have to pay extra ?

There is already card on sales at near MSRP pricing no ? If you achieve to get them, for example:
https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce...s 3080&cm_re=asus_3080-_-14-126-453-_-Product
$699.99, exactly the announced 3080 MSRP

According to a number of articles looking into different projections, it is not likely that prices will drop significantly and in fact, availability may be limited for quite some time. It seems to be a multi-factor issue. Some mention that the fabs are simply using a ton of silicon for new products and both the 7nm and 8nm high performance processes are in demand. Consumer products alone mean both AMD CPUs and GPUs, Nvidia GPUs, plus the massive amount allocated to Playstation 5 / Xbox Series X console chip manufacture. There's also the question about limited availability on components from GDDR6X to more importantly the material used in the layers of the chips themselves is projected to be low availability at least through Q1 2021. There is also the question about how many GPUs are allocated to which AIBs and at what rate, while some suggest that huge amounts of new GPU chips are being sold for cryptocurrency mining at massive scale.

This combined with continued COVID19 (and rising again , sadly) impact meaning gaming is an ever more desirable hobby at least for those who can still afford it; at least among those who can still afford it. While the massive amounts of over MSRP scalping may gradually descend, its important to note that these are generally pretty expensive cards in general! While I'd love to see the entire GPU industry go back to the days of the ultra high end 1080 Ti being a $700-800 card, their current reception means its not likely to change! While I dont' see early adopters crying for price (except perhaps those who bought scalped ones), the only elements I can think of are the possible Nvidia "Ti" cards. The strong showing of AMD's 6800 / 6800XT / 6900XT overall means that Nvidia will be likely not to hold back on their proposed 3080 Ti that fixes the low VRAM issue compared to AMD's cards by offering likely 20GB of VRAM. A 3080 Ti that is very similar in specs to the 3090 save for the last 4GB of VRAM, sold for around $1000 would be a solid value. Similarly, an upgraded 3070 Ti may also be longer lasting. However aside from those (which are likely to be just as rare and scalped as existing cards if not more so), I'm not seeing a lot of early adopters losing out (provided they can get things at MSRP) or regrettably, no price drops as its simply too profitable all around as things are now.

This is a pessimistic outlook from a lot of people. Blew cash on a 3800X, new MB, and ram while still running an old 1070. I can settle for a 3070 FE at $499.00 even at the current 8 gigs because it will seem like such a huge upgrade but I just want to be able to pick through several cards at or very near to that price range and know they will be there when I want one. At that time I may be able to find a used one when someone decides the 3070 they got is too limited.

The question is how soon will they get restocked? AFAIK nothing near MSRP for 3080 has been in stock for over a month online looking at nowinstock alerts.

I will be stuck with MSRP regardless, probably no sales coming up until next Xmas. I certainly don't want to pay more now for a 2080TI that the less expensive 3070 can equal or beat. As other posters said, when the new gen comes in the prices can fall so at the worst when you can just grab a 3000 series on a whim the older cards should drop. I have a severe budget and have to stay behind but a 1070 is TOO far behind.

I would be fine paying MSRP for the newer cards assuming that they are easily purchased, without any of the time sucks that people are currently experiencing trying to buy one. My time table is likely spring or summer next year.

I'm still looking for an Rx 580 replacement.... This might be the end of my PC gaming.

Well the good news for the dollar is that there aren't many currencies out there going up in value

Check out DPI's thread in the Deals section talking about ways to find hot hardware . Some of these seem to give you a much better chance if you're willing to take the time in setup etc.

Today at 11:17 AM the $699 founder edition was at bestbuy.com according to one of the bot I follow (not sure how reliable they are), that one as well:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia...rd-titanium-and-black/6429440.p?skuId=6429440

The 20, $750 models :
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...80gaming_oc_10gd_geforce_rtx_3080_gaming.html

And the $700 Asus tuf model at Amazon.

Sold out on the BB website.
It is impossible for something to not be sold out by the time someone would post it here and for someone to click on it after I think, let alone 12 hours later.

It was a bot that is actively looking for something to be in stock that sent an alert at 11:17 AM that the site removed the sold out mention on their webpage, I am not sure how reliable is that bot, but it seem to be ok if a little slow.

Thanks you, they were both gone when I checked but $600.00 is my top budget price, hoping for a Best Buy $499.00 3070 FE

I can't speak on the 3070, but keep in mind your PSU. I have a 650W right now and apparently the 3080 requires a 750W. So I have to roll that into my GPU budget as well. =/

I just got an MSI 3070 Trio X for less than $700. I am thinking to bring it back to the store though. I am not sure it is worth it for the money over my 1080ti. I guess I could sell the 1080ti for $350 to $400. But is 30-40% increase in speed worth it for $350? I am not sure. $500 is a much more appealing price for 3070. I would love to find a 3080 for $700.

Sell it to someone here, I'm sure someone will cover fees shipping and at least buy you lunch. Help a fellow forum member out

Prices are most affected by supply and demand. Hopefully the one will increase as the other decreases (or stays the same), over the next 3-9 months.

I'd think manufacturing is the chokepoint right now. If I were running TSMC's 7nm fab, I'd be running 3 shifts a day, 7 days a week. Maximizing volume while the product is highly sought after. Who knows: maybe that's what they're actually doing?

I have an 850 with a 1 K for backup. Thanks
