Sony removes Cyberpunk from the PS playstore

Right, pretty much any big game has a huge day 1 patch, but usually the developers come through with the fix.

I think the difference here is that this is arguably the biggest game launch of all time and gamers had super high expectations.

And the state it is in on last-gen consoles is a joke. I bought the PS4 version, but I haven't played it since I sold my PS4 in anticipation of getting a PS5 (yes, I'm a clown). But I watched the console videos and 15 fps is unacceptable.

Surprisingly the Stadia version is pretty solid. I tested it and it looked and played great. If you have a last gen console or a 1060 or below, definitely give Stadia a chance because it really shines.
use the Geforce version instead, links to your steam library, has more graphics options and runs well. My brother does this with his old 970, 1080p ray tracing ultra, 60fps

I have a ps5 and got the game on disc from bestbuy. Had no idea a ps5 version didn’t exist. Been too wrapped up with covid I guess. I’m not playing it till ps5 version is out and stable. I haven’t even started RDR2 yet so i have stuff to play. I’m also very patient.

Doom released in 1993, was ported to consoles in 1994.
Yea, and they sucked much harder than Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles. Doom 32X (which I own) was the better of the ports, but it was missing 1/3 of the game. Doom on Jaguar looked the best but had no music because ID used the DSP processor for collusion detection instead of music. 3DO Doom was bad to the point where you could count the frame rate, and it was developed by a single woman who had the worst crunch time ever, though 3DO Doom had amazing music. Saturn Doom is almost as bad if not worse, in that the frame rate is probably even lower. SNES Doom is just horrible.

The only good Doom ports were the GBA version which was released in 2001, and the Playstation port which was done in 1995. The Playstation port was so good that some levels were eventually incorporated into the PC version. To say that Doom was ported a year later is like saying Cyberpunk was released at the same time as the PC version.

Quit it with the "What did you expect from a 7 year old console?" BS

when CDPR stated that it ran fine and then hard-blocked reviews for it, that's the kind of apologist shit that gives companies a free pass to jerk around consumers. The state of the current game [without major bugs] is that of a '90s game that's been reskinned with over-tuned graphics; sure it can be enjoyable, but it's nothing that was marketed outside of the setting and pretty looks, and that's a damned shame.

Crysis didn't wreck systems because it could push graphical fidelity (even though it did push the envelope), it was poorly optimized which caused systems to bog down. If that's the comparison you wanted to make, that's still pretty accurate, lol.
It just wasn't meant for the PS4/XB1. This game was meant for the PS5/XSX/PC. They'll never get the game running the way you want it on those machines.

She's a hero. You got any articles on her, i'd like to read that.

I'm drunk so i'm not sure what the original context was anymore, but converting doom to SNES is a major accomplishment, doom was in C right? SNES would have basically been converting that to assembly... yuk

Was there an official statement from CDPR that said as much? As far as I'm aware, there wasn't any mention pre-release.

You can keep spouting nonsense that belittles the people that bought the game for those consoles, but the fact of the matter is that CDPR lied about the state of the game to get more sales.

This. Also lets not forget that every other open-world "action" (as CDPR describes Cyberpunk now) game like RDR2, Wildlands, etc run just fine on those systems without hitching and looking like complete potato.

That said, who in their right mind buys a CDPR game on console lol.

Came here to say, I’ve been playing this on PC maxed with a 3090 at 1440p. While the performance is lackluster at times, it’s beauty makes up for it. It’s probably the most stable AAA game I’ve played recently. Hell AC:Valhalla crashed a lot throughout my 150 hours, however it more aggressively auto saved. I can see the experience sucking on last gen consoles. People who say this is buggy on PC aren’t playing enough supposedly AAA titles at launch. Just wait for DICEs next battlefield. This is pretty tame compared to other game launches. I feel like it’s catching more flack than it deserves just because it’s more demanding on systems, not because of more bugs. At least my experience on PC has me scratching my head when looking at all the comments. And it’s probably driving a lot of people to pick up the new Ryan CPUs and GPUs to upgrade their aging systems. It’s exactly what the PC platform needed to kick all you slackers still on 6700k’s into gear!

This got me thinking. I think the problem is with shadows, I wonder how the game draws shadows? Does it draw them only when in view of the player or does it draw the entire scene regardless of walls or field of vision?
It draws them 4 seconds after the 5 seconds it takes to draw the face first, on last gen consoles

While I agree that CPD needs to take responsibility for releasing the game in such a bad state on old consoles, I cannot agree with the media or content creators calling the entire game a failure, just because of how bad the game is on the PS4.
If the game is working significantly better on the PC and new gen consoles, that counts as well.

This game should not have been released on last gen consoles, thats where CPD made a mistake. They clearly put in plenty of effort to take advantage of modern hardware capabilities, and there's no way the game would work well on outdated hardware.
It would be like expecting the upcoming Ratchet and Clank game to run on PS4 with its instantaneous teleportation, its impossible. If they want to take advantage of PS5 SSD, the will have to give up on having PS4 version.

Its good to see CPD trying to fix the situation by offering refund, this is more than what can be said for other AAA publishers. Unfortunately, the damage is done, and no one will talk about what CPD did right in how they respond.

Reportedly, even in PS4 pro this game does better when installed on external ssd

Maybe all it needs is a fast ssd

I just wonder have any of these people ever played a newly released game? Can you give me one game that didnt have problems......It is a given but you can buy from certain people with confidence it will get to a point of play ability. If they made sure it was a perfect game to be at launch they would never try to push the bounderies IMO. An for people that get refunds or say i would never recomend i think is horrible if you bought it one time im pretty sure your gonna buy it again when you think its up to par an i would recomend knowing there track record yes it may not be perfect right now "which i think is totally overblown im playing it just fine" but in due time it will be up to snuff.

Nobody forced CDPR to brag about how the game is doing great on consoles before launch, though. And Cyberpunk's complexity is mostly surface level, there is not much there in the core to tax the consoles beyond what's possible. Graphics wise, it's about downgrading with optimization to match the capabilities, and some later last-gen titles showed a game can still look stunning, though upscaled and at 30 fps. It's not that it couldn't have been done with Cyberpunk, it just wasn't, while being touted as done and later hidden from reviewers and consequently early customers.

Unfortunately, their statements and actions before and after release proved to be terrible. The only thing they are doing right is promising to do right. A year ago, that would be all that is needed. Today, they have much work to do to earn the trust back.

It is kind of sad and defeatist to accept it as the norm, wouldn't you say? Sure, developers could fix the game in time, but they don't deserve to be paid (by purchasing the game) until then. In the meantime, refunds should be asked and a message sent that this is not an acceptable practice, prevalent as it may be, unfortunately, in today's gaming market. And there's nothing wrong in recommending against buying until it's fixed and rewarding them after.

I truly want CDPR to get back on track and succeed. I held them in the highest regard both as a developer/publisher and a store front owner (90% of my game purchases are on GOG). My disappointment with their actions and handling of Cyberpunk, and sucking up to the CCP, is all the greater because I viewed them as one of the few remaining good entities in gaming.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development since before PS4/XB1 were launched.
The originally announced release date was 16 April 2020, so before the launch of PS5/XSX.

There is no conceivable scenario that this game was meant for PS5/XSX. It is simply a buggy mess on the consoles, on PS4 more than on XB1.

Most PC players that aren't happy with the game aren't concerned with the bugs, but with everything listed here.

Still one of the best games I've played. The bugs are unfortunately, but it's 100% playable on PC.

XB1X and PS4 Pro seems acceptable and obviously it's okay on the next-gen consoles. So it's not a total bust.

how do you figure? I'm running it on an i7 6700 w a GTX 1080 at 1440p. It's pretty stable 35-40fps at near-ultra settings. (Turned off a few things, such as motion blur, etc. that I didn't like as much.)

That's a 5 year old build. And it looks great! Freesync dell screen, so no tearing or anything.
Exactly. The people saying the game is"poorly optimized" said the same about Crysis. The game is finally a next-level graphical experience (albeit with some rough edges): it scales commensurately with the rendering power you throw at it.

No way this was going to be a good story on consoles with 10 year-old midrange GPUs.

yeah, i've been kinda bragging about the performance on my pc, but i did just pick up a WD SN850 which is the fastest PCIE 4.0 M.2 drive on the market, basically just for this game, so that could be helping things out too?

Right, it's running the game on something slower than a GTX 1050. plus a Athlon 5350

Check out that thing choking games on discrete GPU!

It’s sterile at best. AI is flat out stupid, the city feels dull. Very little interaction outside of story lines. The bugs are the icing on the cake IMO. Immersion is not at all a word I would use to describe my experience with it. Graphics were nice, sound was on point. The AI and lack of life in the city environment sealed the deal as a not recommend from me. And those aren’t console bug issues. Those are core game mechanics issues. More and more reviews are finally peaking their head out their shell and actually fairly criticizing this game for what it is.

It had no identity. Or if it did, it was trying to be so many different types of games in one. This is a grade A example of feature creep that was never finished. It’s basically a bunch of unfinished ideas. And again that’s not even addressing the bugs.
I’m glad some people enjoyed it. And I’m also glad many review sites are finally being honest about it.

I'm so happy my experience with the game so far is absolutely none of this. :)

Ugh, I'm disappointed.. I just built me PC 3 weeks ago and don't believe SN850 was out. I bought a SN750. Wondering if it's worth returning the 750 and buying the 850, the price difference is minimal.
But would there be any difference outside of benchmarks?

None, you shouldn't bother.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't need to be in an official statement. It's a 2020 AAA game. To expect it to work on a SEVEN YEAR OLD console is just madness. I get it, you can't find a new console to buy and you want to play it, I totally understand that frustration and quite frankly it's all a blunder from hardware to software, unfortunately.

That said, I would expect it to run like dogshit on a 7 year old PC as well. That's the GeForce 700 series era, for reference.

40% of pre orders were for the older consoles. The game was initially target for older consoles...your argument makes no sense unless you are strictly talking pc's?

I blame the company for releasing it on said console and I blame the users of those console for purchasing it.

When it was first announced, the PS4 and Xbox one were pretty new. So, at that time you should have been excited. When you hit this far along in the development process, you have to understand that it can't possibly run well on those old systems. It just can't.

Bullshit, then that is on CDPR to up the requirements and let their customers know...you are vicitm blaming here, wow.

I don't know why you decided to categorize PC and console. They both have the same hardware. So they are comparable. Would you take your backup email rig and try and run cyberpunk on it? Why not?

I think we know the answer, but it's always someone else's fault.

How is that getting your emails on your GAMING console working out for you. LOL, your twisted logic knows no bounds...

My point is a PS4 comparable PC is good for NOTHING. I wouldn't even give my kids a system that old for Roblox and Minecraft. Expecting it to play a 2020 AAA game is crazy. Head in the sand all you want, you expected a 7 year old GPU to play your game like the trailers you watched and that was never going to happen.
